Machine Messiah is one of my all time favorite YES tunes! What a crime that Anderson would never do it! Well, how times have changed! Rejoice! Benoit is Fabulous!
Too cute hearing your son tell you this is the 'GREATEST DAY OF HIS LIFE." I was there, I understand how he felt. I can only imagine what was going through Benoit and Oliver's mind playing in front of a large audience (this being the fourth show of part 1 of the tour). I can't wait to see more on the West Coast.
It was a real thrill for him. Thanks to whomever the guy was that we met and let us sit in his empty/extra 4th row seats with them. Absolutely wonderful experience for both of us - and loved sharing live Yes music w/ my son!
This new guy was not bad, singing a bit unclearly, but, to be frank, I missed Jon. Fortunately, I got 'Namah' last week, the new album on which Jon sings 'Sadness of Flowing'. Jon is the number one !!!
Great Tune! Wish someone would put the entire song on here! Going to see them in Biloxi, which WILL Only Be a 90 Minute Show. Please Play the Drama Tunes Dammit!! I have waited 28 Years for this! Lets have it!!!!
I saw them in Asbury Park, NJ at Paramount Theater last weekend and they did NOT play this!!! I was furious. They also did not play Heart of the Sunrise OR Owner of a Lonely Heart, which they have played at every other show. After the show, I saw the set list, and all of those songs WERE on the setlist! I have no idea why they didn't play them. Machine Messiah was the main reason I went to go see them and they didn't play it. Other than that, great show, Benoit's singing was superb.
That's why I was pissed. They DIDN'T replace any of those songs! They just cut them out of the show! The show couldn't have been any longer than 2 hours, which is ridiculously short for Yes. I know, because I've seen Yes twice before (I'm only 19, so I never got to see these guys back in the day, but I saw them in 2002 and 2004 other than this tour). The setlist was taped to Chris Squire's mic stand, and some woman asked to see it after the show, and I looked on with her and saw those 3 songs.
That's very strange. Wonder if someone wasn't feeling well or something and needed to cut the show a little short. They appear to have done these songs in every other show. At least you can see some of the clips on youtube! :-)
Yes, and thank you for posting this clip. I also downloaded a bootleg recording of this show and it sounds great! Now at least I know what Machine Messiah would have sounded like if they had played it at Paramount. Thanks again, man!
I saw them in New York last week. It was amazing to see them at last playing this and tempus fugit. That singer was up there with all those high notes. Great show!
Hearing your son say "this is the greatest day of my life" with so much enthusiasm was unbelievable.....So cute...how old is he 5?

That is a plus about getting Benoit, they can do the Drama material live and not get any lip from Jon Anderson..

I'm still pissed at myself for missing this show- I just hope there will be a DVD or at least a live album from this tour.
