If he had hit the door, his head would've been partially covered by the bit of wall covering the door from the angle we see the scene at. Though I must admit, when I read your comment it did look like the guard did it before the hick.

I love 'Casino' but I think it might be better with a few cuts. For example, the sequences related to Ace's TV show, IMO, slow down the story. I realize it's based on Lefty Rosenthals' own TV program but I don't think these scenes are necessary. They could have cut from the license hearing scenes directly to Stone's conversation with Gaggi about Ace quitting and made the same point.

Anybody noticed that in this video, 'best scenes of Casino', Sharon Stone doesn't appear one single second? And that while she does play a big role in the movie. That's why this movie AINT a classic like Goodfellas. That wife screwed the whole movie up. I find it hard to believe that a man who can walk away from anything in 30 seconds (HEAT), can get so distracted from one random blonde woman... IMO, this movie is good since there are so many funny scenes in it, not because of a great story...
