The story has been made official by Gamesworkshop. The blood ravens is in fact a real chapter now (since the 2 unexplained primarchs) and the Captain Angelos saga is real.

They aren't even technically free-willing soldiers. Gameplay wise, DoW has a lot to thank to Blizzard. Universe wise, Blizzard has a lot to thank to Warhammer.

Actually, you'll find that the Grey Knights are the best psycher warriors as they are completely made up of warriors with psychic powers. According to myth, the Blood Ravens are descended from the Thousand Sons Legion who were not present at prospero when Leman Russ and the Space Wolves drove them into the warp.

Technically Blood Ravens are the best physker-wise, as according to books and other details about them, the Blood Ravens have more Librarians than any other chapter. Also they have a council of Librarians leading the chapter rather than one Chapter Master.

technically the Blood Ravens are the best Space Marine Chapter because there's good ranged combat (Tactical and Devastator Squads) AND really good close combat (Force Commander and Assault Marines).

Each codex chapter has 1000 fighting brothers divided into ten companies.

1st company is so called veteran company - Terminators, vanguard (close combat) and sternguard (ranged) veterans, Land Raiders and Dreadnoughts.

Companies 2nd-5th are battle companies each with six tactical, 3 assault and 3 devastator squads.

6th and 7th companies hold reserve of assault squads, 8th and 9th are all devastators. 10th company is for scouts.

Well... I would rather say that the Grey Knights (if we consider them a regular chapter) are ones of the bests - more powerful than regular marines, all are psykers, all are pure (not even a single member was tainted by chaos) and there is about 3000 of them.

Blood Ravens are not more powerful than any other codex chapter.

There is also one very interesting chapter you should look at - Mentors - these guys fight, learn and modify their tactics and weaponry to best counter enemy.

And if you say Blizzard stole Orks and Elves from GW, then you could say that GW stole those same ideas from the works of J.R.R. Tolkein.

The fantasy genre's base elements, such as races and conflicts, have been borrowed, reshaped, and reused time and again by corporations, including GW.

So don't make out like it's Blizzard "stealing" ideas.

Starcraft 2 is popular because it's a 1 to 1 copy from the original game, with some additions. It's popular, because it's SC1 with better graphics. Dawn of War and the Warhammer universe (classic/40k) have the one and simple problem of being relatively unknown to the vast majority of people, or being to abstract or confusing. None of Blizz' games has that problem to begin with.
