@ledzepgirl92 Lets keep it civil, please. No one eats "tons" of meat - maybe within a period of many years. Hundreds of years of anthropological records, archaeology, evolutionary nutrition and millions of years of human evolution do not lie. ->
@FemmeBleu "You cant grow beans to make soy (tofu) burgers in the Arctic. Therefore we didn't evolve on beans and grains." There is just no logic in this post. How is the nutrition of inuits related to the evolution of the entire human race? We didn't solely evolve in the arctic. I meanwhile think you're just trolling. The inuits aren't my ancestors, and most precisely humankind has been omnivores, the meat consumption in most parts of the world has never been as high as today.
@FemmeBleu You, who you threw cancer in this discussion, talk about keeping it civil? If you bother to read my comment again, you'd see that I mentioned animal products, not just exclusively meat. Your reply just doesn't make sense - I only asked you whether you think the consumption of loads of animals products is healher than eating tofu. Now you make an unrelated comment about ignoring the wisdom of ancestors. Are they wise because they had no other choice than eating meat?
@ledzepgirl92 "I only asked you whether you think the consumption of loads of animals products is healher than eating tofu."
My answer: YES.
Next, humans are who we are because of our ancestral diet of over 200,000 years - even 1. 7 million years of being omnivorous. When humans walked out of Africa they all hunted to EAT. It was the BEST nutritional choice. If you think references to reputable scientific magazines are: rambling(s), you are a lost cause. You don't value science or evolution.
@ledzepgirl92 Asians eat highly fermented soy based foods in small quantities, such as: tempeh, miso and soy sauce - they are by NO means the main course. Fermentation deactivates most of the trypsin inhibitors that cause gas, bloating, pain and diarrhea.
Chinese ate soy as a protein source only when they were starving (Manning, Against the Grain, p.71).
"Tofu was served as a condiment, consumed in small amounts, usually in *fish* broth, not as a main course" (Keith, The Vegetarian Myth, 212).
@FemmeBleu You are avoiding my question entirely. To refer to you mentioning fat - I never even talked about fat in my previous comment. The inuits are an extreme example and their situation is in no way related to the dietary choice of someone living in an industrialised society. You are just rambling around and try to conceal your avoidance of the actual question by throwing in unrelated studies and indirect attacks, like implying I'd " ignore the wisdom of SO many human ancestors".

You eat vegetable or tofu as i said because you want to get the benefit of tofu and eating it as it tastes should be which is soy bean taste. Also like you wouldnt make soya milk taste like cow milk because its soya milk.
@tongtong168 Not a clue what you're trying to say, but are you arguing with a fact? I was saying that some people can't have meat and would love to have that flavor again. Adding something that is normally added to meat does help. IF YOU WANT TO EAT TOFU FOR THE FLAVOR OF SOY BEANS, NO ONE IS SAYING THAT'S WRONG! Just that some people 'miss' the flavor of meat and one way to substitute is to use tofu in a way to make it more of a flavor like meat.
@Chls122 if you really "miss" the flavour of meat why be vegetarian? Just go and buy a piece of sirloin steak and cook it in BBQ sauce waever. If you "cant" have meat for any reason than that says your health condition needs more vegetable perhaps, by cooking vegetable in meat sauce is not going to solve the solution of you missing meat. Bottom line is tofu should NEVER cook in BBQ sauce or any meat sauce. Whatever the clip is showing is a disgrace to a good piece of tofu.
@tongtong168 I live in America, we cook anything the way we want to cook it. The way it suits our pallet. Get over yourself there are other people in this world with different tastes. It is just a lie by cooking tofu in BBQ sauce, you know i know it is still going to be tofu it is not going to be a piece of meat
@glitterbear27 i m glade you use the word "only" when its a scary 32%. Thats like saying 1 in every 3 Americans is at least overweight and 26% of those 32%(you do your Maths that is like saying quarter of those "fat" people are morbidly obese). Another word 8% or 1 in every 13 ppl are morbidly obese. It says alot glitterbear27. They either need to do something about it or American gov has to pay it back in the future from charging you more taxes to fund these medically fat ppl health problems
@blindfollower made up of soya bean(in chinese called yellow bean) with natural gypsum to solidify to become what it is tofu... From China then spread to other countries like Korea and Japan. read wiki for more info. You have eaten tofu before?
@tongtong168 Yes I do eat Tofu, it's taste varies depending on how it's prepared. I asked because I recently watched a video on how it's made and I noticed a chemical known as Nigara is used to curdle the soy milk, it didn't seem very healthy or natural.
@blindfollower That i dont know but natural gypsum(can be extracted from ginger for example) is the main thing being used to solidify the soy milk. It is being used for many many years. New method to do so that i cant comment much but doesnt sound nice.
@blindfollower Nigari is a natural salt which is used in combination with calcium Sulfate (gypsup) which is a natural salt. Also Glucono delta-lactone , which is also a natural acid which is used in the production of cheese. Papain is a natural enzyme which is used to further the formation and curd in the soymilk. Everything that is used in Tofu production is of a natural source and not brewed in some dark lab by a wild haired mad scientist. (only slightly bald maybe)
Cows give milk, because they're pregnant. For a cow to give milk through it's life, has to be kept pregnant all the time. Injecting hormons = more milk/cow.
This is incredibly stupid. I like tofu just fine, but it tastes and feels NOTHING like meat. Placing it whole, on a panini maker is not going to aproximate meat in any way.
Freezing ay? Never heard of that. I've tasted a load of different seasoned and prepared tofu and never felt it was like meat. I just like mine seasoned well with a browned and slightly chewy texture.
well if you whant tofu to taste like meat then just eat meat... its not like any cows are " saved " by vegetarians, if you really like meat then just eat it...
Soya, Quinoa are complete vegetarian/vegan protein, otherwise beans/lentels(dal) + cereals also make complete proteins. A lot of people in the world don't eat meat as much as we do for many various reasons (cultural, religious, ethical, economical). There are many cuisine and way of thinking about cooking that do not involve meat and are as delicious and tasty as our own cuisine. I think vegetarian and vegan cuisine open people to more variety. Don't only eat tofu ! Try everything.
aww nice delicious chicken wings. with KFC gravy. remember when you took your first bite of KFC hot wings and you felt the delicous taste tintle your tung? and now? your eating discusting fake meat and saying fuck the cicle of nature lets ingnore our entire existing and let us be depended on something that is made out of limited resources, and when there would be something such as a disaster on wich we have to eat meat to survive, you wouldnt now how.
@KjellHaften Well, cooking it is easy. However, making food and making good food are two completely different things, regardless of what you're making it with.
@MaximillianZakes a carnivore is something that eats ONLY the flesh of other creatures NOTHING else, if a human being was to eat nothing but flesh they would lose lost of weight and eventually die
I am very over weight and I am looking to loose weight by eating very little meat and eating eggs, tofu, and maybe some chicken as my sources of protein. I love all vegetables and eat about 1-2 bananas a day and am trying to eat more cereals like Honey Bunches of Oats, Rye Bread, and Rice for carbs. Is this good enough? Any tips? Also I ate tofu twice and hated it! My mother made tofu chilli which I hated. Tips to make it taste good?
The kind of food won't matter if you have a calorie surplus. Sign up for MyFitnessPal, count all your calories for a month and by the end of the month your head will turn into a calorie calculator. Eggs are somewhat high in fat, though. rice is not a good choice either, go with brown rice instead.
@WunderWafer actually what I came to find out was that I can get all my carbs from vegetables, fish, and olive oil. So that is what I am doing. Still havent made tofu but I eat a good portion of mostly vegetables. My protein sources are skinless chicken breast, sardines in olive oil, eggs, tuna, and cottage cheese. If I need to have sweets which I am eating less of, I go with Devils Food, or a serving size of Fig Newtons, or pudding. I hate brown rice though, cant stand the taste.
To have that fat ass Tom Horn start the video turned my stomach. He really looks like a walking heart attack. I know, I worked for a cardiologist. He is mean spirited, a political opportunist, and one of the worst politicians our state has been unfortunate enough to have. Good riddance to him and all his ilk.
@crazywanch101 plants are alive. some plants are literally still growing as you eat them. human beings need to eat things that were alive. to excise yourself from the corporate slaughter of animals is one thing. to pretend that you can survive without taking life is another..
@mellokittyx4 Yes we as humans need to eat nutritional live substances like plants. But meat eaters don't eat live things, they eat dead things that provide no nutritional balance to the human body. So I'd rather eat a live plant than a dead animal anyday.
Hi thanks for the tip i' yoose some time tofu other way 's and soya but like to no how long you marinade this you can do this also with Panir indian way its realy tasy I' prepair it surinam way more other spice's tast's are not like indian food but for the diffriice like to no thanks @marianis fot the tip

Step 3 - place the tofu in your trashcan
Step 4 - continue cooking as if nothing happened

If you going to cook tofu as i said may as well cook the way it should be in Chinese way, Japanese way or Korean way. It is just a lie by cooking tofu in BBQ sauce, you know i know it is still going to be tofu it is not going to be a piece of meat
tongtong168 3 months ago
@tongtong168 actually, only 32% of the population here in America are overweight and 26% are morbidly obese
glitterbear27 3 months ago
@glitterbear27 i m glade you use the word "only" when its a scary 32%. Thats like saying 1 in every 3 Americans is at least overweight and 26% of those 32%(you do your Maths that is like saying quarter of those "fat" people are morbidly obese). Another word 8% or 1 in every 13 ppl are morbidly obese. It says alot glitterbear27. They either need to do something about it or American gov has to pay it back in the future from charging you more taxes to fund these medically fat ppl health problems

@tongtong168 What is tofu made of?
blindfollower 1 month ago
@blindfollower made up of soya bean(in chinese called yellow bean) with natural gypsum to solidify to become what it is tofu... From China then spread to other countries like Korea and Japan. read wiki for more info. You have eaten tofu before?
tongtong168 1 month ago
@tongtong168 Yes I do eat Tofu, it's taste varies depending on how it's prepared. I asked because I recently watched a video on how it's made and I noticed a chemical known as Nigara is used to curdle the soy milk, it didn't seem very healthy or natural.
blindfollower 1 month ago
@blindfollower That i dont know but natural gypsum(can be extracted from ginger for example) is the main thing being used to solidify the soy milk. It is being used for many many years. New method to do so that i cant comment much but doesnt sound nice.
tongtong168 1 month ago
@blindfollower Nigari is a natural salt which is used in combination with calcium Sulfate (gypsup) which is a natural salt. Also Glucono delta-lactone , which is also a natural acid which is used in the production of cheese. Papain is a natural enzyme which is used to further the formation and curd in the soymilk. Everything that is used in Tofu production is of a natural source and not brewed in some dark lab by a wild haired mad scientist. (only slightly bald maybe)

Right!
Cows give milk, because they're pregnant. For a cow to give milk through it's life, has to be kept pregnant all the time. Injecting hormons = more milk/cow.
No matter if it lives in a cage or free range.

This is incredibly stupid. I like tofu just fine, but it tastes and feels NOTHING like meat. Placing it whole, on a panini maker is not going to aproximate meat in any way.

If tofu is pressed and dehydrated it can develop a texture. Then the tofu is marinate in soy sauce or a substitute until it suits your taste.

Here's my guide on how to make Tofu taste like meat:
Step 1: Throw away the tofu
Step 2: Put on a 16 oz. Steak
Step 3: Eat
Step 4: Enjoy being a carnivore
:-)
MaximillianZakes 8 months ago
@MaximillianZakes a carnivore is something that eats ONLY the flesh of other creatures NOTHING else, if a human being was to eat nothing but flesh they would lose lost of weight and eventually die

I could never support Animal killers and tofu can become whatever we want ^_^
to those who want to live a compassionate life, there's more alternatives!
- soy protein (just like meat, season the way you want. put hot water to make it soft for 5 to 10 minutes according to brands)
-tofu (never the way it comes like shown, always take the water off, season for half or one whole day)
-tempeh (just bought, can't wait to see the taste)
-seitan -it was unbelievable, it came ready
-mushrooms

I am very over weight and I am looking to loose weight by eating very little meat and eating eggs, tofu, and maybe some chicken as my sources of protein. I love all vegetables and eat about 1-2 bananas a day and am trying to eat more cereals like Honey Bunches of Oats, Rye Bread, and Rice for carbs. Is this good enough? Any tips? Also I ate tofu twice and hated it! My mother made tofu chilli which I hated. Tips to make it taste good?
Peidmonte89 8 months ago
@Peidmonte89
The kind of food won't matter if you have a calorie surplus. Sign up for MyFitnessPal, count all your calories for a month and by the end of the month your head will turn into a calorie calculator. Eggs are somewhat high in fat, though. rice is not a good choice either, go with brown rice instead.
WunderWafer 8 months ago
@WunderWafer actually what I came to find out was that I can get all my carbs from vegetables, fish, and olive oil. So that is what I am doing. Still havent made tofu but I eat a good portion of mostly vegetables. My protein sources are skinless chicken breast, sardines in olive oil, eggs, tuna, and cottage cheese. If I need to have sweets which I am eating less of, I go with Devils Food, or a serving size of Fig Newtons, or pudding. I hate brown rice though, cant stand the taste.
Peidmonte89 8 months ago
@Peidmonte89
While most vegetables are ok, potatoes, corn, beets, carrots and peas are high in simple sugars and should be limited.
WunderWafer 8 months ago
@Peidmonte89 Carbs from vegetables, ok, but fish and olive oil, certainly not. Carbs are not evils.

crazywanch101 1 year ago 3
@crazywanch101 plants are alive. some plants are literally still growing as you eat them. human beings need to eat things that were alive. to excise yourself from the corporate slaughter of animals is one thing. to pretend that you can survive without taking life is another..
mellokittyx4 1 year ago 3
@mellokittyx4 Yes we as humans need to eat nutritional live substances like plants. But meat eaters don't eat live things, they eat dead things that provide no nutritional balance to the human body. So I'd rather eat a live plant than a dead animal anyday.
