James Williams is a fraud. He never trained under anyone. He was never in the military or Police. He attended a few seminars to take photos with famous teachers. He is a big pussy.
I have the hissatsu folder, the handle shape is admittedly odd and questionable at first but after testing this blade, I can assure you there will be no slippage unless you have an incorrect or weak grip. The blade shape provides such effortless penetration that anything short of mahogany or steel will not create enough resistance for your hand to slip.
I own all of the knifes made by James. They are great for what they are intended for. Now I have let some of my friends use the folder. The only thing they did not like was the size of the thumb screw. The suggestion was to make the thumb screw 5-10 mm bigger for those who have different size of hand. one of them did make some orders. He only uses knifes, period. Now if I ever saw him with a sidearm that would be a red flag for me.
Hissatsu was disappointing at best. Could not cut through jean material, doubtful if it would cut 1000 denier nylon. Tip bends easily, any impact on hard surface (mag carrier, heck even someone's watch) and the tip is gone, mine bent with a meager stab into a piece of pine. I gave it to my Marine buddy, he stopped carrying it quickly. The handle is terrible, he would have cut his hand during a stab where his hand slipped, thankfully the knife can't cut so it didn't make it through his glove.
@kephrarubin I almost forgot, when I emailed CRKT about it, they told me it was designed primarily as a stabber and I shouldn't expect it to cut... are you kidding me? No refund, no discount on another knife, no trade in for replacement in case it was just a bad heat treatment etc. horrible customer service. The Hisshou seems to function better from what I've seen, but i just don't trust CRKT anymore, I bought a pharoah folder after a while and it arrived rusted, that was the last straw.
@kephrarubin Agreed. It's supposed to strictly be a stabber with no handguard, WHAT RUBBISH! I have the Hissatsu folder and I can tell you, that grip design is far too weak for me to want to risk stabbing with in self-defense. Deployment is great, it's a good slash-and-dash weapon to give you the chance to escape an attack but if you stab with it, your hand WILL slip onto the blade. That finger-groove is a joke and the handle gets wider towards the bottom instead of the top!
I just ordered a Hisshou. I would like to find a training curriculum that would help me better learn how to use this very formidable tool more safely and more effectively. Any reccomendations?
Grat vid,its allways a delight to listen to some one on the tube that isnt a total fraud, there are a billion armchair Bushi,s on here.I love your knife designs and Im going to put a Hisshou in my collection soon!
the hissatsu and hisshou are great knifes i have both me now on my current deployment i carry the hissatsu as a everyday knife on my belt and my hisshou is on my i.o.t.v. and i have used both do perfectly what they were designed for
Very humble presentation and review of his own designs. I found it to be quite educational and quite persuasive. :)

Is the Hissatsu folder ever going to come out with a satin finished blade?

@adam111693 No current plans for a satin finished blade at this time. CRKT

He may wear Hawaiian shirts, but under that brightly colored floral pattern is the heart of a killer.

Wonder what a tactical pen created by him would look like

I'm buying my CRKT Hissatsu this month, to both support Mr. Williams, and apply it with my own Kenjutsu training ;-)

Any plan on the improved version of the hissatsu folder with G10 handle, like the construction of the smaller one?
