@MegaGiovanna1991 hmm, I don't think I said anything offensive. Just pointing out that there is no way this could have been stolen from twilight. Since when is it offensive to criticize literature? I am entitled to an opinion.
@dqk420 i kinda know this wasnt stolen from twilight and the offensive part was and i quote "4)twilight sucks balls" so yeah its kinda offensive since the twilight saga is one great work of young modern literature but the count of monte cristo is a classic masterpiece, and as you say im entitled to interpret your comment as i wish since i too have an opinion

this is nothing like Twilight, seriously. that isn't even funny. Twilight is a stupid teen romance, and this is a real story about revenge and actual issues. there isn't anything even close except a name.
The Count of Monte Cristo was written 167 years ago, so Edmund is clearly not an immitation of Edward from Twilight. And even then Edmund Dantes's was inspired by another story written by Jacques Peuchet some years before Monte Cristo was finished;
@NephiliAverns JP was a Police archivist. Pierre Picaud (Edmond Dantes), lived in Nîmes in 1807. Picaud had been engaged to marry a rich woman, but three jealous friends falsely accused him of being a spy for England. Picaud was moved to the castle Fenestrelle where he served as a servant. When the man died Picaud inherited the fortune. He then plotted his revenge. He stabbed the first with a dagger and poisoned the second. The third man he killed as well by stabbing him after using his family.
Just started reading the book and holy hell is it different. To be honest though, I prefer the movie XD, at least to where I am (chapter 5). The characters are more interesting in this version, not to mention Mercedes is so beautiful.

@AllSongsAndLyrics Have we succeeded? We think so. Before long we shall have covered with our narratives an enormous period of time; between the "Comtesse de Salisbury' and the "Comte de Monte Christo" five centuries and a half are compresed. Well, we assert that we have taught France as much history about those five centuries and a half as any historian. This passage is from The Companions of Jehu which was written by Alexandre Dumas pere.
@AllSongsAndLyrics This passage is from The incredible marquis by Herbert Gorman entitled the soldier of fortune(chapter six) It was natural that Dumas believed implicitly in the magic of somnambulism, in animal magnetism and in chiromancy. No Haitian negro dancing before his Voodoo altar was more superstitious than Dumas. Home, to Dumas, therefore, was an authentically inspired adept in communicating with unseen world.
What We Need Is A Movie Based On Real Life Stories That Are Intriguing. That Is Why This Movie Is So Good. Besides For Every Great Man There Will Be A Hitler. I Would Rather Avoid Great Men.
We need a Count of Montecristo in USA to liberate us from the zionist capitalist ruling class that has been destroying the USA and the world for too many years. Where are the Alexander the Great, Hugo Chavez, Robin Hoods, Vladimir Lenin, Che Guevara, Bravehart William Wallace, King Arthur and Count of Montecristo of USA?
@maxistsocialist Google and read Wall Street and the Bolshevik Revolution.Marx,Lenin and the entire Communist movement was created and financed by Zionist capitalists.Marx was a salesman hired by Banksters to sell their scientific dictatorship dressed up as "social justice" to unwitting dupes.Lenin and his New York Jews were thugs hired to kill the Tzar and tens of millions of Russian Christians and act as an anvil to the Wall Street-Nazi hammer in between which Christan Europe was smashed.
@maxistsocialist The Soviets then played the bad guys in the WWF style political theater called the Cold War to scare American rubes into giving up their money and freedoms to the National Security State and send their sons to fight wars around the world to "stop Communism" when the real purpose was to militarily control local populations and natural resources for the Globalist Banksters. When the Soviets served their purpose the Berlin Wall came down and Al-CIA-duh took their place as boogieman.
is Monte Cristo an English or French territory in this film? "Count" in French system is "Comte". 'Comte et Comtesse au Mont-Crist'... in Spanish it is Conde y Condessa de Monte Cristo'
"Count" does not exist in the English system. In the English system, "count" is called "Earl" originated from the Anglo-Saxon system... 'Earl and Countess of Mt. Christ'
question does the movie stick to the book because i need to read it but i have not even started on this xDD somebody anybody please i moved and my school didnt know til now so i just now know i had to read the book
@FearMeForIAmDeath666 It's pretty close to the book, but if you're doing a book report from watching the movie, which I always did in school 30 years ago, you will probably get caught. Good luck.
Could someone please give me a summary of the book. I don't care how long it is as long as all the main and vital information is there. PLEASE! it would help soooo much! PLEASEEEEEEE!
@crazykokorox The movie is very close to the book. Instead of me writing a summary, just go to Wikapedia and read it. I did the same thing in school that you're doing and I usually got caught. The teacher knows the difference between the movie and book.
Gotta say, both the book and the movie paint two different stories... it's hard to say which one is better, there are elements of each that i like. Mainly I enjoy seeing a different interpretation between the book and movie, it kind of opens the story up a little more, which is fun.
@FearMeForIAmDeath666 Yeah, they really are. Without spoiling too much, I can say that the book really gets more into the effects that Edmond's revenge has on the innocent, while in the movie, it kinda just happens. Additionally, a VERY different story plays out between him and Mercedes. Plus, the background of many of the characters are different, especially Fernand and Abbe Faria. But more than anything, the plot and the message take some differing turns. All in all, they're just different.
Read it in a week, without even its not being my assignment. I have to say the movie is crap though, because they had to leave so much stuff out because it was made from a long book.
@9:02 the part where is tagged as Marseilles, that's all shot in Malta!!! soo proud that beautiful shots like that of my country are included in such great films :')
I believe that someone has issues with vulgarity. They are a disgusting example of a man who has never matured.
And for the people who claim to be athiests: There aren't any true athiests alive. When you have nothing, and have come reached the end of your rope, you either do one of two objectives- do away with yourself or ask God for help.
Besides, in your heart of hearts, you know God is real.
@jbaguirre007 The whole thing about "believeing" is that ITS NOT CERTAIN. thats the first thing we learned in school about religion. its the definiton of " believeing". So 'one' can't say "god exists" or "god doesnt exist" cause that would mean it was certain, which contradicts religion itself. And yes, this isn't the place to discuss religious perspectives. Also, im agnost.
I remember seeing the trailer for this movie in theaters and really liking what i saw even though these type of films don't really get my attention. Now, i get to see it! :)
I've been reading this book for a year. I'm on chapter 96, and I've never felt more accomplished. I can't wait to finish it so I can watch this movie. =D
@AuxaneD i didnt mean any offence to your country obviously they showed their true potential in countless wars-i meant that its unlikely for two sailors to beat off half a dozen soldiers-could have been vice versia of course
I have read the book several times. I have seen a few of the movies. And I have never seen any movie that I really liked. The one in french was fair. But no movie I have seen so far is true to the book.
This book takes third place behind the Bible and Gone with the wind for me. And Alexandre Dumas is the best writer ever.
This book can also be found as a pod cast and is a great way to know the book.
If anyone wants I will try to up load it as a pod cast. let me know.
TCOMC is my favorite book and this has absolutely nothing at all to do with the book. The only way to make a decent representation of the book would be a LONG miniseries on HBO. That this film was made is an affront to the book and those of us who love it.
@Dialahh I'm watching it again today, after i watched it yesterday :3 im starting that over and over cycle^^. I'm so proud i can fence and horsebackride and have an official letter seal and my handwriting looks like it was from 1720 and so forth :3
@AngelBiLove hahahaha i think the second time around i would be so into it that i'd forget i know whats gonna happen. Mind u we watched this movie in class when we were supposed to be doing "work"
@Dialahh Lol i didn't get to finish it yesterday cuz i skipped the last 3 videos. I already knew what was going to happen pretty much every line so. >< this movie is practically boring now to me.
@AngelBiLove really? its still a good movie though aye ;) & how does it feel to watch a movie in 10 minute intervals, never tried it but it must surely be annoyingggggggggg
can somebody give me the site where i can view the full movie?

Anyone interested in the story should read the unabridged Robin Buss translation. Although the movie captures certain key areas reasonably well (Chateau d'if and Abbé Faria's character), the book is FAR more rich and descriptive. So many characters and plot points were strangely altered or left out entirely. The ending in particular is completely different in the book and is more satisfying.

FearMeForIAmDeath666 5 months ago
@FearMeForIAmDeath666 It's pretty close to the book, but if you're doing a book report from watching the movie, which I always did in school 30 years ago, you will probably get caught. Good luck.

Could someone please give me a summary of the book. I don't care how long it is as long as all the main and vital information is there. PLEASE! it would help soooo much! PLEASEEEEEEE!
crazykokorox 5 months ago
@crazykokorox The movie is very close to the book. Instead of me writing a summary, just go to Wikapedia and read it. I did the same thing in school that you're doing and I usually got caught. The teacher knows the difference between the movie and book.

Gotta say, both the book and the movie paint two different stories... it's hard to say which one is better, there are elements of each that i like. Mainly I enjoy seeing a different interpretation between the book and movie, it kind of opens the story up a little more, which is fun.
UnusualNova 5 months ago
@UnusualNova are they like really really different?
FearMeForIAmDeath666 5 months ago
@FearMeForIAmDeath666 Yeah, they really are. Without spoiling too much, I can say that the book really gets more into the effects that Edmond's revenge has on the innocent, while in the movie, it kinda just happens. Additionally, a VERY different story plays out between him and Mercedes. Plus, the background of many of the characters are different, especially Fernand and Abbe Faria. But more than anything, the plot and the message take some differing turns. All in all, they're just different.

I don't think most British soldiers would just attack like that. They would first try to talk with them.

i love the book very much but i think there is things missed in the movie
AweenRocks 5 months ago 2
Read it in a week, without even its not being my assignment. I have to say the movie is crap though, because they had to leave so much stuff out because it was made from a long book.

Besides, in your heart of hearts, you know God is real.
wowvideoshey 5 months ago
@wowvideoshey
Sorry but i dont think God is real, there is too much inequality in the world to have a God that is "All loving".
Besides this isnt the right place to discuss religious perspectives, instead enjoy the movie.
jbaguirre007 5 months ago
@jbaguirre007 The whole thing about "believeing" is that ITS NOT CERTAIN. thats the first thing we learned in school about religion. its the definiton of " believeing". So 'one' can't say "god exists" or "god doesnt exist" cause that would mean it was certain, which contradicts religion itself. And yes, this isn't the place to discuss religious perspectives. Also, im agnost.

This is the best book ever, and it drives me crazy when they change a lot (like why is Fernand a sailor?!) but this is still a good movie :)

The part in the beginning happened in the book? As in all the battle and shit?

British dragoons gt beaten by a couple of French sailors from a cargo ship...yeah right. Still, one of the best movies I ever saw, simply AWESOME!!
mintoffjan 7 months ago
@mintoffjan You'd be surprised...
AuxaneD 7 months ago
@AuxaneD i didnt mean any offence to your country obviously they showed their true potential in countless wars-i meant that its unlikely for two sailors to beat off half a dozen soldiers-could have been vice versia of course
mintoffjan 7 months ago
