I appreciate the subject matter that you're addressing, I hope that the sound in the trailer isn't indicative of the whole piece because it's very hard to understand some of the interviews with the people you really want to hear from. Maybe check your levels in the mix before you throw it out there. thanks again for your work.
@lubetubeful "Sewer water" is actually amazingly clean. It is, by law, mandatorily tested daily for pathogens daily. The water that is purchased by consumers for $2 is, on the other hand, is not held to nearly the same standards that "sewer water" is.
Relating the Snowbowl expansion to enslament is somewhat like comparing BMW's efforts to produce automobiles to Nazi Germany's tyranny. Next time you take an Aspirin by Bayer, remember the company is a spin-off of IGF, which produced Zyklon B...
They say the mountains are sacred and no one should descrate them, but the highways through the reservation they live on is littered with broken glass and litter. The native Americans should look to clean up their own backyard before trying to cram it down everyone else's throat.
Let them make snow, jesus its not a big fucking deal. I seriously think you have no better reason to fight it beside the fact that we took youre land years ago and anything us white people do is evil. You can have casinos and take peoples fortunes away and well spray some snow on youre lil mountain that is pretty shitty enough anyway. Indians are ruining the Ski Scene in Arizona. Sunrise is complete shit because a tribe owns it, and now snowbowl is making an effort to improve. Let them be.
@CHARKELLYAZ1818 how can it be there property if it is stolen all you white people argue over land saying this is our how is it really yours unless you people are natives
The Navajo call everything sacred, and then don't use it at all. It's bullshit. You can't rock climb on Shiprock, because it's 'sacred' but if you go there, it's covered in trash. THey're just bitching for the sake of bitching.
Your just playing ignorant! I am a Navajo, a traditionalist, we believe in mother earth and father sky. Not all people disrespect the lands. The reason we "bitch" about the lands is because it is ours; The Navajo people were here long before the white immigrants and Spaniards came to kill off our people. We have survive more than 400 years of death from these sickening people; Today I am happy to say we are 300,000 strong and growing.
I think it isn`t important if the water is dirty or that they in Los Angeles drinks reclaimed water. It`s a sacred mountain for many tribes and I think you should respect that.
You can be a pure blood native but if you don`t engourage their views you aren`t a native.
Although its difficult to respond to such ignorance, your comments really identify and uphold the credibility of Snowbowl support. Did you listen to the appeal hearing?Judges in the 9th Circuit very clearly stated that this "SEWER WATER" was of great concern to public health. You have to love the one where they accuse the Snowbowl attorney of "double talk."
Where do you get your information from? FACT: The White Mountain Apache do not use wastewater to make snow.
Your comments are indicative of the bigoted realities that we as Indigenous peoples still face today. You claim to be Cherokee on top of all this? Maybe another person who's Grandma was a princess?
Its just amazing to see some of the comments on this film. My view is that there should be no snowmaking at all, thats because of my cultural views, its sacred to me and my people and is something that we have to protect. People can say as many hateful comments as they want, its not going to change our views, were stil going to fight to protect what is sacred to our people. Also the courts decided not to have any snowmaking...so people back off and get a life.
Our sacred sites are important and just because its not on the rezervation doesnt mean that it doesnt hold any symbolism to native people. We are first Nations people....we have every right to be here...more than any proabaly because our culture and religion are tied to the earth.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
and that descision is being appealed... so pick up the paper and see what is going on... oh wait they dont get the paper in tee pee's do they?? snowbowl WILL get snowmaking approved... and i hope just for your sake they cover the whole mountain with ski runs...
P.S.
Shouldnt you be building a casino instead of typing comments on youtube?
I can see that you are just another racist and ignorant person in the world and no wonder this world is screwed up, its because of people like you.and my tribe doesnt have a casino and i dont go to one, i dont even have a tee pee as you say. I guess you just have a lack of education...so sad (and i do read the news paper...you know why they are wanting to appeal its because their scared of what this will mean them) so take that asshole because we will not stop protecting what is sacred to us
the word "asshole", is that a sacred word? and you say i have a lack of education. 7 years at ASU. whats your education? i didnt see any univ's up there on second mesa. and even though your tribe may not have a casino, the other tribes you have banded with like the white mountain apaches, they have a few casinos and use reclaimed water for snowmaking on there mountain.
you say im racist? WHITE POWER! im talking about the color of snow obviously not people. im 1/4 cherokee. so i think it would be pretty hard for me to be racist against myself
Well lets see I'm a junior at Northern Arizona University and next year I'm graduating. And when am I from second mesa? and the whole white mountain apache snowmaking on there mountian is different from this. You might as well be white since your 1/4 cherokee and dont even support other indigenous tribes.
Provide more substance in your comment to establish why snowmaking with treated sewage effluent on a sacred mountain is "needed" before you cry "ignorance".
Is it too hard to just ask that the community of Kin Lání (Flagstaff) not used Waste Water.. I mean Dook'o'oslííd (San Francisco Peak) is sacred too me cause when I drive back from Hoozdoh (Phoenix) once I see Dook'o'oslííd I know Dine Bike'yah (Navajo Nation) is just behind that mountain.
And once I drive throught the pass along 89 I never forget to greet my mother and tell her that her son has come home.
i think its funny how if someone is greedy or has a certain viewpoint you call them white. ignorant .

I'm not sure why I should be moved that some group considers the mountains "sacred". I mean, there's already a ski resort there, right?
I'm more interested in the long-term health effects of using the wastewater.

We will prevail and once again dominate our land, and by God we will claim our lands back including the San Francisco Peak

So you can make some money from it or can non-native people stay on those lands and follow the " natural life " when you get your lands back ?
