@EnigmaDrath The point is that he's good at everything except his job. The last few lines reveal he knows less about tactics than a nun and can't tell the difference between a rifle and a spear.
@EnigmaDrath If you have served in the military, it is a huge plus to have vast knowledge of mathematics, science, and political science. Those types are what we call officers and usually the best of the brightest tend to have the highest rank which consists of O-6, O-7, O-8, and O-9. It's no different in the 19th century to the 21st.
The libretto calls for the pauses when the MG thinks up a final rhyme for each verse ("bothered for next rhyme", "struck with an idea"), but the encore I think is just tradition. It's not in the originals. You can see entire original prompt books with stage directions added by hand, at Boise State's G&S Archive: math.boisestate.edu/gas/index.html
Doe anyone know... is the encore he gives actually in the script? Because they do the same thing in the movie version of this, and I could never tell if they were just emulating this performance (even with the same mistake) or what.
Love your comment, would like to hear Salarian opinion about it. Salarians not much into music, I gather? Doesn't matter, still agitated by music of other races. No sense in doing stuff other people have done so well for you.

The fact that Gilbert and Sullivan made plays that included such lyrics is awesome. Fuck rap this is where it's at. And rap/hip hop was not from the US it was stolen from various countries. The only real things that the US contributed to the music industry is tap dance and jazz. Goodnight the troll has been fed
@ScottishCaledonian - You know that Gilbert and Sullivan invented rap, don't you? Don't let anyone tell you differently. (the Gregorian Monks don't count)
@ScottishCaledonian --Although I would agree that this fine actor does an astounding job of his rendition of this wonderful musical, I would not go as far as to compare his lyricist skills against todays hip-hop stars. This is very ludicrous statement and it goes to show your ignorance in hip-hop. What this actor does for ONE number, "rappers" have to do for an entire album, AND then do the same thing at concerts. Apples and Oranges my friend...
@GoGoFiasco How much money rappers make is completely irrelevent as thebly the same with how many people listen to it. Rap is moronic drivel, it is an insult to music and and it is probably the trashiest culture int he world.
@ScottishCaledonian-- you know what, you're entitled to your opinion (however misguided).. I'm not going to be another YouTube debater filling up someone's post, trying to win a battle of wits with an obviously unarmed individual. One of the best things about being a music lover, is having enough of an open mind to enjoy ALL types of music and not just the ones I understand and/or the culture attached. The underlying racism in your prose tells me this is a moot discussion. Take care! :-)
@ScottishCaledonian-- Not if your so-called criticism was just a criticism of just the hip-hop music, but then you go and call it a trashy culture as well when you know absoutely nothing about it. U say it's "moronic drivel", but only an idiot would try and be a music critic about music he doesn't know about. But then again, you're from the UK, and hip-hop was born in the USA, so it's not apart of your country's fabric. So why continue this conversation. It's pointless. So just click PLAY.
@ScottishCaledonian You weren't racist. The dude you're arguing with is just going by the stereotype that all hip-hop artists are black and that criticising hip-hop is equated to criticising black culture which, ironically, makes him racist. It's also ironic he should call you a racist but then assume a Brit doesn't know anything because "it was made in the U.S.". Ignore the idiot man, you're well in the right here.
@CStewie15 As usual.. One idiot comes to save another idiot... And by the way "Einstein," Nobody ever said hip hop was black--those are your words--not mine. I knew some other moron would put his two cents in... And I was right!
@GoGoFiasco Well, genius, hip-hop culture isn't a race, so for it to be racist as you so claim, it needs to have a specific race backed behind it. So either you're wrong or, you're a racist and you're wrong! Didn't you say something about not having the time to bother replying, yet you come back to check to see if there are "idiots" as well? What an absolute tool you are.
@CStewie15 --no stupid, I don't "come back to check.." I have better things to do with my time, besides why in the hell would you even poke your nose in a conversation that had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with you???? Why the hell do you care?? And for you to say that hip hop culture has nothing to do whatsoever about race, well you are as clueless as the bloke before you. PS, YouTube send you emails whenever there is a reply--moron!
@GoGoFiasco Well I didn't @ your name, I replied to the other guy! So you obviously came back to check! Haha, absolute fool. And I'm not allowed to weigh in on my opinion on something because it disagrees with your argument?
And it doesn't have anything to do with race. Blacks, Whites, Hispanic, Asians enjoy and like hip hop in just the same way that some Blacks, Whites, Hispanic and Asians don't all like hip hop and it's culture. Open your mind a little, idiot.
@CStewie15 Dude you just wanna argue just for the sake of arguing.. Get a life. Nobody cares about what you think you moron.. I was talking about his tone in OUR conversation, but whatever... U win. U feel validated now loser?
@GoGoFiasco Not really. If I had wanted to argue, I would've replied at you telling you why you were wrong. Instead, because you "left to go do more important things", I spoke to the other person. You just HAD to come back though. And how did you get racist overtones in a body of text? Text is read aloud in your own head, so YOU read it as racism. I also like that you call me a loser right after you said I "won". Shows your hypocrisy and general ignorance for the millionth time.
@CStewie15 You really are bored, aren't you? U keep trying to prove a point and the fact that you went as far as "to talk to the other person" is beyond ludicrous. What the hell do you want anyway? Drop it dude (or dudette).. Who cares. Really. I have my opinion, you have yours. What's the point of dragging this???
@GoGoFiasco I'm just replying to you, it's not trying to prove a point at all. And opinions can be wrong, case in point, yours. Now get out of here with your care free attitude. Toodles. :)
@GoGoFiasco And that's why you're leaving obviously. The toodles was a kind way of saying "get out while you can because you're out of your depth here".
@CStewie15 -- Bwahahahahaha! That's the best you can do? Really? Criticize "goodnite?" That's your comeback? U really need to get a life. L-I-F-E. "Life."
@GoGoFiasco My "comeback" was explaining how wrong you were previously. Which you had no counter-argument for, might I add and instead resorting to insulting me. Good job, kid. Isn't it past your bedtime now? :)
@CStewie15 You are right. I have no counter arguement, because none is needed. You are the Very Model of Modern Major Moron. Bon soir et avoir un bon vie! :)
@GoGoFiasco "I haven't got one so I'll just leave now" is all I got from those few sentences. This is like the 5th time you've said you're going to go, by the way.
@CStewie15 I'm not going to argue because it's pointless. You're pointless. Just the fact that you sit there and eagerly await a response is amusing to me to say the least.
@GoGoFiasco " I'm not going to argue because it's pointless". Yet you come back. "You're pointless". Yet you come back. "Just the fact that you sit there and eagerly await a response is amusing to me to say the least." That you're amused by something like this says a lot about your personality. And who says I "eagerly" await a response? I'm not just staring at my screen waiting for an email. In fact, I'd rather like it if you just fucked off! :D
@CStewie15 -- There it is. With all your pseudo-intellect bullshit, telling me to fuck off it the least of your desires. U have some fucked up need to be right & to show the world how smart you are when in actuality, you're probably just some lonely little perv, hiding behind his computer screen where if we were to actually meet, I'd probably kick your face in just for the hell of it, but you're used to that aren't you? And this is why you do what you do. But you're still a weak little nothing.

This is very ludicrous statement and it goes to show your ignorance in hip-hop. What this actor does for ONE number, "rappers" have to do for an entire album, AND then do the same thing at concerts. Apples and Oranges my friend...

@GoGoFiasco HIP HOP is crude, disgusting, unsophistacated gutter trash.
ScottishCaledonian 4 months ago
@ScottishCaledonian-- And yet it's loved by millions and rakes in BILLIONS of dollars each year--WORLD WIDE.. PS, spellcheck is your friend.. :)
GoGoFiasco 4 months ago
@GoGoFiasco How much money rappers make is completely irrelevent as thebly the same with how many people listen to it. Rap is moronic drivel, it is an insult to music and and it is probably the trashiest culture int he world.
And forget my spelling it's not important.

Take care! :-)

@GoGoFiasco So it is racist to criticise hip hop ?
ScottishCaledonian 4 months ago
@ScottishCaledonian-- Not if your so-called criticism was just a criticism of just the hip-hop music, but then you go and call it a trashy culture as well when you know absoutely nothing about it. U say it's "moronic drivel", but only an idiot would try and be a music critic about music he doesn't know about. But then again, you're from the UK, and hip-hop was born in the USA, so it's not apart of your country's fabric. So why continue this conversation. It's pointless. So just click PLAY.

@GoGoFiasco What does culture have to do with race ? What did I say that ws racist ?
ScottishCaledonian 4 months ago
@ScottishCaledonian You weren't racist. The dude you're arguing with is just going by the stereotype that all hip-hop artists are black and that criticising hip-hop is equated to criticising black culture which, ironically, makes him racist. It's also ironic he should call you a racist but then assume a Brit doesn't know anything because "it was made in the U.S.". Ignore the idiot man, you're well in the right here.
CStewie15 4 months ago
@CStewie15 As usual.. One idiot comes to save another idiot... And by the way "Einstein," Nobody ever said hip hop was black--those are your words--not mine. I knew some other moron would put his two cents in... And I was right!
GoGoFiasco 4 months ago
@GoGoFiasco Well, genius, hip-hop culture isn't a race, so for it to be racist as you so claim, it needs to have a specific race backed behind it. So either you're wrong or, you're a racist and you're wrong! Didn't you say something about not having the time to bother replying, yet you come back to check to see if there are "idiots" as well? What an absolute tool you are.
CStewie15 4 months ago
@CStewie15 --no stupid, I don't "come back to check.." I have better things to do with my time, besides why in the hell would you even poke your nose in a conversation that had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with you???? Why the hell do you care?? And for you to say that hip hop culture has nothing to do whatsoever about race, well you are as clueless as the bloke before you. PS, YouTube send you emails whenever there is a reply--moron!
GoGoFiasco 4 months ago

GoGoFiasco 4 months ago
@GoGoFiasco Not really. If I had wanted to argue, I would've replied at you telling you why you were wrong. Instead, because you "left to go do more important things", I spoke to the other person. You just HAD to come back though. And how did you get racist overtones in a body of text? Text is read aloud in your own head, so YOU read it as racism. I also like that you call me a loser right after you said I "won". Shows your hypocrisy and general ignorance for the millionth time.
CStewie15 4 months ago
@CStewie15 You really are bored, aren't you? U keep trying to prove a point and the fact that you went as far as "to talk to the other person" is beyond ludicrous. What the hell do you want anyway? Drop it dude (or dudette).. Who cares. Really. I have my opinion, you have yours. What's the point of dragging this???
GoGoFiasco 4 months ago
@GoGoFiasco I'm just replying to you, it's not trying to prove a point at all. And opinions can be wrong, case in point, yours. Now get out of here with your care free attitude. Toodles. :)
CStewie15 4 months ago
@CStewie15 -- U call it a carefree attitude, I call it "Bullshit repellant.." And it seems to be working as we speak! Ciao! :)
GoGoFiasco 4 months ago
@GoGoFiasco And that's why you're leaving obviously. The toodles was a kind way of saying "get out while you can because you're out of your depth here".

@CStewie15 -- Whatever you think is clever... Just keep telling yourself that so you'll feel superior.. Not.

@GoGoFiasco Okay, bye racist.

@CStewie15 Goodnite moron.
GoGoFiasco 4 months ago
@GoGoFiasco Goodnight* That's how it's spelt "moron".
CStewie15 4 months ago
@CStewie15 -- Bwahahahahaha! That's the best you can do? Really? Criticize "goodnite?" That's your comeback? U really need to get a life. L-I-F-E. "Life."
GoGoFiasco 4 months ago
@GoGoFiasco My "comeback" was explaining how wrong you were previously. Which you had no counter-argument for, might I add and instead resorting to insulting me. Good job, kid. Isn't it past your bedtime now? :)
CStewie15 4 months ago
@CStewie15 You are right. I have no counter arguement, because none is needed. You are the Very Model of Modern Major Moron. Bon soir et avoir un bon vie! :)
GoGoFiasco 4 months ago
@GoGoFiasco "I haven't got one so I'll just leave now" is all I got from those few sentences. This is like the 5th time you've said you're going to go, by the way.
CStewie15 4 months ago
@CStewie15 I'm not going to argue because it's pointless. You're pointless. Just the fact that you sit there and eagerly await a response is amusing to me to say the least.
GoGoFiasco 4 months ago
@GoGoFiasco " I'm not going to argue because it's pointless". Yet you come back. "You're pointless". Yet you come back. "Just the fact that you sit there and eagerly await a response is amusing to me to say the least." That you're amused by something like this says a lot about your personality. And who says I "eagerly" await a response? I'm not just staring at my screen waiting for an email. In fact, I'd rather like it if you just fucked off! :D
CStewie15 4 months ago
@CStewie15 -- There it is. With all your pseudo-intellect bullshit, telling me to fuck off it the least of your desires. U have some fucked up need to be right & to show the world how smart you are when in actuality, you're probably just some lonely little perv, hiding behind his computer screen where if we were to actually meet, I'd probably kick your face in just for the hell of it, but you're used to that aren't you? And this is why you do what you do. But you're still a weak little nothing.
