  • When I did this it, made me sad to have to kill a friend, but I'm in control of the Templars now, not to mention Kirkwall, I'd say it's worth it, although I do hate having to kill him, I'll probably do all his quests to get him to survive, where's his gifts?

  • @bworover To the best of my knowledge, he only has one: in Act 2, during Fenris's quest A Bitter Pill, you can nab a Tevinter Amulet.

  • @bworover Even if you give him all of his gifts, he's still going to force this confrontation. The only way you can side with the Templars and still let him live is to be in a rivalry romance, and even then he implies that he's going to kill himself later. :(

  • "Kirkwall is my home, and I intend to protect it"

    "From us... from me"

DON'T LOOK ALL HEARTBROKEN YOU FAGGOT YOU BLEW UP THE CHANTRY.

  • @MelOneHalf If I was in mage!Hawke's shoes, I'd be tempted to have done the same thing.

  • Innocent priests huh ....ya you tell that to the Dalish !!!

  • LOLOLOLOL 'innocent priests' Well, I guess that confirms no bystanders were killed in the explosion. The priests and sisters choose to be part of a corrupt organization. This puts me even more at ease siding with Anders.

  • @EccentricSage No, it doesn't. Hawke did not go into the rubble of the chantry and search for bodies. There is no evidence to say whether there were innocent Kirkwallers in the Chantry then, and the chunks of debris from the explosion would have surely killed at least one innocent bystander. And another thing, the priests and sisters rarely know that they're part of a corrupt organisation - so your point is moot. If it was just Sister Petrice in there, then I'd feel better about it IMO :P.

  • Thank God for the patch that lets him live through this huh? Max Rivalmance (or just rivalry, forgot if you NEED to be in a relationship, give him all his gifts and do all his side-quests, and he feels crushing remorse for his actions and joins you.

  • only* Sorry, dunno why I put almost

  • I felt like I was about to throw up when I sided with the templars and killed Anders. I could only think, 'Holy shit.holy shit, I just killed anders! What have I done!?' Thinking about meeting him for the first time in DA:A and fighting alongside him and Oghren. I was so happy to see him again in this game. Then just killing him. I mean it, I really did almost puke. And I didn't even have a romance with him at the time. This was almost my second play. First I was with the mages..and fenris still

  • @AkumiXKatsuya I can't bear to kill him in my games either; that's why it's more heartbreaking when you want to let him go but he comes back and forces you to kill him. :(

  • I think I just died a little inside...

  • When he says "Let's end this," it breaks my heart to realize he doesn't only mean the battle but their relationship.

  • @Sapphire1992 Me too. :(

  • @inlovewithtruth And here I thought I was the only one that got emotional about killing Anders during a romance playthrough. I created one of my female Hawkes just to romance him and see if I could kill him at the end. I sided with the templars and killed him. Finished the whole game with that. I felt so bad. I reloaded from that point, sided with the Mages and let him live. It's just a game but I felt invested in him and our relationship. Good character development Bioware.

  • @dalendria you can romance him as a male you know...

  • @dalendria in the newest patch, you can keep anders alive even if you side with the templars if you rivalromance him and complete his companion quests. he'll fight along side you, but he isn't mentioned in the epilogue.

  • I have never, not even once, had the heart to be cruel to Anders, except at the end of my first playthrough. I was outraged at him, so I killed him...... and then paused the game and cried. After that, I've always taken him with me into the battle. No killing Anders, no way, no how, I can't stand that.

  • Ahhh Hawkes Back Off.

    Bethany got it

Now Anders who else for the Back Off!

  • makes me want to cry when he walks away

  • @16Kalinna Me too. :(

  • I usually side with the Templars now, and absolutely forget Anders, but this has shown me again why I love him. Then to top everything off, I have to kill him to keep Sebastian, because that mans voice is like butter on hot metal. D:

One of these days, I'll walk up to Bioware, and slap them in the face. They really trolled us on this one.

  • @UndesiredDeath LMFAO! i love you! lets do it together! :)

  • your sword disappears right after u put it away

  • I was hoping for a hug.

  • The "from me" broke my heart :,(

  • What's with the 3 times same thing repeat play ?

  • @Cutewhineyboy I wanted to show people the entire line of dialog for all three options.

  • I think if this happened to me I would side with Meredith but I couldn't kill anders. Noooo way :(

  • @MizLuvOranges If you side with Meredith and let Anders go, he comes back and Bioware gives you no choice but to kill him. :-(

  • @SolonaCousland Screw that then.. romance Fenris and side with the mages. This way, I keep cute, tortured Anders and sexy Fenris :) yaaaaay

  • @SolonaCousland They should have put in a "Knock him out, steal his fluffy feathers and run like hell" option.

  • I want a hug from the knight commander...

  • "Let's End This" No ... no let's not. I really hate bioware for only giving options and endings that have no real goodside. I mean, I understand they want this whole "consequence" thing going on, where you loose companion or have to fight friends if you do things they don't like, but they haven't even given us any option to go the other way. If it was up to me, Id have sided with neither and mages or templars, taken down Meredith, helped Anders and then free the mages. :(

  • @xmaster2 Really. I wanted an option to agree with him but I guess that may have alienated the other party members so they left it out.

  • @xmaster2 It's an odd situation, best summed up this way:

When you rival Anders, Hawke essentially breaks him,and he doubts his cause and the will of Justice.

When you friend him, he is reassured of his cause and feels indistinct from Justice.

A broken Anders will feel badly for what he has done, seeing himself as the very thing he defended mages were NOT. He agrees to help Hawke, but hints at taking his own life afterwards.

A reassured Anders will never turn on the mages: not even for Hawke.
