No it wasn't. It just worked on timing. When we got the field we just clocked everything.
You could make it remote controlled though, it shouldn't be that hard.

Fabulous job guys! I love the layout of the tracks. My friends and I built a robot like that but it was too top heavy and fell over every time we tried to go over a bump. Our robot came fourth in the competition.
