I was in the Kentucky Air National Guard and this Vid brings back good memories. Our planes had the two wing tanks as opposed to the "High Speed Centerline Fuel Tank".
The RF-4C is a USAF version with the GE J79-15 engine. The RF-4E had different engines and were based on the F-4E airframe. The USAF did not use this version, But countries such as Germany, Greece, Iran, Japan, Turkey and others used it. I miss the F-4. I worked on them, Loved them.
What is the RF-4 for a type of phantom ? This phantom look different as the german F-4F pahntom. Different engine nozzle, different nose, different cockpit, no smoky engine....
@ugott1 RF-4 Series is the Photo Recon variant. These aircraft are USAF (ANG I think) RF-4Cs. The German Air Force used the RF-4E (until sold to Turkey and Greece) as with all the foreign operators. The USMC used the RF-4B, which was almost the same as the RF-4C, but for carrier operations.
@ugott1 Google Luftwaffe "F-4 Phantom ICE" to get more details on all the German updates.
There was a time when Deutschland was on the verge of pulling out of the Eurofighter program and they more a less gave the F-4 a new bag of tricks to buy time.
If I recall, the radar system was the latest technology, there was significant weight reduction and I think a little more thrust from the engines.
