  • they must have replaced the singer cause this is not good. sorry

  • John Frusciante brought me here<3

  • @tessa1986zg John Frusciante takes me everywhere

  • Maureen Tucker rules :D

  • So simple, yet so great!

  • Esta canción es de lo más relajante que hay ..

  • Is it New York?

  • @mantra3000 - Toronto, Ontario.

  • @Timmybear Thank you!

  • love this song

  • this song makes me want to hug her and say it would be ok.

  • good one moe

  • Heard it in The Science of Sleep. (:

  • @RadioArcade26 My girlfriend saw it there too and was crazy for this tune XD

  • this song is so relatable

  • Sure is nice to see old TO again. Haven't driven down those streets in years. Good cover of the song too.

  • j'adore cette chanson !!!! :)

  • I just realized this is toronto!

  • I think this reminds people of Juno because of the Moldy Peaches, who were probably at least somewhat influenced by this vein of music... not that this is typical Velvet at all, obviously.

  • beautiful :)

  • tdot

  • its perfect. did you fim this?

  • YAY Toronto

  • the song would be better without the babylon city...i mean... the city

  • Asi mismo me siento cuando me obligan a salir un poco....jijjiijiiijijiiji....

  • aww. pretty pretty.

  • Toronto!!

  • It's sedgwick or Tucker ?

  • I was thinking about driving around the city tonight and making a video just like this, to this very song.

  • this is amazing, such a natural video

  • its Maureen Tucker singing, she was VU's drummer. She sang im sticking with you aswell

  • the styles like adam green or the moldy peaches, very nice

  • is it nico?

  • Anyone have any idea why other videos of this song are swamped with people convinced with is edie sedgwick singing when she never sang a note in her life?

  • @iamcosmichands It might be because Edie DID want to be a singer and took vocal lessons and tried (unsuccessfully) to sing along with the VU in 1966. Maureen's off-key singing is probably what Edie's attempts would have sounded like.

  • Maureen sounds a bit like Judy Garland. Totally killer for me, I love their voices.

  • totally learned about this song from the science of sleep... amazing.

  • Gotta love TO

  • thumbs up and a smile

  • seems like anyone could sing this, but still. i like it.

  • @Kablamvideos Lou actually said that it was so innocent and pure he couldn't possibly sing it himself. :D

  • There's a live version of Lou uploaded by NotSoVelvet. Lou's so modest about it in the intro. "The person who normally sings it... does it much better than me"

  • they use this tune in science of sleep and i never knew what the fucking song was!!!

  • ZANZIBAR!!!

  • ...oh, god; being stuck in southern california for the past ten years, i miss toronto so much. this beautiful mash-up of both the yonge street and the velvets gives me such a personal sense of kismet. i'm speechless, honestly. thanks...

  • when I hear this I cry, no idea why!

  • Toronto, I believe. Great video to a great tune.

  • I like the garage-type video with this unpolished song yet perfect "After Hours". It's dark, charming & it works.

  • gives me good feelings huhu.))))

  • What album is this on?

  • @JrLoreto84 It's on "The Velvet Undergorund"

  • i luv this, i fav

  • this is fucking beautiful. perfect video for a perfect song.

  • Bull Shit Cover from Velvet Underground

  • @QuesthunterXL they didn't cover it, they were the original performers

  • @QuesthunterXL this is a velver underground original. its the drummer singing. Lou said the song was too pure for him to sing

  • it sounds like "THE MOLDY PEACHES"!!!!!

    no!? ô.Ô

  • which VU record is this on?

  • Nul, et si vous aimez pas mon point de vue je m'en fou, j'ai le droit d'expréssion !!

  • I would have used that footage with Iggy Pop's "Passenger." Nice song though.

  • Great song

  • oh god what a beautiful song =)

  • Woah, now I know where they got that dream scene song from The Science of Sleep.

  • grovy video ^ ^

  • ah mo such a gem

  • why is this song slowed down?

  • @Zargon314 If the song is slowed or sped up, even just by 95% or 105%, YouTube or anyone else cant claim for it to be taken off.

  • Amazing song! there is a brilliant contrast between the chirpiness of the music and the darkness of the theme

  • great song

    and this band

    is beautiful .

    it's unlike anything

    on the radio these

    days THANK GOD

    everything lately is cursing

    and stoopid pop noises .

  • the city thing does feel right...

alot of VU goes with the city...

but i suppose thats how it was written sorta...

  • great song. she reminds moi of kimya dawson. but this was way before her.

  • Great song!!!

  • BRILLIANCE!!!!!!!!!

  • I LIKE IT :)

  • Indie folk 30 years before indie folk.

  • the city looks gorgeous in this video! the sam the record man made me sad though :(

  • great video, now this song always plays in my head when I'm walking around at night

  • u made the voice deeper lol

  • this song is genius...

pure expression of emotion without bells and whistles...just think about being 16 without any money

  • Perfect! Reminds me of my late-night city drives. They always make my day!

  • :) .

  • what city is this?

  • Comment removed

  • oh goodness how i love this song

  • which city is this

    beautiful video

  • toronto

  • thank you =]

  • this is Daniel Johnson -y

  • Daniel Johnston, you mean?

Thats exactly what I was thinking. I thought it was him, actually.

  • GustoHimself - I always play it in C major, though you could certainly modulate to fit your vocal range.

    C, A7, Dmin, G... etc.

  • anyone know the chords to this track?

  • so simple.....so great

  • Don't laugh, but to me this is like a piece of art,

  • All music IS art you idiot.

  • Asshole I meant how the song goes with the video of the city. Of course all music is some form of art.

  • you mean like the Jonas Brothers?

  • Yes.

    Bad art. But still art.

It's isn't hard to define you know.

  • Sounds like Robert Johnson, the godfather of rock in roll and the blues.

  • @cubyman23

    dont say dont laugh

be confident in the statement so people take it seriously

    just a tid bit,

i agree and i dont like it when people become so ignorant and ignore comments like these because people dont take them seriously

    basically

  • @cubyman23 i laughed at the fact that you said dont laugh, dont ever think of what idiots will think about this great band

  • @cubyman23 Haha so funny though!

  • @cubyman23 You're right, man

  • @cubyman23 It's not a piece of art. But I can't help it, I really, really love it just the same!

I think it's some of the completely kitchy quality of this particular tune that makes me love it so.

The way she can hardly hit a note right is so incredibly charming! ... The combination of depravity and innocence is absolutely endearing.

But you're right: It's LIKE a piece of art... to me, it is!!... '^L^,

(I've given you a Thumbs Up, Cuby!)

  • This is very Juno-ish. Not sure if that's a word but you get my drift...?

  • Maybe Juno is very Velvet-ish :)

But yeah, I know what you mean, and I agree.

  • Velvet Underground is very un-Juno-ish.

  • @zeppelinator Juno is shit. I have no problem with people learning of quality music by any means, but to compare quality music to hollywood dribble is.... I can't complete this analogy, because it's such a shitty thing to do.

  • this song is amazing!

does anyone have any suggestions for songs with the same kind of feel as this one? VU or not?

  • try do you realize?? - by the flaming lips

  • VU recorded another very similar song, I'm Sticking With You, ....(cos i'm made out of glue), sung by the same lady, drummer Mo (Maureen) Tucker.

Not sure what album it was on, but it gained great prominence over here in the UK when it was featured on a car advert. Its a great, quirky number, and well worth seeking out!

    I'm sticking with you

'cos I'm made out of glue

    Anything that you might do

    I'm gonna do too

You held up a stage coach in the rain

    And I'm doing the same

  • It's on V.U. a collection of unreleased material

  • "New York Conversation" by Lou Reed off the 'Transformer' album.

  • It's Mo Tucker singing the song. She only sings one other Velvet song, which does happen to be in Juno. However, the version of the song on their compilation album of unreleased songs called VU is better than the movie version. The song is called I'm Sticking With You.

  • torontooo

  • This video feels like a montage from a Paul Auster film. It does feel right, thank you.

  • It's their drummer.

  • the singer is a chick, it's the drummer maureen tucker

  • toronto = best place on earth other than a birthday in montreal

  • I MISS THE CITY! beautiful footage, moving song, great job! :)

  • VU's best song

i think its quite simple and pure.

tuckers voice was perfect for this.

  • Yay! Toronto! i knew i recognized the street cars

  • beautiful :)

  • i currently have this song stuck in my head. BIG TIME!

  • Yeah... I love this song... it's great!!!!....

  • city of toronto represent!

  • YE!!!!!! i was thinking that!!!! the buses gave it away!

  • I love this song :)

  • A sweet song but It's tuned very low on the guitar. I had to drop 3 notes from C just to play it on my acoustic!

  • powerful video

  • i don't think it's slower. that's the original

  • you slowed the song lol ...sounds a lil bit weird

  • YA I hear it too

  • I like the video you put with the song. Nice job.

  • this song was inspired from Lou Reed seeing a person being beaten to death in a bar i read ********

  • hey where did you read that at. this is my favorite vu song

  • in a book i found in a library , i dont remember its name but it was a dedicate velvet underground song meaning book type thing.

i also remember reading that the song "candy says" was inspired by a transexual he knew that had committed suicide

  • well id like too find that book im a big vu fan and this song always ment something to me evan if it is a sappy balld whats your favorite vu song ?

  • TrynGet TRANSFORMER by Victor Bockris. He wrote a biographie with the most far out stories and details from lou's life even beyond the stage and of course about the VU in general. Actually it reads like shit, but seriously, this guy was like counting lou's daily asswipes. And it seemed there was always something taking fire back in those days. Lou was just a loon

  • toronto!

  • One of the best VU videos I've seen.

    Thank you!

  • this is exactly why i listen to the velvet underground every time i visit Toronto.

  • love the cinematography..goes so well w/ the music.

  • Another Lou Reed gem...only a few can write 'em as good as Lou. In my opinion he's one of the handful of writers who I can actually say is 'The Real Deal'.

  • there's an italian alternative-rock band called "afterhours" that takes its name from this velvet's song

    very cool!

  • the footage really fits the song

  • would be better if it sounded like she is actually trying

  • Awesome song and the girl singing look so shy :D

  • sounds like old of montreal

  • uhh, no...old Of Montreal sounds like this, not the other way around. This song is over 40 years old!

  • I think the set would be better in some small New Zealand country town. That might just because that is what i think of. Some kind of place that seems away from the world.

  • i hope the scenes are from new york city???

how about how vulnerable she sounds....

    it's Moe...right???

  • Its in Toronto. :)

  • thx 4 ur answer... well u all say its not some little area of new york city which is kinda a shame.... if u know what i mean.

  • Yep Moe Tucker's only song in the VU catalog.

  • its kinda amazing,,cause she sounds so damn good. i wonder how much of the song is her's. did she write it,,,and they adapted it...or she suggested it, or found it written on something??? its so sweet.

  • I've heard that Lou Reed wrote the song. But it was to personal for him to sing so he let her sing it.

  • No,she also sings I'm Sticking With You and has a part in The Murder Mystery.

  • You're right, I stand corrected...

  • nope, there's also I'm Sticking With You.

  • This song is fucking lovely.

  • Was this filmed in LA?

  • TDOT represent

  • lowered the pitch, I see!

  • I think this would look better if you had some editing on it. Like, black and white with a grainy, old film look. I don't know.

  • Enjoyed your video, thanks.

  • This song dwarfs anything you'll ever hear on the Juno soundtrack. Well, beside the obvious of course.

  • it sounds like a little boy singing

  • gran canción; siempre me gustó la velvet, aunque por momentos los veo como warhol freaks pedorros inyectándose todo el día y me aburren; pero después me vuelven a gustar. no lo puedo evitar.

  • jajajaja

  • i randomly came across this,

    i think it is lovely

    lovely

    lovely

    :)

  • i really love the video, as i do Velvet Underground & many, many of their songs, as well as the one you chose to weave into a video....

you took a song that could have such obvious, banal structure of a sight applied to it, but {perhaps unintentionally}, for me anyway, you really found a humbly wonderful way to provoke the imagination & still allow the song to go forth in a very free & a very original way.

    thanks for an awesome video.

    "feels right" indeed.

    ~ PEACE
