@MrMartyn24 No, it's a custom remap of the ECU I made :) If you need some information and your's remapped, too, just let me know ;) Btw: great choice! You'll have a lot of fun with it, but be aware if the street is wet!
i dont know , my car is too slow or yours is too fast ????
until 3rd gear i accelerate like this but from 4th gear and then you go too fast , i also have ecu remap(digatek 117ps) and air filtre , i only dont have tik pipe but until 160 we have more than 4 seconds difference !!! maybe you going in a downhill !!! or tik pipe give you 10hp !!!
@1990leftis the video is absolutely *not* downhill. has been recorded at 48.868187,8.251891 (type in google maps), heading north. Its a very important difference, how cold or warm the air is. This really can make a difference of 10 or even more PS. the TIK does not give more power, since the turbocharger is the limiting factor. but the TIK reduces the turbo lag time. futhermore there might be slight production differences and I don't know, how your remap looks like
@vortex3k in the corners is where a neon will surprise you. There was a Neon acr racing series back in the 90's. It only weighs 2300 lbs and corners great. It's one of the best autocross cars out there.
@crusaderpat Ok, there'll be a racing model of every car, which corners great ;) The smart is still >440 pounds lighter than that racing neon. Additionally the smart has a very low center of gravity and a DeDion rear axle construction which combines the advantages of an independent wheel suspension and the stiffness of a rigid axle. A "normal" Neo (inclduing improved chassis, lower etc) won't get a smart roadster in the corners, I'm pretty sure about that.
@vortex3k The Smart is a great car no doubt, however if seeing is believing. So search "neon autocross", there are vids of stock neons chewing through competition. However i fear in the states there will never be a face-off of a Smart roadster vs Neon as we are deprived of euro-spec cars :'(
@Mikebandit96 Top speed has been about 180 before. Ncie :) But, PLEASE: Don't do the 57i!! Open Air intake does not increase power on a turbo charged engine! Furthermore, the K&N 57i only sucks in warm air from the engine bay and therefore even decreases your power! Don't do it!
@Psychopathe24 Driving a lightweight car at those speeds when having storm is insane in any case... However the car still feels safe (depending on the chassis supension for sure^^)
More like 10 really (sec 6-16), mainly because it has to shift into 4th at 90-95. :/ Doesn't seem like it pulls a lot better below 100 than 82HP stock, but above that is far better.
Yes, a test-drive is, definitively a nice idea, even if it has to be done in someone else's car ;) I had also considered a hard top version, I have a nice speedsilver with it under eye, but trouble is, I still didn't find any review about a car with that, nor any comparison. Reliability is not a strong point either, but problems seem random. What a tough decision!!!
It looks reasonably fast, but it seems it's chipped... I'm currently thinking about buying one, but noise insulation seems very poor at highway speeds. As I have to do loooong journeys (1000km), I'm still not sure about that decision. But the car is soooo nice...
Yepp, the car is chipped by fismaTec at about 78kW.
In any case, the car is a *lot* of fun. But if you often drive such long distances on highways it's really not the best you can get as it is (obviously) not that comfortable.
Thanks for your advice. So, it is, probably, out of question. Perhaps I should get back to the R170 SLK plans. This has to be a second car... But I have to have one! :D
I would suggest that you test drive a roadster and see it for yourself if it's ok or not. It's really awesome to drive this car so consider a test drive :)
I also recommend to get one with a hard top since this is a lot more quiet but of course not that cool as the soft top ;)
THanks! Yes, that was one of the biggest differences of the tuning. The first 3 gears are just too short to really get everything out of the tuning, but beginning in fourth it goes straight forward. I also do accelerate from lower RPMs right now where I needed to change to a lower gear before. On the highway especially.
At 140km/h i often switched back to fifth for overtaking someone where i now easily can do this in sixth.

I hate to say this, but even my dodge neon is faster than that.

@crusaderpat So what? It's not hard to be faster than a smart car on the straight line. We'll meet again in the corners.

To expand on the cornering, a Smart Roadster will outrun a Skyline on a windy road. What it lacks in power it really makes up for in handling.

impressing, really! but i think this will wear out the clutch sooner or later... but on the other side... who cares, if you can afford it.
