Wow!!! one of the best from down here! can you spare some technical details? surely you didn't do it via prime focus... what is the actual magnification through the eye piece? thanks again for sharing
wow!!!! these are some magnificent pictures!! question... you probbably answer this before but, when you hook your camera into your telescope, do you get all this magnification, or do you have to do something else to do it? I mean, is your telescope that powerfull?
wow! very nice images you took there! ;) did you use a FF/FR for the ED? i hope i'll start taking guided pictures too, through my C80ED, soon.. i just love how your dso-s show. clear skies!
I love your photos and am wanting to photograph similarly. I am looking at getting an Orion Skyview Pro GoTo with a 127mm Mak-Cass on it. I also at some point will be picking up an auto-guider for it. I do have a question though. Using prime focus (camera direct to telescope for those who don't know) how can you "zoom" on a certain object once it's centered. With the L adapter and lenses this is done by swapping out eye pieces, but as I understand it, in prime, it's body direct to scope.
Can you help me out with my digital camera please? My focusing lens is broken, but the camera is a good as new and in working condition. If I simply remove the lenses in from of the CCD chip - my camera turns off automatically after 1-2 seconds. It's not getting any data from the lenses thus is shuts off. Any way to go "around" that problem? My camera is really an HD one and I'm pretty sick of filming using web cameras. Please help! Thank you!
Hi!your kit is good enough after u get a full goto mount, you also need a autoguiding system !!for long-exposure astrophotography, good focus is important, too. There'r many ways of focusing,u can google it on internet.
some breathtaking images mate, thanks for showing them. i have just recently caught the bug. got myself a SW evostar 120 on eq5 and canon 500 d. would love to take images like this. do you have any advice on how to get started. my mount will be modded soon with full goto. is my kit good enough so far?
I am about to go nuts! I got this ETX 125 PE and am having a time trying to SEE anything! I am not a newbie but this thing is driving me nuts! I think I will go throw it in the bayou or trade it for a big dob!
So if you are using a smaller aperture telescope, such as a 90mm refractor, can you compensate for lack of aperture by using longer exposures to capture more detail? Or does the larger aperture give you a larger image and a smaller one a smaller image?
The longer the exposure the more light hits the sensors, so my understanding is smaller the aperture = less light, but still for DSO you need a long exposure to get the details. Now the colors I cant explain, other than filters of some sort. But remember with longer exposures you need to have a good tracking platform.
It would be great and even better, if you actually added what picture was taken with what type of Telescope and Camera combination. Now people with interest in astrophotography could think that a ED80 can make extreme detailed pictures, but lacks in diameter. Conclusion is : Add combination of Telescope and Camera used to each picture to get a better idea of what those instruments really reveal :)

very nice astrophotography example! simple, but beautiful :)
What kind of trigger did you use?
I do some astrophotography and use this remote trigger for it: astrus.bymac.org

no,my telescope is not powerfull, when the camera attach to the telescope,
your can only see some bright DSO(m45,m31,m42...and some Globular Cluster)through the camera's viewfinder
,and most of them are Black&white...
you can google "Astro photography image processing"

You can't "ZOOM" u can only "FOCUS",you need focus your camera on a bright star first,u can do that manually or via astro software.

most goto mounts have the guide port can connect to guiding camera(CCD),you need to buy a guiding CCD

Great pics and excellent processing!
Very strong red response -Does that 350D have the IR filter mod?
Some almost look like you were doing some per channel filtered RGB/ LRGB.

So I am assuming by looking at your website that some of the images were taken with a larger scope.

that's easy recording video or take a pic of planets with "WB5000",if you really like deep sky object, you need a DSLR.
