  • I thought this was a cover, and I went to a different tab while this played, and thought "The fuck, whoever is singing sounds exactly like Marcus."

  • it's amazing to see how they swap instruments along time and how much passion they put on their musics. simply brilliant.

  • Lol at the drummers face!

  • omg...they have come along way...to selling out everywhere!!!

  • I love this song SO much! OMFG! Always touches something deep inside of me...

  • FUCK YEAH MARCUS MUMFORD! HE STOLE MY HEART AND MADE ME SING!

  • seems there is a little pink floyd influence to this song

  • That's real music!!!!

  • My favorite line is "You'll pray to the God that you've always denied". It gives me chills every time that I hear it..

  • I love how dark these songs are, and the lighting of the stage just matches it. Two awesome songs<3

  • I. Love. You. Guys. More than anything. I just bought your CD, and it was the happiest 9 dollars have ever made me. Constant replay? Yes. THANK YOU FOR EXISTING.

  • One of the many things that amazes me about these guys is that when this video was filmed they had been together for ONE year! Their chemistry must have been so instant & intense right from the get go. Just amazing. May it continue for as long as we all shall live :)

  • @LostGingerAle I say amen to that! :))

  • Awhile ago I was introduced to a band called Needtobreathe (any fans?) by my family, and it was the first modern group I heard with a banjo/southern/folk style. Anyone else notice that it's getting really popular, especially now with Mumford & Sons?

  • These guys make me want to play my heart out. How on Earth did such emotional players find each other? Haha. Well, good find.

  • did four people dislike how you get goosebumbs listening to this?

  • that was amazing.

  • "Take the spade from my hands and fill in the holes you've made"?

  • When people call Mumford and Sons an overnight success, they need to be reminded about all the little gigs like this they played for years.

  • I have covered myself with Thistle and Weeds, and it is beginning to suffocate... However, Mumford & Sons has a way of shining their light through the darkness. This is much more than music; it's artistry at its best. Thank you Mumford & Sons

  • !!!

  • Obeskrivbart fantastiskt....vilken musik!

  • You're in my veins. Damn you Mumford and Sons. Damn You.

  • @curbasboricua I know, right? Can't stop listening... can you say support group?

  • @camo229 no

  • I liked it just so it wouldn't have 666 likes. In reality, I love it.

  • 8:43 to the end. Yeah, you band that drum. Show it who's the boss.

    --I mean, good song, what...?

  • Lmao watch the drummer 2:22 to 2:30 xx

  • hehehe no need for the 1911 music... this fuckin beats that anyday.

  • i opened an account just to comment on this

mumford and sons is like a state of bliss, ecstacy and true awakening wrapped in one. Chills isnt even the word to describe the all encompasing feeling you get when taking in their melody, their meaning, their song. Rather it is your soul coming out, and tingling the very essence of you're being.

  • @mark1a1craddock i opened an account just to load up on their songs. Theyre are unbelievably amazing. I could listen to only them for the rest of my life!

  • @mark1a1craddock Perfectly said!!!

  • They made me cry.

  • love their style, dress, and sense of talent. great band overall.

  • i feel like i am watching my own private practice of them in my garage or somethin...lol

i love this thanks for the post :D

  • I never get tired of watching Ben play that piano

  • I'm not one to even post comments....so I had to get an acct today....this band is so original, so fresh, so intense...I could go on & on....I'm a newby on this group...I have really been missing out..listening to all the crap thats out there..half the time I listen to talk radio for noise....not anymore!

  • Wow, the message behind the sound is powerful... in all their songs! To interject the message of a spiritual world through the reality of daily life is wonderfully acceptable and quite attractive!

  • i like how he goes from guitar to drums and there is absolutely no talent drop off.

  • DAMN....they are soooooo flippin good, ima junkie, LOL!!!!

  • marcus mumford, get in my bed.

  • he sounds good live nothing mixed or changed. refreshing

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IT GOT CUT OFF EARLY AAHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGG

  • Me as a drummer, I would give anything i have for standing once with them on the stage and play one song with them!!!

  • Ted on drums! <3

    Love Ben's hat!!

  • I love his passion

  • Right now the only place to find Sons of A.M. Is on facebook. Samuel Hunt is the drummer and a friend of mine, he has posted 3 videos of them performing at local places. He told me they LOVE Mumford and Sons, check them out!

I will let him know he should be posting lots of stuff on you tube! He mentioned they are recording a demo! Thanks for responding to my post!! Dayz

  • I fuckin luv the way amrcus plays drums...

  • This is my first time hearing this genre of music and I love it. This song in particular, Thisthle and Weeds, is very ...very real. I love the melody and the singers voice. I plan to follow up on this band. I know another great band that is up and coming in the New York area that is creating the same type music! Sons of A.M. ! Thanks Dayz

  • @Jaydazmommy Tried to find Sons of A.M. but can't...anything on youtube???

  • Simply amazing.

  • WHAT"D YOU STOP FOR!?!?!?!!!!!

  • gods among men

  • I love this song, so many of their songs carry you on such an epic painful journey that by the end your fucking exhausted. In the best way imaginable. M&S best band in years.......

  • Dear Mumford and Sons,

why are you always sold out?! you are too awesome thats why. I would like very much to see you guys live, at least once before I die. hahaha

  • You've explained my heart.

  • The first part kinda sound like carol of the bells.

  • Acabei de descobrir e já estou viciado =D

  • This magical performance takes me back to a Night that I was Baking a Cake for my grandmothers Birthday.

Unfortunately She Passed away before I could give It to her.

Which Pleases me because If she had slipped away after She had eaten It I may have got the blame for her Demise.

I Forgot to put any Eggs In the cake and It sat a Little heavy on the Stomach.

It Is quite Uncanny Because I visited her grave recently and It Is covered In Thistles and Weeds.

To Think I wanted her Buried at sea.

  • @Fryersmuck in another life i believe i could've been your barber and you, the local petrol station attendant.. the two being unacquainted but, oddly enough, never missing the community thursday night poker game

  • @Fryersmuck is there hidden symbolism in all the capitals

  • @micemei

No he's just retarded and doesn't know the right placement for properly placing a capital.

  • @Fryersmuck COOL STORY BRO

  • @Fryersmuck i wept...

  • simply AWESOME. I have no freaking words.

  • I love the way that Thistle and Weeds builds and builds until finally you're left exhausted, kinda numb and flabbergasted, and slightly depressed by the fact that it's over.

  • This band is so amazing

i swear that there is no other band that has that same unique sound as them!

Oh my goodness... i just can't get over them!

  • @SSingNRun - Check out "Trampled by Turtles" Not as good but a pretty good band in it's own right. TBT is from Duluth minnesota and they kick ass live! Codeine and Whiskey are 2 of my favorite songs by them.

  • hes playing an electric bass, that is quite different from usual

  • now that's what I call music.

  • now that's what I call music.

  • he is fucking orchestra men!

  • do you think he ment to sing the wrong lyrics at the end?

  • Thistle and weeds is my most favorite song ever!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I also love the fact that they put the same effort into every gig no matter if there are 15 people or 20,000 in the crowd. Far and away the best band around today!! They deserve their success and much more acclaim for this album!!

  • I absolutly love these songs. After I bought the album there were fastly becoming my two favorite songs. I do however like the album version of Thistle and Weeds better, I like how it is slower and sounds a bit creepier. At any rate I have been listening to this album everyday at least 2x a day for the past 8 months. I just love it. Next month I will be getting some of their lyrics tattood on my forearm in honor of their brilliant songwriting. Excellent.

  • I didn't pay enough attention to this song on their album before but just listened to it properly and wow..

  • Comment removed

  • WOW. Amazing performance.

  • he messed up the last verse, if ya'll notice. they're like Coldplay w/beards huh?

  • fanbloodytastic!

  • The intensity of Thistle and Weeds gets all the emotion out. It's insane how talented this band is. I cannot even put them into words.

If I could marry the band itself, I would. No doubt. XD

  • @iSadiee14 me too! EXACTLY how I feel!

  • @iSadiee14 me too o.o!! i wanna take it home and have little bands with it

    Joanna Newsom - Sadie

  • Marcus puts 100% into this. you know on x factor how the judges all go 'oooh well done, that was a hard song to sing, your a pleasure to work with', they should take note of the music this band creates.

  • Go out and buy the album, support the artist you love before they disappear due to lack of funds.

  • @demsmine seriously, people dont buy music enough these days

  • Love it.

  • these guys can play any instrument and any position, awesome, awesome, awesome! I LOVE MUMFORD AND SONS!

  • thistle and weeds is amazing! they create this sort of atmosphere that feels like a storm, got to be one of my favourite m&s songs. dust bowl dance is amazing too, tells a fantastic story. Mumford and Sons! <3

  • great band

  • this is the music that sounds like, what i FEEL Inside.... it is within this music that i can truly connect my heart and my soul. it is where i seek peace and where i am free.

  • jsut as good live as in recorded songs, wowo

  • I cannot express enough how much I LOVE this band!!! Just Amazing.

  • The drummer's face has a funny expression ^^ . Btw awesome song and band!

  • wow these guys are freaking amazing

  • These gys are fabulous. A friend just turned me onto Dustbowl Dance today; whens the next venue in the US????

  • who failed at hitting the like button, yeah you putting down pure skill how could you?

  • Fook me...pure talent

  • This is my favourite song from the album!

  • They had an interview thing in a radio station, and Marcus[vox] is the best drummer of the band, and Ted [bass] is the best guitarist [though they all play the instrument.]

So I find it neat that Marcus Switched it up on Dustbowl Dance

  • killer sequence

  • Awesome!!!! Thanks for sharing a gem.

  • supervet

  • just the greatest thing since sliced bread

  • MAGNETIC vocal....Awesome!

  • Very Pink Floyd about this track. Reminds me of 'Set Controls for the Heart of the Sun' Anyone else think so.

  • Love them love them LOVE THEM!!!!

  • Any idea if they're planning on coming back to Ireland any time soon? =D

  • He really has a go at that cymbal at the DBD climax

  • Goin' to Philly to see these guys, and I absolutely can't wait. This album is incredible, and they do look better live.

  • @tschock1012 I seem to remember that at the time Marcus said that this was the first time they had played it live. Maybe they just changed the lyrics!

  • @SeeGigFilmGigPost Yes, I'm sure that could be it. Maybe I'm imagining it, but he has sort of a look on his face like he knew he sang the wrong line. I don't know. Anyway...it's a great video. Love these guys!

  • heh...he messes up the lyrics a bit. ;-)

  • mumford & sons is far better live than they are in the studio, which is saying something since sigh no more is incredible.

  • man, this video doesnt do them justice. i saw them live and they were just phenomenal, they connected to the audience, everyone was just buzzing..absolutely awesome band

  • Lovee theseee!

  • Love this bloke's turn of phrase - "I'll know my song well 'fore I start singing" - (Dylan - "Hard rain's a gonna' fall) Wonder what influences they've filtered and distilled to get that consistency of sound and feeling?

  • lads this is some of the most of the amazing stuf ive listen to its cool the way the singer plays the drums and the drummer plays the bass:):0

CANT WAIT TO SEE YE AT OXYGEN:)

  • i kept getting scared to listen to more and more songs by these cause i was scared i will find one which will make me think they are just average...o my how i was wrong! amazing doesnt even start to say how good these are!

  • i love these guys so much! i cant believe they were in australia and i missed it! white blank page and this song breaks my heart :) so beautiful

  • This song is awesome, yes. BUT - it is essentially a rip off of Emotion Sickness by Silverchair in the mid section.... shame really. And they would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

  • No, not really lad.. not really.

  • yes really lad, yes really. That'll do pig.

  • @HStocktonThompson - You really think they listen to Silverchair?

  • well, i dont know. Was just making a comparison! Perhaps the use of the phrase 'rip off' was a bit strong. I'm sorry if i really did, genuinely upset you. But, it still stands, it does sound very similar in terms of progression. As for whether they listen to Silverchair or not, who knows. Are you suggesting they wouldn't? Out of some kind of need to be cool, or just ignorant? Either way, hope i didnt ruin your day. :p

  • @HStocktonThompson - No worries. I just thought the odds were against it, and that they enough talent to not need bits from others. As you said, awesome song.

  • Totally awesome song! You should check out Frightened Rabbit! Now they are fantastic! Look up 'Fast Blood' or 'The Lonliness and the Scream'. Fucking epic!

  • Thanks, I'll give 'em a squiz, although I try to not listen to too many bands. "School of Seven Bells" and "Smashing Pumpkins" were it for last year. Looks like Mumford & Sons, "The Break" (ex Midnight Oil and Violent Femmes) and the Pumpkins might be it for this year.

  • Anyone knows what kind of cymbal that is he uses?

  • isn't the melody that starts at 2.13 from some other song?

  • Absolutly FANTASTIC!!!!!

  • Indeed.

but the part that starts at 2.13 reminded me of some other song, i just don't know which.

  • This is amazing

  • Stunning!

  • I can't believe how quick they've sold out, well i can because they're brilliant.

    i'm desperate to see them!

they're gorgeous and the album is fantastic.

this and white blank page are definately my favourites - resolution for 10' to see the sons! :)

  • Pure brilliance.

  • this is one of my favourites... next to

the cave, little lion man, winter winds, white blank page, sigh no more, roll away your stone, liar, timshel, i gave you all, after the storm and awake my soul!

    :D

cant help it they are all so fuckin brilliant!

have i mentioned that i love marcus?

    <3

  • wow. this is ridiculously brilliant

  • by far the best version of dust bowl available!!! what a band. roll on 2010. these guys are gonna be huge. cant wait.

  • @wstfpromotions you are so right.

  • sounds perfect! like a studio recording

  • So Marcus plays banjo, acoustic guitar, drums and has both a tambourine and a bass drum strapped to his legs?! Talented.

    Good band.

I'm looking forward to January and seeing them live.

  • @stantheguy actually they all play drums lol. talented bunch.

    love these songs :D

  • @stantheguy Don't forget that he plays mandolin and ukelele aswell
