  • I'm 14, been playing the piano for 9 years and have been playing this song for 6 months but I will probably never play this as beautifully as Horowitz

  • Plays true to his sentiments, with complete technical and emotional control. A relief from the affectations of the likes of Lang Lang and other phoneys.

  • stupid people coughing, you couldn't keep it in for 30more seconds

  • 1:24 distracted by noise

  • There are few that truly comprehend the calibre of Horowitz's play. It is simply unparallel. To some it is God-like. This is entrancing! Bravissimo!!!!

  • To play like this your senses have to be intune. This kind of thing requires a great deal of control of the eye, ear and touch coordination.

  • Terrific!

  • Doing this for my entrance exam into uni... bit different.. wish i could play as effortlesslty as Horowitz instead of looking like I'm in pain trying to perfect it :P

  • @BuBbLexGuMxTrAsH visualize yourself playing smoothly and then go about actually doing what you're thinking! always practice with thought...as well as feeling! so many people just mindlessly practice, in very repetative ways. good luck with your entrance exam- hope you have a lot of good practice time... a great choice for entrance exam :)!

  • Check my page too

  • He was a true artist!

    Incredible !

  • He was a true artist!

  • He was a true artist!

  • I like the node he did in the end , he was like : that's how it supposed to be done

  • Harry Sukman did a fabulous arrangement of this for piano and orchestra. It almost beats the original. You just can't top that melody. It'd sound beautiful even being played on a kazoo. I was hoping I could find it here on YT---I thought you could find everything here, but I guess not. Wish I knew how to transfer it but it's on a LP vinyl and I don't have my old turntable anymore (sigh). I can only play it in my mind now, unless I spring for a used TT in some hockshop.

  • In love with it.

  • I've been turned off this piece ever since I saw a senior student play it earlier this year at a recital. To gain an emotional response from the audience he made unnecessary movements and facial expressions of pure agony (?) and milked it for all it was worth. While some parents were teary-eyed, i was quite disgusted and pleased to discover the markers thought the same way. Horowitz's genuine performance of this piece changed my opinion. Long live the memory of Vladimir Horowitz.

  • @stevef095

You gained a great perception. Greets

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • So unbelievably beautiful !!!!

  • Horowitz...very old here...nevertheless great..

  • @1Thompsonmusic Why are you spamming here! What's the point in anything you have to say except to prove you are a nutcase! Look at yourself in the mirror boy and you'll see a genuine idiot!

  • @JazzAce340 dont get your comment :(

  • @michelle17795 Hint: I think when he made that comment there were 56 dislikes.

  • OM scotch!

  • I could play better than him with so much more emotion and diversity in tone........ IF IT WAS OPPOSITE DAY!!!!!! Bless him for his beautiful soul.

  • By far the most beautiful interpretation of this piece.

  • FINALLY! Something that Chuck Norris would be proud of.

  • The only thing i disliked was the audience...

  • @cesardavidz what do u mean ???

  • @JazzAce340 A disgusting and un called for comment, and im sorry for the other people that like what you posted. you should be deeply ashamed.

  • I don't know how he could control the piano so well. His piano technician said that he loved his repetiion springs to be very, very tense. He said noone else could control his piano well.

    Anothe fun fact about Horowitz:

He was once payed 1,000,000 dollars to play at Carnegie hall, for just 1 performance. (He was a rich man)

  • @A8opi It's a hamster squeak at 1.24 , listen...

  • @A8opi hahahahaha youre right ! funny

  • this music is so easy to play for him...

  • 1:24 mouse heckling

  • lol i love how he plays the low d flat like he's burshing off the key

  • Magnifique ! Sublime !!! Il n'y a pas de mots trop forts !

  • RIP Liszt and Horowitz . See you in heaven hopefully

  • He seems to play so effortlessly

  • M,M,M...MMM

  • maybe in heaven, i might learn from this man or even see him play amongst the gods

  • Fantastico!!!!

  • So much passion!!!.

  • Love the way he nods his head after he finishes his playing. He probably tells himself " yeah man, that's what im talking about".

  • Long Live Horowitz!

  • It shouldn't take a disaster for one's thoughts and prayers to be with them.....Japan my thoughts and prayers are with you, and always have been....along with the rest of the world!

  • unbelieveable!!

  • @skipstah70

    unbelieveable touch!

  • True story: Horowitz once listened to his own recordings and was really impressed with his techniques.

  • The Master

How delicately Horowitz concealed his feeling and yet left it for all to see.

  • Love the way he lightly swipes those low D flats at the beginning

  • @Sissco Liszt is a human, not a song.

  • Amazing...

  • MY LOVELY HOROWITZ!!!

  • so beautiful

  • genius :))

  • Superb! Easily one of the twentieth century's greatest pianists.

  • 60 ppl are deaf!

  • epic !

  • Listz, just did a backflip he was so happy hearing this man do great justice to his music!!!

  • I love Horowitz but I don't think Liszt ever intended on it being played this fast...

  • what did djrobita say? His comment was removed and everybody is responding to him.

  • @Tengo148 He just said in the time of terrible tragedy his country was undergoing, this music gives some solace. He probably removed his comment because somebody said something stupid and hateful to him.

  • I'm surprised I can listen to this for free

  • BELLA

  • beautiful playing, crosshand flourishes and hand on waist ..........??!!

  • All 57 dislikes don't understand... Oh dear, what a pity, never mind.

  • !!!!!!!

  • i don't see how 56 people could dislike this.

  • @piano932 Have you never accidentally hit the dislike button? ;)

  • one word: amazing.

  • Wow...the way he plays this is so different from the way I do. It's interesting to see that two people can look at the same piece of music and make it sound like two completely different ones.

  • Equisite

  • What a badman. A such a lovely piece. Must try this one.

  • Yes, because it wouldn't be Horowitz without the Shizzle. lol

  • lol *nods* yeah i'm done.

  • This song is the type of song that you feel you could just sit and listen to forever... just absorbed in the music...

  • I love how he adds his own shizzle into the consolation he is the best.

  • And time stopped.

  • 3:44 His left arm!! :D Amazing Horowitz!!

  • I keep coming back to this video time and time again when I want to restore some peace and calm into my day :) thank you @Sissco

  • praying for you japan....i pray the Lord give you strength and mercy and restoration. GOD bless you all!

  • The romantic side of liszt.

  • when was this video made?

  • @FrostyChrome long time ago. lol!

  • @FrostyChrome 1987 (Vienna)

  • I adore his smile of satisfaction at the end of the piece!

  • Horowitz's resilience is phenomenal; he can go from mesmerizing us with robust, schizophrenic pieces like Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody no. 15 to soothing our souls with melodic nirvana as depicted in this beautiful piece. Not every pianist can be this versatile...and so damn good at it! And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what makes Horowitz one of the greatest Romantic era pianists of all time.

  • Don't know? should I laugh or cry! So so beautiful.

  • @wtfdywmtsn I do both when i watch this. :) love it.

  • it is soooooo wunderful =(<3

    r.i.p Hororwitz<3

  • Thank you god for sending Chopin, Liszt and Beethoven back to earth through this marvelous vessel!

  • @Sammyspudd11 And Rachmaninoff :-))

  • @Sammyspudd11

    And Jung Lin !!!

  • Oh, my Lord. What beauty you've entrusted to our hearts.

  • I want both to cry and to fly of this music

  • Our world is poorer with the absence of this virtuoso pianist, a phenomenon that will never be forgotten.

  • love the nonchalant left hand on the hip whilst the right hand does the work at the end and the final nod which says "hey how good was that then ? You know I'm good and I know I'm good" sheer brilliance

  • The hand on the hip makes me laugh every time! Also when he nods at the end I always thought it said "Done. What's next?"

  • @Udders666 Hahaha, hilarious indeed!

  • @timmer7000 hahaa brilliant. Another one snuffs it big time at 1:24

  • @timmer7000 LOL that totally cracked me up

  • So beautiful that I cried...

  • @JazzAce340 That's so true. I hope they read this comment :-)

  • haha love the casual arm on hip just before the end!

  • @djrobita Our thoughts and prayers are with those who are suffering from this terrible event, to those who have lost family and friends, we feel your pain and our hearts go out to the people of Japan.

  • @Bret6464 Thanks for your replying for comment so much. We do what we believe just like our fathers and grand fathers did after War.

  • @Bret6464 What does that have anything to do with this?

  • @Montyleeny14 :-)) I was responding to a comment by djrobita, who is Japanese. He said that this music helps him and those affected by the earthquake and tsunami, and he also thanked everyone. The least anyone could do is to give moral support.

Sorry I don't know much Japanese. But I am praying for you and all of Japan. Unfortunately I can't afford to right now...otherwise I really would go! I want to actually HELP physically and morally! But I shall donate all I can. STAY STRONG. I'm forever with you...I promise! This music is lovely isn't it?
  • @shadowpal2

what does Japan got to do with this Horowitz video?

  • @beeteep60

there was a Japanese commenter on here, who was saying how listening to this eases his mind off the whole situation currently. So...I just wanted to encourage him a little.

  • @djrobita I am from Serbia, and I wish you all the best in the future!

  • @JazzAce340 I couldn't agree more. For the likes of Simon & Kylie et al, its not really about the music anyway. Its about being trendy & edgy. They're actually several worlds away from real music.

  • so sublime.

  • it was a pleasure lisztening to this :)

  • Horowitz was a King and will be forever !!!

I love this old King so much !

His fingers got old on piano notes...like devoted friend/belover ...

  • Horowitz enters and sits down at the piano like a sweet grandfather just playing for the enjoyment of the lucky family members who happen to be in the room with him. Makes it look so easy...the way he swats those low notes is just terrific! 3.45! Classic! I am sure he is reaching for a cup of tea at the end there...Thanks H!

  • @JazzAce340 Aren't you just so terribly melodramatic?

  • this is the song ronnie played in the last song. it says 7 yr old veronica miller plays liszt on the photo at the beginnining
