This song is absolutely amazing. I too agree that this is the style that suits his voice best. The guitar-driven, folksy-type songs are more lyric driven don't do his instrument justice. His glorious voice needs soaring melodies and arrangements like this! I hope he doesn't stop putting out music like this because that would be a shame. I think its good when artists try to challenge themselves musically but stripping away all the elements that make him great and let his voice soar is no good imo

@jgdmol4l Very well said. As a creative artist, Josh wants to experiment and try different musical sounds. But his voice was made for this type of grand and flowing arrangements. This is what makes him unique and special.

I'm going through a very rough time right now coz I just lost my mom about 2 weeks ago...and this song speaks directly to my heart.Thanks to whoever translated this song. It's kind of a bittersweet song as my mom's passing is still very fresh and raw...but the song seems to speak to me in such a way that it offers comfort and sometimes realizing that this is really what life is all about.

@arobyn991 I'm so sorry about your mother. I lost mine four years ago. There's nothing anyone can say to make it better, but time does help dull the pain, though it's never completely gone. Awake came out just after my mother passed and the title song really spoke to my heart. I am so glad that Josh's music can give you some measure of comfort.

@MdnightWnd I'm also sorry for the loss of your mom. How old was she, if you don't mind my asking? Mine was only 67, but when you look at her she looks like she was in her 40's....so full of life. Then this year, she was diagnosed with leukemia and she was gone after just 7 mos. It's like there's a big hole in my heart that nothing or no one can ever patch it again.

@AfternoonChowder Lyrics in translation are almost always cheesy and seemingly odd. there are often words that carry different sentiments and connotations in the native language that are lost in English entirely. Translating operatic lyrics almost always lose the emotion and relevance of the story line when in English. :(

@AfternoonChowder I really hate to say this but I am agreeing with you. When I first heard this song (like Voce Existe em Mim), i thought it was kinda messy. I had to listen again and again, and because it's our Josh singing, I had to accept it and love it, or at least let it grow on you. So I did. It is getting better with time but so far, I must agree that it is a step down from Closer :(. Nonetheless, let's all support him. He is ours to love!

@AfternoonChowder This IS a step down from Closer, but that was Josh at his best (in my opinion). It would be very hard to top it. I'm just glad there's at least one song on the album in the old style. The one complaint I have with this song is that he sounds like he's straining his voice.

I felt the same thing in "Voce Existe em Mim", cause I'm brazilian and speak portuguese, and I tried to translate it into English but I didn't like it, I couldn't find the exactly words in order not to lose the poetic meaning. But still, this song is beautiful in italian, even though is said.
