  • indian culture was much more open...then you guys can guess.

The indian culture unfortunately was mixed with islamic culture because of muslim rule and we became sexually repressive.otherwise you can see indian dresses originally are very open and indian peoples were very pro sex as you can see in the temples of khajuraho, krishna and mahabharat.

  • niceeee song....thanks

  • i really like this song,so many words which i can,t understand but still a beauty

  • REKHA

THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE THE ULTIMATE OF ALL LIVING NON LIVING ENTITY OF THIS BIG DRAMA ALL KRSNA's ECSTASY.

    THE ULTIMATE

    RADHE

HARE KRSNA HARE KRSNA KRSNA KRSNA HARE HARE

HARE RAMA HARE RAMA RAMA RAMA HARE HARE

    HARI BOL

THIS IS A GOOD SONG BY GR8 LATA DI

  • im tanveer zeb

  • truth, godliness, beauty...satyam shivam sundaram!

  • Im black-portuguese if that makes sense.. and this is the first ever indian movie I saw when I was younger... loved it ever since!

  • don't read between the lines(lyrics) just enjoy a nice musiacal composition.India's culture and its music is unique.and great.please don't bring your meaningles idealogies into it.

  • Lingam is also a universal pillar of light in which the Lord

manifested Himself to Vishnu and Brahma.

In general, the linga concept is totally inconceiveable

for people who take their small minds as god.

  • this song send me to god, meke me belive,

  • inspirational song! can someone tell me where i can find this movie online?

  • This song and this film sequence is breathtaking. It embraces the notion that sexuality and fertility are divine.

  • i love this song, but i like the live performance Lataji gave at the royal london hall.

Why isnt she wearing the little bra/shirt thing that usually goes under the saree [sari?idk how to spell it]? Is she wearing a totally diffrent thing that doesnt require one or something? o.o

or is she actually wearing one?

  • @luv3gurl4u : That thing is called Blouse or Choli. In villages, in certain tribes women do not wear a blouse rather the Sari is worn and wrapped in such a way that the chest is completely covered exposing one shoulder and some back. Normally such Saris will be 9 gajas. Modern saris are 6 gajas. In olden days Brahmin women used to wear such saris. My great grandmom used to wear sari without blouse and petty coat or any other undergarments. Ekavastra. Draupadi was ekavastra during Vastrapaharan

  • @jamadhagni as far as i know the word "ekavastraa" for Draupadi refers to her monthly period. In ancient times women used to quarantine into a room during the "period" wearing a single 'vastra' (I am not sure it was a "sari"; I don't think "sari" is that ancient). The reason being obvious...no modern inventions like sanitray napkins...

the whole tragedy of mahabharat thus has its seed in the insult of a woman (and a queen) in her most vulnerable state and hence the fall of the empire...

  • @shoonnya Well said. Deities reside where a woman is respected. All our epics and scriptures have proved this. And thanks for explaining ekavastra word. God bless.

  • @vidhyarthi1: Cool man. wha's wrong in that? Yes, of course it's Penis. Lingam of Lord Shiva and the Yoni (circular base of lingam) is the female counterpart. Devi is Prakruti (Nature) and Shiva is Purusha (Lord). The Lingam is often represented with the Yoni, the aniconic symbol of the goddess. The union represents the "indivisible two-in-oneness of male and female, the passive space and active time from which all life originates". Cool down and be a real Vidyarthi. God bless!

  • I wasn't being disrespectable..........I've been a confirmed atheist since I was born; just making a casual statement. On the other hand one shoud be careful and mindful of other peoples religious and non-religious symbols I suppose.

  • nice boobs

  • adaeaa

  • That is a PENIS......she is putting the milk on the PENIS.

  • @Mostaqueify ...I was thinking the same thing... :D

  • @Mostaqueify Your mother got fucked by something similar to that penis thats why you are sitting here today and commenting on this PENIS.And for rest of all the viewers,I want to say that you will always find same type of M***************F****kr commenting on something that is beyond their understanding. So all we can do is just ignore them just as I will be ignoring this bastard after writing this poem in his honour.Thank you very much.

  • @vidhyarthi1......aren't we touchy?.......that IS A penis isn't it?

  • @Mostaqueify ... Yes thats a Penis ... vidyarthi did get touchy coz he didnt realize that you havent seen one and it was just a genuine doubt from your side ...

  • By the way, which art was created not to make money? Shakespeare was wealthy!

  • Come on people - this was a commercial film, created to make money!!! Religious connotations are secondary. Every religion has a history and have very good reasons for being as they are. Just picking bits and pieces to flavour your argument is futile!!! UNDERSTANDING each other is greatness!!! LOVE conquers all!!!!

  • Raheel you dirty Hindu pig, what you mentioned is all done to discredit Islam,It seems Hinduism is all supertitious philosophy based on sex,all hinduism practices

wicked and perverted acts, what about suttee you practice widow burning, bestiality, woman marrying multiple husbands which is prostitution, sadhus with diseases going around naked most of them are peadophiles ,burning woman for not affording dowry, debt bondage, black magic,

  • Kalkiavtar Ra Riaz Gohar Shahi the last incarnation of Lord Shiv. His image has appeared on the moon.

look for yourself on the full moon.

  • Ooga001@ Lord Shiva is Shiva, Wt Does Shiva MEANS?

AND WT DOES SATYAM AND SUNDRAM MAEANS?

  • this is my favourite song.you know such a beautiful display of the magnificence of hinduism yet ppl condemn.foolish ignorant ppl if u hav nothing good to say about our religion then don't say anyting at all.u make yourself look like a fool.ppl must not criticise other's religions since it's only one God and it's about damn time that you ppl realise that!!! Satyam shivam sundaram

  • @DarkDestroyer74 If you don't like what you see then why watch it to begin with or take the time to comment on it? Keep your politically driven comments to yourself as you obviously don't know about Hinduism!

  • @DarkDestroyer74

ya..committing suicide for allah and taking kafirs down is divine??? beheadings, chopping hands, blowing people up and gettign virgins as reward..now that is sick.

  • antiOtode@ i think you need a hint @ nworb is yet to answer you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

be calm he will answer you!!!

  • i really would like to see an sequel of this movie!!!!!!!!!!!! who according to you can be a new RUPA??? i don't think that now there is an actress that can match to her!!!

  • Shashi kapoor is the most beautiful from kapoors. no one else is

  • i have a question: what is the movie that zeenat aman: that she is burned at one side at her face? xx nasoee

  • @Nasoee movie "satyam shivam sundaram" , burned by hot oil

  • I could write an essay on this. This is a RajKapoor Masterpiece. A deeply rooted Indian erotica in the spirit of Kamasutra that is more openminded than any wiestern ideas. (Note the initial kissing of the Lingam). but then it is complex and mixed with the idea of God on one side.."satyam shivam.." is a reference to the HIndu trinity Brahma Vishnu Mahesh. On the otehr side, pain of ugliness of a burned scar on the neautiful face...all this with a devine voice and brilliant music. HEAVENLY

  • @shoonnya . its a masterpiece. Somehow my interpretation of song & movie is different. The main message of the song ( & even the movie) is- "the Truth is Beautiful" .

Satya-Truth. Sundar- Beautiful. Shiv, though is a God of Hindu religion, but here in this song the word has been used just to build up the argument.

Opening lines- Ishwar satya hai-God is truth. Satya hi Shiv hai- Truth is Shiv. Shiv hi sundar hai- Shiv only is beautiful. Satyam Shivam Sundaram- Truth is beautiful.

  • @dev64fd My comment was AFTER knowing Rajkapoor as an artist. It was about his art. IMHO, the visuals are a beautiful interpretation of the poem about God. Thr' the visuals say: "kaam" is beautiful, hence "holy" and hence "the only truth". If you know "satyam shivam sundaram"; you will see why i used the word "only" here. the song however relates this whole to God and makes it even more beautiful by keeping it away from the usual obscenity...(that could have easily followed from these visuals)

  • Om Namah Shivaya

  • so far was good but a t the end zeenat singing with half nacked clothing, typical indian modrn film where is no modesty is any more evaluated at this day.i guess this was not indian culture(am not an indian)

  • @altrnatvthinker Indian culture never insisted on clothing. Indian saree reveals woman's navel (umbilicus) which is not so common in other countries or cultures. In all pilgrim temples in south india, women never cover their heads with saree's pallu. Even men are not allowed to enter temples wearing shirts and pants rather wearing a dhoti (cloth usually around 7 yards long, wrapped around the waist and the legs, and knotted at the waist). Modesty comes with character not with clothing. Thank you

  • @jamadhagni .i wil go in short.problem is if a amn half cloth nobody looks or care at that but if a woman is in half cloth everybodylooks at it and i guess character and modesty lies their to be a woman responsible for herself. i actually indicated those matters. but thank you either way to make yur time explaining me.

  • @jamadhagni Excellent point!

  • @jamadhagni brilliant

  • @jamadhagni this is such a nice statement. i absolutely agree with u :)

  • ohhhhhhhhhh my wt's a song

  • you guys will never change over the scriptures, every minute a child

is born, depending on you , yet we feed them with the wrong scriptures,

WE COMMENT, LET THE WORLD BE IN PEACE ABT SCRIPTURES.

THATS WHAT IS ALL ABOUT, NOT POWER MONEY OR STRENGTH!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what were the guys talking about? I didn't understand.

  • At the end of the day God doesnt look at your religion , culture, but your heart. An enlightened heart. A heart shimmering with the light of God comes in the esoteric glance of God.

The outward lamps are different but the light within us is the same.

  • Could be Lata's best song.

  • he is maning a mistake... that'll make the sun go down...

  • Satyam,Shivam n Sundaram r three hints to identify a person of God.Who ever said it saw n identified man of God n left it for people to come so that they can identify noble persons of God.Joseph used to speak truth,he was beautiful as well thats y he was shiv(prophet).Jesus,Muhammad,Buddha n Rama all had these two qualities i.e.,they were handsome n used to speak truth n that is y they were shiv(prophets).U can judge even kalki Avtar,Messiah n Mehdi by these two words i.e.,Satyam+Sundaram.

  • Ya'll Sum Haters

i think this guddu is f*****g idiot if he thinks other religions are great its true but derived from Hinduism.

If he answers this question i will believe what he says.

  • no dis is wrong.....not all hindus are good.sum r bad also.n TheJ17M if u think dat u shud b lived under gods foot means u only believe in god not on urself.n dos who dont believe on der self dey r always loser......

  • Satyam Shivam Sundaram meaning, "Truth is God and God is beautiful.

  • SHIVA IS THE PROTECTOR

    AM I RIGHT???

  • @daranlively no the destroyer

  • @shaivya7276 r u sure ?

  • @daranlively Lord Shiva is the destroyer of the ego... the annihilator of manifestation (creation)... the preserver or "protector" is Lord Vishnu.

  • The almighty is trrue.Truth is shiva, and shiva is is beautiful.Wake all and see the miracle of life beeing given to the day.

Satyam (truth)Shivam (Shiva )Sunderam(beauty)Rama.Budha.Shiva of Kashi.Krishna of Vrandavan, assist me o you gods to see u in the homes of all.Radha Mohan (krishna) ideals of truth.

  • wat shiva is this, the god or shivji?

  • wt does SATYAM SIVAM SUNDRAM

    means?

  • means decent

  • Yeah just like you Pream5

  • Stop bringing religion into this. All religions were dispensed and are maintained to keep people in line and to keep people from behaving immorally. If you need religion to give your life purpose, then that is good for you. Many people don't need any Religion to guide them and they can still live a decent life. Lets just end it at that. Now lets move on to how hot Zeenat Aman is! I wasn't even alive back in the 70s but WOW! Zeenat Aman is gorgeous.

  • @pream5 wow lol i read ur first bit of the comment and completed agreed with u then said how hot zeenat aman is lol there u answered ur question urself, this why u need religion because it teaches u the path which can take direct to the almighty and also teaches u moral value such as control your mind and u defentaily need to control ur lust

  • @aman113 - please keep your pseudo-psychoanalysis to yourself. it's not "deep" or "enlightening" in the least bit. Religion is a construct people like YOU need as a moral compass to guide yourselves. Many people (like myself) don't need it. Keep thy religion to thyself, thank you! Last time I checked, "the almighty" didn't appoint YOU to be a spokesperson. You you have exact same flaws as anyone else on this planet so stop preaching "the way" to "control your mind". Good day.

  • wts the moral of this movie?

  • @daranlively : the moral is that Zeenat Aman is very hot.

  • very nice

  • Nabish, i wana ask u , that has modern man understand what is GOD? just listen this BHAJAN, after all these kind of BHAJANS man become bound to accept RADHA MOHAN as the GODs

  • If thats the meaning ur getting from song, then u really don't understand the meaning of "Satyam shivam sundram". I am not hindu btw, but I understand the depth of the message. It is not refering to a diety. Open ur mind, u'll b amazed at the knowledge that is around u.

  • @nworb very well messaged my friend.

  • @nworb

what do you think the meaning of this song is?

  • @VideoKildDaRadioStar the name of this film is same as this song, and in russia it was translated as "thruth, love, beauty". i doubt that it is correct name(in russia the like to put word "love" in the name of indian films...:-) , and i dont know sanscrit, but i think it is close meaning. i wud be glad, if you tell

  • @MariaPndm

I don't know either! I do not understand Sanskrit or Hindi. I thought you had your own interpretation of the symbolic meaning of the song which is why I was asking.

  • @VideoKildDaRadioStar

meaning, "Truth is God and God is beautiful. The story has dual message, one, the apparent human ugliness and the inner beauty. The second is the relationship of man with his wife and the lover. There are two distractions in the movie as well, first is the nudity and second is the action-packed climax which was needed to close the story.

  • @nworb please give anothr hint

  • @nworb ...well said! i agree. why the beauty of man's creativity like this song has to be turned into a religious war of words beats me.

  • @nworb

    Well said.

It's how misguided and clueless people can get.

  • pls guys who sang ths song?

  • @daranlively The one and only Latha Mangeshkar-Nightingale of India.

  • I think it's Lata Mangeshkar...

  • Many wrong things Human have been doin since ancient time ...that doesnt make it rite ...

  • Many people fllwing doesnt make smtg rite.Ancient people dont understand what is GOD so they followed it.and so on followed by all the people until now.God sent his prophets to earth to teach human kind about him stage by stage according to the level of human understanding Spiritual things. It is not the 1st but the oldest religion known to human history and oldest recorded in history.Trust must be in just One GOD no confusion until we have to be devotee of two.Trust in ONE God and his powers.

  • may Devi Bhagavati Bless us all...

I love you my Dearest Shiv Bhagwan...let us praise Our Mother together...

    and let there be peace...eternally...

    Om Shanti Shanti Shanti Hi...

  • excellent song

  • bhagwanan di pein nu lun

  • God is everywhere...but we cant see the divine....We are admiring creations of god.We are all beautiful to god and beauty is within and when love strikes everyting is beautiful, even the cruelty and brutality of life and nature.

  • why worshippin people ...we must worship God...the most exalted, the incomparable..There is only one eternal God..religion contain Gods message deilivered to us by his prophet by time to time according to the need of the era..according to maturiy of human kind to understand his message from time to time..Divine people also worshiped God ..Why are u worshiping the Divine people and not the God..we are all created by only one GOD ..humans call him in different names in different languages..

  • Her body reminds me of statues of hindu goddesses and yakshis.

By the way, they weren't covered much either.

  • What was kama sutra?if you understand the message of this film..that the soul is more beautiful then the outer body, you wouldnt make such comments....This film is a masterpiece and Zeenat shoul d be applauded abd revered,,She was the most beautifu, still is and will be always...She changed the look of indian cinema which was still stuck to prehistoric times....Zeenat is a goddess.

  • Typical of you resorting to name calling, however you do admit that you are worshiping an idol? Hope you know that we all came from Adam and Eve.

  • i love this movie, where i can get it????????

  • The thing that the people are worshiping is made by human hands, how can it hear what they are saying i am flabbergasted.

  • raj kapoor had most of his actresses dressed in a very revealing way and hardly wearing anything such as

    zeenat aman in this film

madakhni in ram teri ganga mali

    and dimple kapadia in boby

    hmmmm

  • i like zeenat but shes looking soo bad in this video.. shes good in western look..

  • Mader chod tai tu................

  • and you are a fucking asshole pakistani

  • abbe saale gaand marale!

  • @dlsb13 ALL religions are the TRUE RELIGION.Someone has to be wrong. LOL

What if there is no god???? U die & turn to dust....period.Alot of wasted prayers. lol

  • @ed11561

That's from your view point. If you think so, you are entitled to. I stand correct with my comments and you too shall stand correct with your comments - Peace.

  • @dlsb13 ALL religions are the TRUE RELIGION.Someone has to be wrong. LOL

Actually that is NOT just a point of view. It is really an indisputable FACT.Wheather u

like it or not is another story, but it is a fact. EVERY religion claims to be the TRUE religion but that in itself, cannot be possible. Simple thinking shows that if there is 1 True religion then all the rest are wrong.Just analyzing the thought-that's all.

  • @ed11561

Thanx for your comments but pls do not reply to me, esp when you posted " Go to India now and worship the blue baby lol ". I am just here to post my opinion and listen to this lovely song which is beautiful and meaningful to me. To each its own.

  • @dlsb13 Gee i'm here to post my opinion also.U don't like it....don't respond genius.

  • @dlsb13 Finally someone who knows.. If u study all religions u find that they're all from Hinduisme.. Thats why I dont want to hate anymore

PROUD TO BE HINDU! May Godd bless me under his foots..

  • @dlsb13 o hello dis is not true at all..der other religions...n n no religion is bigger or smaller all r equal...but u hindus made dis caste discrimination.n made ur self as upperclass....n dont b so proud as u r born as hindu n hindusim has made every1 behind...infact other religion has made u hindus behind....understand.

  • @dlsb13 it is also the Father of all religion..

    Surprise!

  • @dlsb13 If by watching this song you are convinced that Hinduism is the greatest religion in which you wish to be reborn then please also tell us in which caste?

  • @fidellse

No caste...only as a human. I respect all living forms. I do not look down upon anyone, my friends range from all walks of life, even gays. My friends are of all religion, but I am very proud to be a Hindu. I love my religion. MY friends know that I love my religion...we look past our religion and be friends. To each its own.

  • @dlsb13 .....

I did not get convinced or know this, that Hinduism is the Mother of all religion from this song. This is something I know for a long time.

  • @dlsb13 But how can you deny the maladies with which Hinduism is replete? When it comes to religion it is hard for me to believe ardent followers. This is not only about Hinduism, every religion thrives on certain practices that are outrageous. You would agree with me, if you know them. They are endemic to every religion, I would say. Instead of cleansing them, people tend to find justifications for them which I find inane. I doubt Hinduism without caste is a possibility in the future.

  • @fidellse

I understand what you are saying.......but instead of changing people or cleansing them, I change and cleanse myself first, be it any religion. Just do good, and Karma will take care of the rest. I do alot of reading , there are actually many facts and fictions about Hinduism itself. I follow the facts and do the right thing.

  • @dlsb13 Sorry, if I am sounding a bit rude, but some things just do not hold water and the karma theory is one of them. I have no problems with good Hindus, but turning towards religion attributing our hard earned success to it make very little sense to me. You seem to be a nice person, but you believe in the karma stuff? I am not talking about cleansing people, but religious practices that are antithetical to the tenets of humanity which we share as conscious and moral human beings.

  • @fidellse

Hmmm.......so if I believe in Karma, am I a bad person ? Karma simply means one good deed deserves another. You find religion practices antithetical , can you please tell me why ? I am just curious , that's all. when I venture to do something , I pray to God for guidance and success. After I succeed, I thank God for guiding me. No, you are not rude. We are just discussing , that's all.

  • @dlsb13 Does it mean that those who follow religions have good karma? What about those who follow religions only in theory and not in practice? Did those who are afflicted with life threatening conditions and those who work hard and struggle against poverty today have bad karmas in their past life? Why do you attribute your success to God? It is your hard work that pays you. You should rather be grateful to your parents than the non-entity called God.

  • @fidellse

Yes I do agree with you again. It is my hard work that pays off....and yes I know people who prays everyday & are miserable in life. Karma is not a rebirth. Yes we believe one is born in this world for a reason, to repent , learn lessons, to fulfil something. I don't attribute my success to God but I give thanx to God.

  • @dlsb13 I do not think one is born to fulfill certain tasks. We learn things along the way as we grow up. We learn things better when we are conscious of what surrounds us. Circumstances also tend to shape our approach towards life. So I would say that the supernatural has no role to play in what we think and do. In fact it is not in the picture at all.

  • @fidellse

ok, as you wish. Have a good life.

  • @dlsb13

Can you see pain ? Can you see happiness ? Can you see hunger ? One has to feel it, then you will know. Faith is also like that. I have gone thru alot in my life, but I have faith in my religion and that is what kept my head above the water. U have to experience it. Another beautiful thing about Hinduism is , we do not convert anyone. As long as you don't do anything bad, you can still be a good Hindu. TC.

  • @dlsb13 WHAT A THOUGHT .GOD BLESS YOU .

  • @prettypinky100

Thank you. May God Bless you too. TC.

  • @dlsb13 may god bless us & guide us to right path ...

    regards

  • Most comments here are nonsense. You have to be a true believer in GOD. For all the sins I have committed in my life, I am a true believer now. There is a higher force. I am a convert now. I hope its not too late

  • very very few people have actually experienced satayam shivum sundaram in their lives, very very few LUCKIEST ONES!! N THE WHOLE WORLD THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE/ARE GREATEST LOOSERS!!...HA HA HA..WAT A RIDDLE!!

  • what is this thing the actress is washing or probably worshiping?

  • She is worshiping by cleaning the temple. One can attain Moksha by various kinds of devotion - by Bhakti, Karma, Raja, Gnana Yogas. Her acts in this song can be considered to be as Bhakti and Karma Yogas.

  • Could it be that Raj Kapoor asked L.P. to compose this one based on Jaago Mohan Pyaare and LP obliged? Followed by Ram Teri Ganga Maili- title song. All same scale and same flavour.

  • j'me rapel quand j'été petit je l'est écouté, trés belle chanson

  • Movie that music, cast , director and ALL will never be forgotten.Masterpiece!

  • same song was reused by vidyasagar in Satyam sivam sundaram (Malayalam) 2002.

  • This film is on Zee Cinema (UK) as I type this. The Misses made me turn it over, did not approve. :-(
