Bad argument. The NIV has less than 666 verses in Mark.. It leaves out Mark 15:28, Mark 9:44, Mark 9:46, Mark 7:16, Mark 11:26, and Mark 16:9-20. That is 17 verses for a total of 661. He was referring to the fact that those notes are at the foot, and this note is in the text. So if you subtract just the ones that are in the text, then the standard 678 contained in the king james is reduced to 666.

I took the liberty and counted the number of verses in mark. Guess what...It came to 678. The fact is that they did not take out those verses. I believe it is a matter of full disclosure. I am sure the translators that translated the King James knew this fact.

Don't get me wrong because it is definitely a valid translation, however it is not the only valid translation. If anyone can give me a decent answer to this question I will burn my copy of the NIV right now, If the KJV was translated to be the only version for english which god himself headed then why did they translate the Apocrypha and keep it in the Bible as scripture? Sir, I do hope you realize that the verse numbers are not inspired, but were added hundreds of years after God inspired THE ORIGINAL manuscripts. Nothing can be proved from verse numbers. Also, I hope you realize that THE ORIGINAL KJV 1611 had footnotes. And, Erasmus, the man who compiled the TR, wanted access to the other manuscripts, because he trusted them more.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. The only way to evaluate "new" bibles is to read side by side with KJV. Look very carefully at what was changed, added, omitted. Bad argument. The NIV has less than 666 verses in Mark.. It leaves out Mark 15:28, Mark 9:44, Mark 9:46, Mark 7:16, Mark 11:26, and Mark 16:9-20. That is 17 verses for a total of 661. If you are going to make a less than sound argument, at least check the validity of what you are saying to begin with.

In this process they have concluded that the older manuscripts (being closer to the original with less time for scribal variants to creep in) are probably better. Some have developed a "conspiracy theory" saying that Origen corrupted certain of these old manuscripts.

I think you will find that the NIV Bible has 678 verses in it but the NIV it is clearly identified that the earliest manuscripts do not include the last twelve. This makes them unreliable and the KJV was not as well researched as the NIV. The NIV researchers had access to many more ancient documents . The KJV is not the right version, it's not even called the King James version. It's the Authorised Version

I took the liberty and counted the number of verses in mark. Guess what...It came to 678. The fact is that they did not take out those verses. I believe it is a matter of full disclosure. I am sure the translators that translated the King James knew this fact.
The funny thing is that the bible calls the devil the accuser of the brethren. This preacher sounds as if he is accusing some Christians of being satanists because they read a different TRANSLATION. That is all it is, a translation.

The point here is that if the KJV is truly the only Bible there is, then people reading anything else are all lost. That includes all other English translations and all other languages. BelieveandtrustJesus. Nope, wrong again. I do believe in faith alone, but the verses we both provided are about Christians wanting to do good works because the Holy Spirt is within us. We want to obey Christ (not that we always succeed).
The point is, I can find as many verses in the KJV that points to a works doctrine as you can find in a Modern version. You have to apply the same test to Modern versions that you do to the KJV. Stay in the context and you'll never go wrong.

These Bibles say the SAME thing. The NIV is just a Thought for Thought Translation, while the KJV, NLT, NKJV, NASB, and others are word for word. The NIV was made for study! No where in it does it ay you have to do works to be saved!

Sir, I do hope you realize that the verse numbers are not inspired, but were added hundreds of years after God inspired THE ORIGINAL manuscripts. Nothing can be proved from verse numbers. Also, I hope you realize that THE ORIGINAL KJV 1611 had footnotes. And, Erasmus, the man who compiled the TR, wanted access to the other manuscripts, because he trusted them more.

It doesnt matter what version of the Bible that you read as long as it is not paraphrased. If it is paraphrased such as the message, the living, ect.., then it is not the Bible. It just depends on what kind of English you were taught to read. The NIV is different in the sense that it is a "Thought for Thought" translation instead of a "word for Word". Even a broken clock is right twice a day. The only way to evaluate "new" bibles is to read side by side with KJV. Look very carefully at what was changed, added, omitted. Then ask yourself what was the REAL purpose of the change. Seeing it with your own eyeballs will have a sobering effect. The Holy Spirit will reveal satan's careful strategies to you.

If the NIV cannot, neither can the KJV. The KJV was authorized by the government for both Catholics and Protestants. King James was an Anglican (English Catholic) and bisexual in his early days! The Geneva Bible was the first one in English and was outlawed by the government because they did not like the rise in reformed theology (Truth). This is also the same government that had Bibles not authorized burned!! Do not fall into King James Only-ism! Nowhere in the Bible does it say KJV only!

Jesus did not consider Himself equal to God, nor could He grasp it????

No, the verse is saying the same thing that the KJV does. It is saying that Jesus was not focused on who he was, he was focused on the Will of the Father, and to save the World and provided redemption! The verse says that God put Jesus here to be like us, have our temptations, and be like a human, except without sin, and to save the world through the cross!

It LITERALLY says that Christ ("being in very nature") the form of God did not consider Himself equal to God("did not consider equality with God") something attainable("to be grasped").

And if you want one of the first real English translations, then you need a Geneva Bible, used By Calvin, Knox, and other reformers spreading the word of God, this Bible was in 1599!

That tells us that they were hiding something! And you want to talk about different dictionary definitions? Well for your information, words in 1611 may not mean the same thing in 2010, because that type of English is no longer spoken! God is not going to send somebody to Hell, just because they read the NIV.
