@MrMaxPounder Yes because I prefer the sound of 80s scratching it has more rhythm and smoothness. Take another listen to Howie Tee his cuts were some of the cleanest I've heard. Checkout Roxannes backside for a taster, some nice scratches as well as the end of Bang Zoom which is on the same level as Jazzy Jeff and Cash for the mid 80s.
Here we go again, the exact same style of scratching that every single DJ is using even today, as much as I love the whole scene of oldskool hiphop, this is becoming incredibly tiring to the ear. I cannot tell one DJ from another today whereas 20 odd yrs ago Cash money, Jazzy Jeff, Howie Tee, Mixmaster Ice or Tat money all had an individual sound that I still find much more pleasing to the ear than today.
yo i was always curious...did everyone know who they would battle? cause from what i understand they just match u up to whoever u got placed with..most of these old battles dudes would shit on the dude they were up against..or did they just get lucky to use those disses?

I know what Dj TyHAndswell is talking about. You can see Impereal and Remedy in the background showing support for DJ Fresh.
Fresh and Remedy are both from San Jose...it must be the water over there that year
