Both codes evolved from the original version rugby which effectively was what is played as AFL these day, though AFL did take on a few of the old Sheffield rules football rules as well.

There is a big gap between Rugby Union 3rd and Rugby League 4th. Six Nations Rugby is quite big over there in England. Football will takeover Rugby Union in Wales in the Future. Its already more popular than rugby in Northern Wales

In leeds all I saw were people in the Rhinos jerseys... no Leeds United shirts. You talk to people from Hull, its either FC or KR... soccer does run a second there trust me.
