yes it can pause. all of my videos are from this camcorder. i know for sure my latest video has pauses in it.

i love this lil camera, only thing bad i would say about it is its hard to keep the video still. but this tiny camcorder is for your pocket and it has all the software in it. you just record, plug into computer and save. very easy. I paid about 120 on amazon like a year ago.
