  • I am the very model of a scientist salarian,

i've studied species turian, asari and batarian.

    I'm quite good at genetics

    (as subset of biology)

    because i am an expert

(which i know is a tautology)

My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian,

I am the very model of a scientist salarian.

  • Am I the only on who thought I could never learn this and after watching this a thousand times I know the entire song.

  • @armorsmith95 u know u can search up the lyrics right??

  • ok you did not hear this from me But my Dad play the Major Geaneral in the Pirates of Penzance a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very long time ago.

  • At 0:23, you can see the little white bobby hat coming in through the entrance. Funny 'cause he's supposed to be unseen while entering.

  • I came here because of Mass Effect 2 lol

  • @VVounded LOL So I am not the only one!

  • Okay, can I just say one thing? Linda Ronstadt has a lovely voice, but she is TOTALLY WRONG for Mabel!!! They had to take her song down like a fifth! She is not a soprano!

  • I watch this every four years XD

  • I keep referring back to this one; the best Major General I've yet to see on YT & there are a lot of good ones out there. I haven't seen this aria performed this well since I saw Glenn Freeze sing it in Downey back in the early 1980s.

I would pay to see this particular production not once, but 3 times. That is how good it is. In a word-- BRAVO!!!

  • As much as I love this version there are a few things that bug me .-. I don't believe mable should be so "belty" and the pirates and daughters should play with the major general a bit more. He goes a great job but he isn't quirky like the character. But I love how the pirates interact with the audience. :)

  • Go Mordin!

  • @MidnightSkyline I hear he is the very model of a scientist salarian

  • @MidnightSkyline HAHAHA!

  • This is the best performance of this piece I have seen on Youtube. I LOVE this piece it is done Brilliantly here.

  • awesome

  • I'm a young adult who grew up in the late 80's and 90's, teened on late 90's rock and loved the opera like piles...

And still, this song makes me laugh...

  • @jim0van0song the late 90's

    THE 1890s!!!!!!!

  • i have to memorize this for public speaking. Uh ohh

  • Its a good production...just take away the xylophone and jangle-piano, as they weren't in the original score and it would be perfect.

  • he is not only on fire

    he is FLAMEN

  • I love it when video games send you in such places... :D

  • I had to remember I am the very model of a modern major general for theater class it was so hard. I did just as fast as him!!

  • Great performer, you can tell he loves what he does.

  • I love Mass Effect fans

  • this guy man, blew my mind.

  • I'm sorry, I know that was important but... you performed Gilbert and Sullivan?!

  • 1:54 lol at the guy to the left

  • 0:51

  • I got winded just listening to him

  • How terrible this fab actor ened up murdered by homophobes....

  • My god he changes key

    HOW.

  • LIKE A BOSS!

  • In 6th grade, a kid played his role and passed out trying to sing this song.

  • @stephaniemydear HAHAHAHA!!! That's fantastic!

  • mass effect brought me. like everyone else.

  • I am the very model of a scientist salarian.

  • There's...antimony, arsenic, aluminum, selenium, and hydrogen and oxygen and nitrogen and rhenium, and nickel, neodymium, neptunium, germanium and iron, americium, ruthenium, uranium. Europeum, zirconium, lutenium, vanadium, and lanthanum, and osmium, and astatine and radium, and gold and protactinium and indium and gallium. And iodine and thorium and thullium and thallium...

  • @fluffysnape sorry this was first in the 1800s

  • Lol the videos lagging just a bit cuz it can't keep up with the major-general XD

  • What on earth is that pianist doing? Is he in league with the Xylo player with the shaky hands?

  • If you look at the pirates, they're just like.. O.O well fuck.

  • Thank you, leap pad. :)

  • he's is quiet amazing!! props to this guy!

  • That was fantastic.

  • ... What does any of that have to do with being a Major-General? XD

  • @EnigmaDrath The point is that he's good at everything except his job. The last few lines reveal he knows less about tactics than a nun and can't tell the difference between a rifle and a spear.

  • @EnigmaDrath If you have served in the military, it is a huge plus to have vast knowledge of mathematics, science, and political science. Those types are what we call officers and usually the best of the brightest tend to have the highest rank which consists of O-6, O-7, O-8, and O-9. It's no different in the 19th century to the 21st.

  • I would have hated trying that on a live stage.

  • This guy would be an aweSoME raPpeR.

  • Not as good as Colonel Angus! (SNL reference)

  • His brother is the micro machines guy from the old school commercials.

  • he would make an awesome rapper lol

  • I am the very model of a Commissar Imperial

From my early days in Schola I was officer material

I venerate the Emperor, to do less would be antithetical

My life is hard, spent drilling Guard, and purging thoughts heretical!

  • Animaniacs!

  • Theres a frog in the log in the hole in the bottom of the sea

  • This caused a great state of flabbergastery upon myself.

I'm truly speechless and unable to describe my feelings towards this.

    Bravo.

  • Once I was the very model of a modern major general. But then I got a arrow in my knee.

  • @CptBennu *Facepalm*

  • AWESOME.

  • This is what I was supposed to do in 6th grade?

    ...Fuck.

  • Video's lagging o.O

  • We had to sing diz for School Boring SWAGG

  • This is the part my dad played. Fucking love this song.

  • So, in a word, he's Jesus.

  • The volume of the whole band during the full choir section is too damn high.

  • @IcedOutNation As is the rent!

  • I thought that the actor playing the general was singing fast in the beginning, then at 4:13 he just goes crazy.Awesome performance

  • Afalstein-

The libretto calls for the pauses when the MG thinks up a final rhyme for each verse ("bothered for next rhyme", "struck with an idea"), but the encore I think is just tradition. It's not in the originals. You can see entire original prompt books with stage directions added by hand, at Boise State's G&S Archive: math.boisestate.edu/gas/index.html

  • Doe anyone know... is the encore he gives actually in the script? Because they do the same thing in the movie version of this, and I could never tell if they were just emulating this performance (even with the same mistake) or what.

  • @Afalstein it's in the script. :D

  • There's antimony, arsenic, aluminum, selenium,

And hydrogen and oxygen and nitrogen and rhenium,

    And nickel, neodymium, neptunium, germanium,

    And iron, americium, ruthenium, uranium,

    Europium, zirconium, lutetium, vanadium,

And lanthanum and osmium and astatine and radium,

And gold and protactinium and indium and gallium,

And iodine and thorium and thulium and thallium.

  • This is why I love Gilbert and Sullivan

  • I am the very model of a Scientist Salarian

I've Studied species Turian, Asari, and Batarian

I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of Biology)

  • @mooseman452

Love your comment, would like to hear Salarian opinion about it. Salarians not much into music, I gather? Doesn't matter, still agitated by music of other races. No sense in doing stuff other people have done so well for you.

OK, 45 now, going to die.

    cya^^

  • @mooseman452 they should make a mass effect musical :D

  • @mooseman452 I prefer Mordin's version.

  • @mooseman452 cute my friend!

  • Thumbs up if a Geico Commercial brought you here!

  • I am the very model of a modern bad ass Dovahkiin,

I've stolen everything from everywhere that I've ever been,

I am the thane of Whiterun, and I hoard every potato skin

From Winterhold to Cyrodiil, I have raided every trash bin.

I'm very well acquainted, too, with matters of the dragon kin,

I understand their language, and the reason for their dorsal fin,

About mischief and mayhem I'm teeming with a lot of news,

With many cheerful backstabs that cause my foes much abuse.

  • I love the xylophone!!!! It's having a hard time keeping up tho....

  • @IVforGTA .... The joke is that he is a terrible modern major general. "When I can tell the difference from a mauser riffle and javelin at sight."

  • @IVforGTA HAHAHA and I'm playing Mass Effect 2 at this very moment!!! That made my day, thank you

  • @thecapp2 That sounds like something my bestie would say...she loves llamas...

  • Ladies first.

  • Thumbs up if you've been brought here by Professor Mordin Solus

  • The fact that Gilbert and Sullivan made plays that included such lyrics is awesome. Fuck rap this is where it's at. And rap/hip hop was not from the US it was stolen from various countries. The only real things that the US contributed to the music industry is tap dance and jazz. Goodnight the troll has been fed

  • I know our mythic history, King Arthur's and Sir Caradoc's;

I answer hard acrostics, I've a pretty taste for paradox,

I quote in elegiacs all the crimes of Heliogabalus,

In conics I can floor peculiarities parabolous.

    LMFAO...

    REALLY!?

  • And tbh, that is some amazing xylophoning

  • I thought the guy at the bottom was really enjoying it until I realised he was the conductor

  • Lyrics please.... Backwards >:3

  • Dude I'm SO not going there with you.. Waaay to much typing and besides, I'm trying to listen this song..

  • Get off his level Busta Rhymes!

  • Best Major-General of all the Major-Generals I've seen in this production.

  • A xylophone?!?

  • 1:53 ; Kid Scruff is listening a little too intently.

  • Good show

  • Gosh, the poor xylophone player!

  • With many scary facts about the scary hippopotamus!

  • There's antimony, arsenic, aluminum, selenium,

  • Haha, VeggieTales and ME2 have expanded my exposure to the arts.

  • CULTUREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WAVES OF CULTURE WASH OVER ME

  • Thank you Mass Effect.

  • did anyone see that one episode of Babylon 5 where Marcus was singing this driving Doctor Franklin insane! that was great, man i love that show.

  • eminem try and do that!

  • my mouth can't move that fast !!

  • This guy puts rappers to shame

  • @ScottishCaledonian - You know that Gilbert and Sullivan invented rap, don't you? Don't let anyone tell you differently. (the Gregorian Monks don't count)

  • @ScottishCaledonian --Although I would agree that this fine actor does an astounding job of his rendition of this wonderful musical, I would not go as far as to compare his lyricist skills against todays hip-hop stars. This is very ludicrous statement and it goes to show your ignorance in hip-hop. What this actor does for ONE number, "rappers" have to do for an entire album, AND then do the same thing at concerts. Apples and Oranges my friend...

  • @GoGoFiasco HIP HOP is crude, disgusting, unsophistacated gutter trash.

  • @ScottishCaledonian-- And yet it's loved by millions and rakes in BILLIONS of dollars each year--WORLD WIDE.. PS, spellcheck is your friend.. :)

  • @GoGoFiasco How much money rappers make is completely irrelevent as thebly the same with how many people listen to it. Rap is moronic drivel, it is an insult to music and and it is probably the trashiest culture int he world.

And forget my spelling it's not important.

  • @ScottishCaledonian-- you know what, you're entitled to your opinion (however misguided).. I'm not going to be another YouTube debater filling up someone's post, trying to win a battle of wits with an obviously unarmed individual. One of the best things about being a music lover, is having enough of an open mind to enjoy ALL types of music and not just the ones I understand and/or the culture attached. The underlying racism in your prose tells me this is a moot discussion. Take care! :-)

  • @GoGoFiasco So it is racist to criticise hip hop ?

  • @ScottishCaledonian-- Not if your so-called criticism was just a criticism of just the hip-hop music, but then you go and call it a trashy culture as well when you know absoutely nothing about it. U say it's "moronic drivel", but only an idiot would try and be a music critic about music he doesn't know about. But then again, you're from the UK, and hip-hop was born in the USA, so it's not apart of your country's fabric. So why continue this conversation. It's pointless. So just click PLAY.

  • @GoGoFiasco What does culture have to do with race ? What did I say that ws racist ?

  • @ScottishCaledonian You weren't racist. The dude you're arguing with is just going by the stereotype that all hip-hop artists are black and that criticising hip-hop is equated to criticising black culture which, ironically, makes him racist. It's also ironic he should call you a racist but then assume a Brit doesn't know anything because "it was made in the U.S.". Ignore the idiot man, you're well in the right here.

  • @CStewie15 As usual.. One idiot comes to save another idiot... And by the way "Einstein," Nobody ever said hip hop was black--those are your words--not mine. I knew some other moron would put his two cents in... And I was right!

  • @GoGoFiasco Well, genius, hip-hop culture isn't a race, so for it to be racist as you so claim, it needs to have a specific race backed behind it. So either you're wrong or, you're a racist and you're wrong! Didn't you say something about not having the time to bother replying, yet you come back to check to see if there are "idiots" as well? What an absolute tool you are.

  • @CStewie15 --no stupid, I don't "come back to check.." I have better things to do with my time, besides why in the hell would you even poke your nose in a conversation that had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with you???? Why the hell do you care?? And for you to say that hip hop culture has nothing to do whatsoever about race, well you are as clueless as the bloke before you. PS, YouTube send you emails whenever there is a reply--moron!

  • @GoGoFiasco Well I didn't @ your name, I replied to the other guy! So you obviously came back to check! Haha, absolute fool. And I'm not allowed to weigh in on my opinion on something because it disagrees with your argument?

And it doesn't have anything to do with race. Blacks, Whites, Hispanic, Asians enjoy and like hip hop in just the same way that some Blacks, Whites, Hispanic and Asians don't all like hip hop and it's culture. Open your mind a little, idiot.

  • @CStewie15 Dude you just wanna argue just for the sake of arguing.. Get a life. Nobody cares about what you think you moron.. I was talking about his tone in OUR conversation, but whatever... U win. U feel validated now loser?

  • @GoGoFiasco Not really. If I had wanted to argue, I would've replied at you telling you why you were wrong. Instead, because you "left to go do more important things", I spoke to the other person. You just HAD to come back though. And how did you get racist overtones in a body of text? Text is read aloud in your own head, so YOU read it as racism. I also like that you call me a loser right after you said I "won". Shows your hypocrisy and general ignorance for the millionth time.

  • @CStewie15 You really are bored, aren't you? U keep trying to prove a point and the fact that you went as far as "to talk to the other person" is beyond ludicrous. What the hell do you want anyway? Drop it dude (or dudette).. Who cares. Really. I have my opinion, you have yours. What's the point of dragging this???

  • @GoGoFiasco I'm just replying to you, it's not trying to prove a point at all. And opinions can be wrong, case in point, yours. Now get out of here with your care free attitude. Toodles. :)

  • @CStewie15 -- U call it a carefree attitude, I call it "Bullshit repellant.." And it seems to be working as we speak! Ciao! :)

  • @GoGoFiasco And that's why you're leaving obviously. The toodles was a kind way of saying "get out while you can because you're out of your depth here".

  • @CStewie15 -- Whatever you think is clever... Just keep telling yourself that so you'll feel superior.. Not.

  • @GoGoFiasco Okay, bye racist.

  • @CStewie15 Goodnite moron.

  • @GoGoFiasco Goodnight* That's how it's spelt "moron".

  • @CStewie15 -- Bwahahahahaha! That's the best you can do? Really? Criticize "goodnite?" That's your comeback? U really need to get a life. L-I-F-E. "Life."

  • @GoGoFiasco My "comeback" was explaining how wrong you were previously. Which you had no counter-argument for, might I add and instead resorting to insulting me. Good job, kid. Isn't it past your bedtime now? :)

  • @CStewie15 You are right. I have no counter arguement, because none is needed. You are the Very Model of Modern Major Moron. Bon soir et avoir un bon vie! :)

  • @GoGoFiasco "I haven't got one so I'll just leave now" is all I got from those few sentences. This is like the 5th time you've said you're going to go, by the way.

  • @CStewie15 I'm not going to argue because it's pointless. You're pointless. Just the fact that you sit there and eagerly await a response is amusing to me to say the least.

  • @GoGoFiasco " I'm not going to argue because it's pointless". Yet you come back. "You're pointless". Yet you come back. "Just the fact that you sit there and eagerly await a response is amusing to me to say the least." That you're amused by something like this says a lot about your personality. And who says I "eagerly" await a response? I'm not just staring at my screen waiting for an email. In fact, I'd rather like it if you just fucked off! :D

  • @CStewie15 -- There it is. With all your pseudo-intellect bullshit, telling me to fuck off it the least of your desires. U have some fucked up need to be right & to show the world how smart you are when in actuality, you're probably just some lonely little perv, hiding behind his computer screen where if we were to actually meet, I'd probably kick your face in just for the hell of it, but you're used to that aren't you? And this is why you do what you do. But you're still a weak little nothing.
