So, you mentioned the GM plant. I was assigned there during the last ever product launch at Doraville assembly.
I had a house on Peachford Road, 2.5 miles from the plant. When I moved in late '06 the real estate market was still largely vibrant and had no trouble in selling. (three weeks and it was gone)
Watching your video essays on the metro Atlanta environs makes me homesick for a place where I lived for a bit over 2 years.
160 miles? You certainly did an impressive amount of driving in one day!
Too bad to hear the GM plant in Doraville closed, as I didn't realize that plant had closed. OTOH, I'm not completely surprised to hear it closed, since GM has been closing more and more plants down in the last few years, such as one that operated in Janesville, WI. I also knew Ford closed a plant in south Atlanta a few years ago.
That's me exit 3.

I was just listening to some Satriani myself when I put up this video :)
Great tour again, but it's kinda weird to have an outer beltway that's so far inside the urban area of Atlanta nowadays.

Thanks.
When I-285 was first built (1957-1969) it wasn't considered part of the urban area, Atlanta's growth has just exploded in the last 30 years.

Nice video, man.
That pick-up truck towing those cars almost took you out. It seems like we roadgeeks have "hit me" written on our vehicles (lol).

Thanks!
Yes that was indeed as close as it looked, I laid on the horn.

And it looked like he/she really didn't have any reason to sideswipe you like that. Well, there's never reason, but... you know (lol).
