idk if you have found out by now, but the general difference between difficulties on vocals is how wide the pitch bars are in the phrases of the song. So the higher in difficulty, the more picky the game gets in giving score depending on how pitch-perfect you are.

I don't blame ya.
On expert, most of the songs on Rockband are hard to get high points on by singing. And if you do sing to match the bar, it's not natural.
