I dont know a birdy yet who doesnt love his bathtime!!! My birds scream when the sink comes on because they know it is time for their bathtime and they too love music!! Parakeets are such characters full of big parrot personality!! Your parakeet is a love!!! Too Cute!!! Great video!!! :)

@crystalcovers There are some birdies who just plain dont care for the water. But pretty rare. It all depends on the birdy really. Some birds prefer to bathe in a water dish in their cage while others prefer a sink or even a shower. My Cockatoo and Indian Ringneck completely prefer the shower and have their own perches and everything. Yes, they are spoiled and deserve every moment of it!!! :)

@nicolletteperfect I do let them out of my cage. I've only had them for a few weeks. Stormy has a clipped wing, so he can't fly for long. They already trust me enough because the ygo on my shoulder and they eat my hair.

@nicollettePerfect what i do with my budgies is i leave the door open and their food and water in the cage,when they are hungery enough they will go back in by themselves.i NEVER chase them back in .hope that helps

ik heb t parkietje de eerste dag rustig in zijn kooi gelaten

tweede dag ben ik telkens rustig met mijn hand de kooi in gegaan, ik heb hem al geaaid , dit kon ik gewoon doen,

maar nu is hij bijna de hele dag stil en gaat telkens op het zelfdestokje zitten, heb ik nu iets heel fout gedaan waardoor hij niet meer zal wennen, heb je nog wat tips want ik ben bang dat hij nu heel depressief is doordat hij geen vriendje heeft

kun je wat tips geven? alvast bedankt!

@kefinus Hoi, het parkietje is zo stil omdat hij nog een hele tijd moet wennen aan zijn nieuwe omgeving. Geef hem wat ruimte om te wennen, het kan nog een aantal weken duren! Maar goed dat je hem al hebt kunnen aaien, ga echter niet te hard van stapel, want geduld is een schone zaak! Het komt zeker goed, parkietje zal echt wel bijdraaien! Succes!

Het beste is om 1 parkietje te halen (mannetje)in plaats van 2, dan heb je al een vrij grote kans dat hij zijn aandacht op jou gaat richten.Ten tweede, laat hem eerst aan zijn nieuwe omgeving wennen en heel geduldig, beetje bij beetje, laat je hem aan je handen wennen(waarbij je wat lekkers uit je hand geeft). Heel veel goede tips staan op parkietenfreak punt nl, daar kun je alles gedetailleerd vinden. Alvast heel veel succes, maar vooral heel veel plezier met je parkietje!

Echter zijn parkieten als ze met z'n tweeen zijn minder sociaal met mensen en worden iets minder tam dan een parkietje dat alleen is, want twee parkietjes hebben meestal genoeg aan elkaar en hebben geen aandacht van mensen nodig....Maar het gaat erom waarom je er meerdere neemt, weet wel dat de omgang ermee dan anders is.

@LoveablePatches - Sure...like us humans, birds can die from water to their eyes. *facepalm* As any other living creature, water does Birds no harm if they're not actually drowned in it. They can close their eyes and at any point the eyes are kept wet by blinking.

Ooit vonden ze bij mijn moeder op d'r werk een grasparkietje, en die heeft ze mee naar huis genomen, en dat werd al snel mijn kameraatje, want die vogel was gewoon bezeten van mij. Ik kon op den duur gewoon met 2 vuisten op tafel slaan, terwijl hij er tussen stond, en geen cm wijkte. Sterker nog, hij keek me dan aan alsof hij wilde zeggen van "kom maar op hoor!" Ook ging hij rustig in m'n mond m'n kiezen zitten peuteren, dus is het een tandarts geweest in z'n vorige leven. Anyway, filmpje +10!

I used to have a bugdie a few years ago -he died of old age :'( - He also enjoyed to take baths. However he did'nt like to shower; he would get mad on the running water and try to bit it :P But diving into a plate of water - that i he loved! And then he climb on to my shoulder and shake all the water onto my face. God! I miss him!

@maelle713 It's an English budgie. He's bigger than normal budgies, usually they have bigger foreheads. Before you get one, you should get plenty of information about them, because it's very important you know what you get yourself into! :)

@pinkfresa7 you don't have to make it like water :) it just doesn't. My bird hates water, but my other parrot loves it. One bird likes to play with my hand, the other one likes to bite my jacket zipper. The one likes to chirp and sing and talk, the other one is silent, but it likes to cuddle. One likes to explore my room, the other one likes to play with a string. Every bird is different. :)

@murali7263 It takes a lot of patience and love for the bird: you start by sitting by the cage so your bird can use to your presence, by leaving your hand for a while in the cage, by giving your bugdie something delicious out of you hand, and eventually let it sit on your hand.

My bird died too, unexpectedly after a large tumor had grown while hidden under his flight feathers. My condolences on losing Keewy, it's tough when you bond with a bird and realize his life span is SO short and so much more precious.
