I'm a huge Transformers fan and believe it's directly because of this movie that the franchise is so venerable and well loved. By killing Optimus Prime, if even just for a short period of time, they turned him into a legend. Season 3, even with all it's blemishes, really took the Transformers to a whole new level.

@aquelescaraaaaaaaaaa That wasn't Bumblebee it was Bumper that Autobot Strategist. LOL FYI: Bumper was the name of a Bumblebee colored car that was packaged as Cliffjumper by mistake so he got the nickname Bumper. How else do you explain there are two Bumblebee's in the movie. LOL
