  • is this legal

  • @chase6770 depends on what you're doing.... I use this a lot to administer WordPress sites that are hosted on local servers due to how WordPress resolves page names...

  • hi your avery good explannnnnnerrrrr.............. i have aproblem i can't find (host) even after igo with All Files there is only iam host and some other file even there is no host.txt file ...... ......

  • wow

  • @dksmokestacks Question 1... should be fine. I actually hadn't heard of that tool, and looked it up. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like it works on sound principles... Question 2... Yes IPv6 uses the Hosts file, but it's more complicated to do then in IPv4... At this point in the game I'd stay away from IPv6 unless you really have a reason to mess with it. They have literally been talking about IPv6 since I got my MCSE in 1999 and it still isn't here yet..

  • @elithecomputerguy , Thankyou for reply. ive heard bad things about TEREDO and figure i should stay away.

  • man i like your videos ab0ut hacking w0w you are awesome man :D

  • DNS is like fingerprint

  • @cazyblood3 no... the MAC address would be like the fingerprint... MAC addresses are unique for EVERY network interface in the world (supposedly)

  • @elithecomputerguy MAC addresses can be easily spoofed.

  • @megaton12 true, but that will be another class....

  • @cazyblood3 I do believe you mean DNA. Domain Name Service does not equal finger print.

  • why would u teach people this D:

  • @lemler33 Why not?

  • @ahhhhjjjj because my dns was hacked :(

  • I'm so gonna go to programming school, this stuff is soo interesting!

  • I wish I came along your channel ages ago.. I want you to be my teacher :( your teaching is amazing. If you were my teacher at my high school I wouldn't ditch any of your classes :p

  • no audio bro

  • ..then we delete system 32...Waaahlaa! google is hacked

  • If only I'd known what to look for.

I stopped using Windows operating systems after a DNS hijack about 6 years ago. I had anti virus and a firewall running, but when my IP had a serious outage (2 days) I could not get online afterwards. Tech guy on the phone said he could see my comp connectng, and getting redirected to, what he found out and phoned back to me was a sort of dead end. They couldn't help me after that, so I got an Ubuntu CD from a local guy and have never looked back.

  • So why the fuck do I need to know TCP to edit hosts file? You're fooling nobody, those 137 likes are just people thinking you're a comedian.

  • Hacking DNS = editing /etc/hosts? You're a fraud, man.

  • This is so stupid.....

  • bored watching the entire video?

    Fast results: click to 21:20

  • im a 20 yr old graduate from wilmington NC

    i work for PCEMS,inc

my uncle showed me this a while back its a pretty cool trick, wish i new it when i was still in highschool

you seem like a man who understands computers, nothing is good or bad. change is inevitable.

  • You have a funny way of saying the word "Change". Are you canadian ?

  • Ok you say it is possible to block spyware connect to internet services somewhere else, so now most spyware/viruses/trojans, how u want to call them, start a direct connection to a certian webserver over ipv4 or use a tunnel to do that it is realy easy to get it work, but editing the Host files of windows makes u just redirect you can connect simply to google with hxxp://209.85.229.103/ that will be no problem, you can call the ip of every domain. Hacking a DNS server is something realy else.

  • anyway i liked your videos about PSTN, PBXs and VoIP, so keep up the good job :)

  • this was kind of very basic, and the DNS explanation was also very superficial. The DNS system is actually kind of complex, i was at least expecting an explanation about zones hierarchy.

  • The ol' pulling out the headphones plug halfway trick eh?

  • 2:38

  • 2:39

  • 45 minutes to explain the hosts file?

  • 2:37

  • speak up plz my speakers wer on the highest and i cud not here u

  • Let me tell you that I absolutely love your videos, I found them ever so interesting and you taught the material in a perfectly understandable way, please keep up the good work, the only thing that i would suggest, and this is just in my opinion of what i like to do, is for you to teach us more on how you actually would go about hacking the local DNS and show us on a computer. This advancement would make your videos spectacular.

    subscribed!

P.S. great hand gestures and enthusiasm!

  • my right hear so sad!

  • Eli, I re-directed Google to my IP, felt cool, then erased the text from my hosts file and saved, but I can't seem to go to Google again. Any way to reverse the process!?

  • @shussain193 It must be the local DNS cache of your OS. Usually it expires after a while. There are ways to clean it depending on the OS.

  • @vaijab Thanks! It fixed itself, you were right about it expiring.

  • @shussain193 Try going to a command prompt and typing in ipconfig /flushdns

  • @shussain193 Thanks.

  • thank you so much, this video is so good that i was able to put this in practice in a matter of minutes.

  • You should show DNS poisoning at more advance level.

Your videos are a GREAT refresher.....and I am sure many of rookies are appreciating it very much. I have camera phobia, other wise i would do these videos too :) keep up the good work

  • My right ear doesn't work -

  • Your videos are the best! Thanks for taking the time to make them.

  • OK so what if i search for google in google.com and then i click the first result of the search .Will it work the same way as entering google.com in the address bar does?

  • @F145H220 yes because the search result is still pointing to the domain name, and the domain name resolution has been redirected by you.

  • @elithecomputerguy and what if the site which i redirect to has dynamic IP,How will the DNS knows if that the older IP has been expired or something like that and needs to be updated,

and does DHCP server comes handy in situations like these.

  • @elithecomputerguy that's badass.

  • @elithecomputerguy does the host file cache the naming resolutions according to what domain name one keeps searching for? like the tlb for page tables?

  • My left ear found this fun

  • Left Ear...

  • thanks a lot

  • Great info,

    thanks

  • thanks a lot

  • You are so awesome dude!

  • First Class........Straight up no bull Knowledge...PRICELESS....Keep it coming...PEACE.....DOh SOS spellin

  • First Class........Striaght up no bull Knowledge...PRICELESS....Keep it coming...PEACE

  • awesome videos..........

  • thank you eli! very informative.. make more videos to educate and help more on technicalities =)

  • Could you explain how a public DNS server ended up being compromised by Turk Guvenligi? They redirected users to a number of large sites like the Telegraph, UPS, Betfair, Vodafone, National Geographic to resolve to their own hacked page. Is this what is known as DNS poisoning?

  • Hey how would i edit the private dns stuff?

  • @DarkGhoul45 See his next video, 'mailing fake porn pics'. A true master of his art, he is!

  • @noobyfromhell Thankyou lol, will check it out.

  • like ur video's,nice job,keep teaching,I

  • thanks Eli, i like ur teaching

  • my virus Gard figure out, when i just edit local host file and it undo changes that i made to my host file(Microsoft essential).

  • ok. the basic.

  • "If you don't know anything how DNS works, please go to different video."

    *next slide*

    "This is how DNS works"

  • @com322931 yes you can

  • good job bro keep it up i am watching you now:)

  • Very informative...thanks so much. Great work my friend.

  • when i dont have a IP address can i dont hack it ?

the whois of .ir dont give a IP address .

i want hack .ir domain names how it work ?

    thanks.

  • opendns.org is like a very big firewall. btw nice video

  • @ahkralj No, it's more like remote net nanny. It's not a bad idea in itself, but it's definitely not as good as true firewall.

  • can you please name the attacks thanks

  • People would understand better if you used live demonstration on DNS hacking, e.g. ettercap ARP poisoning.

  • @pritheangel At some point... I've gotten busy with clients and haven't been able to do a class in a while. The next one will probably be on phishing attacks...
