I. Love. You. Guys. More than anything. I just bought your CD, and it was the happiest 9 dollars have ever made me. Constant replay? Yes. THANK YOU FOR EXISTING.
One of the many things that amazes me about these guys is that when this video was filmed they had been together for ONE year! Their chemistry must have been so instant & intense right from the get go. Just amazing. May it continue for as long as we all shall live :)
Awhile ago I was introduced to a band called Needtobreathe (any fans?) by my family, and it was the first modern group I heard with a banjo/southern/folk style. Anyone else notice that it's getting really popular, especially now with Mumford & Sons?
I have covered myself with Thistle and Weeds, and it is beginning to suffocate... However, Mumford & Sons has a way of shining their light through the darkness. This is much more than music; it's artistry at its best. Thank you Mumford & Sons
Love these guys, I bought the album coz of little lion man, n discovered this haunting song. Haven't listened to the of the album yet, but i'm sure i'll be pleasantly suprised
Didnt wana watch a live version of this song, because the recorded version is that amazing I didnt wana know for sure if they could do it live...fuck me there amazing...
mumford and sons is like a state of bliss, ecstacy and true awakening wrapped in one. Chills isnt even the word to describe the all encompasing feeling you get when taking in their melody, their meaning, their song. Rather it is your soul coming out, and tingling the very essence of you're being.
@mark1a1craddock i opened an account just to load up on their songs. Theyre are unbelievably amazing. I could listen to only them for the rest of my life!
I'm not one to even post comments....so I had to get an acct today....this band is so original, so fresh, so intense...I could go on & on....I'm a newby on this group...I have really been missing out..listening to all the crap thats out there..half the time I listen to talk radio for noise....not anymore!
Wow, the message behind the sound is powerful... in all their songs! To interject the message of a spiritual world through the reality of daily life is wonderfully acceptable and quite attractive!
Right now the only place to find Sons of A.M. Is on facebook. Samuel Hunt is the drummer and a friend of mine, he has posted 3 videos of them performing at local places. He told me they LOVE Mumford and Sons, check them out!
I will let him know he should be posting lots of stuff on you tube! He mentioned they are recording a demo! Thanks for responding to my post!! Dayz
This is my first time hearing this genre of music and I love it. This song in particular, Thisthle and Weeds, is very ...very real. I love the melody and the singers voice. I plan to follow up on this band. I know another great band that is up and coming in the New York area that is creating the same type music! Sons of A.M. ! Thanks Dayz
I love this song, so many of their songs carry you on such an epic painful journey that by the end your fucking exhausted. In the best way imaginable. M&S best band in years.......
@Fryersmuck in another life i believe i could've been your barber and you, the local petrol station attendant.. the two being unacquainted but, oddly enough, never missing the community thursday night poker game
I love the way that Thistle and Weeds builds and builds until finally you're left exhausted, kinda numb and flabbergasted, and slightly depressed by the fact that it's over.
@SSingNRun - Check out "Trampled by Turtles" Not as good but a pretty good band in it's own right. TBT is from Duluth minnesota and they kick ass live! Codeine and Whiskey are 2 of my favorite songs by them.
I also love the fact that they put the same effort into every gig no matter if there are 15 people or 20,000 in the crowd. Far and away the best band around today!! They deserve their success and much more acclaim for this album!!
I absolutly love these songs. After I bought the album there were fastly becoming my two favorite songs. I do however like the album version of Thistle and Weeds better, I like how it is slower and sounds a bit creepier. At any rate I have been listening to this album everyday at least 2x a day for the past 8 months. I just love it. Next month I will be getting some of their lyrics tattood on my forearm in honor of their brilliant songwriting. Excellent.
Marcus puts 100% into this. you know on x factor how the judges all go 'oooh well done, that was a hard song to sing, your a pleasure to work with', they should take note of the music this band creates.
thistle and weeds is amazing! they create this sort of atmosphere that feels like a storm, got to be one of my favourite m&s songs. dust bowl dance is amazing too, tells a fantastic story. Mumford and Sons! <3
this is the music that sounds like, what i FEEL Inside.... it is within this music that i can truly connect my heart and my soul. it is where i seek peace and where i am free.
They had an interview thing in a radio station, and Marcus[vox] is the best drummer of the band, and Ted [bass] is the best guitarist [though they all play the instrument.]
So I find it neat that Marcus Switched it up on Dustbowl Dance
@tschock1012 I seem to remember that at the time Marcus said that this was the first time they had played it live. Maybe they just changed the lyrics!
@SeeGigFilmGigPost Yes, I'm sure that could be it. Maybe I'm imagining it, but he has sort of a look on his face like he knew he sang the wrong line. I don't know. Anyway...it's a great video. Love these guys!
man, this video doesnt do them justice. i saw them live and they were just phenomenal, they connected to the audience, everyone was just buzzing..absolutely awesome band
Love this bloke's turn of phrase - "I'll know my song well 'fore I start singing" - (Dylan - "Hard rain's a gonna' fall) Wonder what influences they've filtered and distilled to get that consistency of sound and feeling?
i kept getting scared to listen to more and more songs by these cause i was scared i will find one which will make me think they are just average...o my how i was wrong! amazing doesnt even start to say how good these are!
This song is awesome, yes. BUT - it is essentially a rip off of Emotion Sickness by Silverchair in the mid section.... shame really. And they would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for those pesky kids!
well, i dont know. Was just making a comparison! Perhaps the use of the phrase 'rip off' was a bit strong. I'm sorry if i really did, genuinely upset you. But, it still stands, it does sound very similar in terms of progression. As for whether they listen to Silverchair or not, who knows. Are you suggesting they wouldn't? Out of some kind of need to be cool, or just ignorant? Either way, hope i didnt ruin your day. :p
@HStocktonThompson - No worries. I just thought the odds were against it, and that they enough talent to not need bits from others. As you said, awesome song.
Totally awesome song! You should check out Frightened Rabbit! Now they are fantastic! Look up 'Fast Blood' or 'The Lonliness and the Scream'. Fucking epic!

This magical performance takes me back to a Night that I was Baking a Cake for my grandmothers Birthday.
Unfortunately She Passed away before I could give It to her.
Which Pleases me because If she had slipped away after She had eaten It I may have got the blame for her Demise.
I Forgot to put any Eggs In the cake and It sat a Little heavy on the Stomach.
It Is quite Uncanny Because I visited her grave recently and It Is covered In Thistles and Weeds.
To Think I wanted her Buried at sea.
