Give me old time hockey. No advertisements on the boards, dimmer lights in the building, Lower glass in the middle. Optional helmets, no suspensions for clearing the benches or extra penaties for starting a fight at the end of the game. No freakin shootouts. Fewer teams so there are more intense rivalries because the teams play each other more often.
@dstar1958 Yup. And go back to the old divisions with the divisional playoff formats aswell. That way you get the rivalries going. North Stars vs Blackhawks or Blues, Leafs vs Blackhawks or Wings, Canucks vs Flames,Oilers,Kings, or Caps vs Devils, Rangers, Flyers, etc etc etc. Those were rivalries. The clowns running the show have robbed us real fans of real hockey the last 15 years or so. I pray good ol hockey returns soom though Im not holding my breath. Who keeps that idiot is in charge ?
It's funny how while the most of the fans were cheering, the people on the front seats seemed just jaded. How can you not be excited after seeing a genuine fight like this one? This is what the current nhl needs; "real" fights
Yep,that's the idea-turn a skill game into a boxing match. Wait, no, these fights are far less entertaining since it's mostly hugging and pulling hair like little girls.
Those were the days...back then everybody was getting beat up by somebody wearing yellow! Neely was my favorite player when he got traded, I was pissed right off!
Coxe is one of the best fighters in Canucks history. and when you look at the team now only Bieksa has the eagerness and the toughness like Coxe had.(no disrespect to Mitchell , Cowan or Burrows)
hell yeah now thats some good old school hockey fights. i really wish they would fight more now a days. back then they pretty much didn't have one game without the players droping their gloves.

Was that Coxe vs. Rouse for Minnesota? Rouse looked like he got in the stronger punches for most of it.

Could not agree more. Sounds like some of my comments on YT. We now have Disney On Ice for what used to be the Sacred NHL.

I love the lack of announcers--just stadium noises and fans. Great posting here.

That Rouse - Coxe fight was an absolute beauty. Man, they both ate some good belts.

Cam Neely: most complete hockey player ever, anybody who says he doesnt belong in the Hockey Hall of Fame knows nothing about the game.
PaulCoffey7 4 years ago
He may belong in the 'Hall' but to say he's the "most complete" player in history is pushing it.

I love the organ music at the end. You got to love it. Norm Green still sucks. Go Wild. Thanks for the video.

Coxe scored a goal in that game too . . . a rare enough occurrance. Canucks won 10-5.
djob2676 4 years ago
In the first fight, #29 for Minnesota is Tim Coulis, a bust of a former First-round pick. Only had 4 career goals.

Craig Coxe was awesome!! looked pretty tired at the end.... GrantFuhr check out my hockey videos too!

I just like the fact that the uniforms used to be so colourful back in the day. Not like now.
microry1960 4 years ago
@microry1960
Nowadays the uniforms are bland and have too many colors and too many road jerseys are black.

i think #3 is really
Bob Rouse
dpnumero12 5 years ago
i think the Star's # 3 is
actually Bob Rouse ,
who later played for the Leafs
note the " Expo 86 " patch on the bottom left hem of the Canucks jersey
dpnumero12 5 years ago
#3 was a player they called up from the minors he only played for the north stars for about 23 games. Vanasco was his name
goalscr12 5 years ago
That was Bob Rouse in the last fight for Minnesota. Cam Neely: Most undeserving and overrated player in Hall of Fame.
priggeauc 5 years ago
I believe involved in one of the fights for Vancouver is Cam Neely (on the bottom of the screen at the 8 second mark of the clip).
