  • Dreadful! The movement is "all over the place".

When Lynn Seymour performed this it was thoracically centered. Everything evolved in waves of senuousity from a vivid solar plexus ALIVE with sensation.

This is all balletically "decorative" --- hardly Isadorean.

    Seymour was Duncan Resurrected.

  • To all those who thinks that this is mockery of Isadora's technique and style, in another video it says that Ashton was 'inspired' by Isadora to create this piece, he wasn't trying to copy her or re-create her. Anyway how can you expect anybody to accurately interpret Isadora's choreography or movements? Dancers and choreographers are all individuals.

  • @amythomas171993 same here. oh well

  • Absolutely breath-taking. My favorite ballerina performing in the style of my favorite modern dancer. Who could ask for more :)

  • There used to be a video of Lynn Seymour dancing this at the Met's 100 birthday gala.

She was the dancer this was originally made for.

It's quite different in interpretation, much earthier less airy.

I hope someone can post it.

  • It is a shame that there is so little footage of Isadora herself

  • there is actual Duncan Choreography to this music and this is not it. While a very nice effort this barely has any Duncan movement. But a nice Modern Piece.

  • I am sorry, but I just don't feel it possible to not react to this. How can you pay a tribute to someone, whom you don't know anything about? Because it is obvious that both the dancer and the choreographer have no understanding of the ideals of Isadora. And connecting your work with the name of Isadora Duncan imposes you a great responsibility.

  • so nice ! Isadora herself couldn't have done better.

  • her feet are ridiculous!!!

  • why?

  • ridiculous as in good

  • wow she is like a fire..lol

  • My dear, just try to behave yourself and refuse to imitate anyone. Tribute means whatever the creator decides. Not you. I am sure Isador would be so glad and inspired by Tamara's Spanish sense of dance. Brava Tamara.

  • mmm q bn

  • do you know where I could get Bejat's version of Isadora with Plisetskaya...it used to be on youtube...im not sure what happened

if anyone knows please tell me

    thanks

  • Wonderful!

  • Her dance is beautiful with expression, she got her own style...I still enjoy seeing other Isadora's dances...I love Isadora's dance and her art and philosophy....Enjoy!!!!

  • I don't know anything about ballet. I'm only an admirer. To me this performance is breath taking. It opens my eyes to the beauty of life. I would never have the opportunity to watch something like this with my TV. This is what I love about YouTube. Bravo. Bravo.

  • I want to be able to find this music... Could anyone help?

  • But she had a school that trained students from youth to do these "natural" moves. Isadora Duncan had technique that was demanding. I think she used the term "natural" because her dances certainly were simple and made up of natural movements -- compared to ballet or the skirt, high kick dancing. She was a woman of natural weightand her dances were designed so the arms made natural curving shapes, not broken-twig arcs that come when the dancer is skinny. Read her dance theory - very intelligent.

  • Paying tribute to Isadora does not necessarily mean resembling her. Tamara interprets it in her own style, and she is wonderful just as she is.

  • Amen!

  • Agreed, every dancer is different. I actually like Tamara's intrepretation of Isadora.

  • it is a wonderful tribute, but people-- just to point out... Tamara did not study modern dance, so no, she does not have Isadora's principles. however, i don't believe this a a mockery. Tamara worked with what she knew and what she was given. she is a prima ballerina and has been a part of several ballet companies

  • Tamara is just the dancer not the choreographer...

    and she´s wonderful

simplemente brillante, sobre todo es bailarina y ademas hacia muchos años que una bailarina española no lograba alzarse hasta la cima asi que ahora no intenteis tirarle piedras porque ha demostrado mas que de sobra que puede...

  • Ashton had seen Duncan perform when he was young and this piece is meant to convey HIS IMPRESSION of Duncan in Ashton's personal movement language.

It's not meant to be an accurate depiction of Duncan or the way she danced. Yet, when this piece appeared in the 70s, many, who still remembered Isadora's appearances in London claimed that he had indeed captured something of her essence. To sum up, it's not a documentary. It's a tribute and a wonderful one at that!

  • Yes, this was a piece choreographed by Frederick Ashton, and, I believe, first performed by Lynn Seymore. Lynn did an exquisite job on it, as Sir Frederick wanted to convey what he remembered when he saw Isadora dance....the essence of Isadora. I believe that Lynn Seymore captured that...Tamara is a lovely dancer, but is waaaaaay off the mark, in my humble opinion.

  • Just a quick note to remember to all the dance professors here around that the choreographer of this ballet is Sir Frederick Ashton (founder choreographer of the London Royal Ballet) and NOT Tamara Rojo.

  • there is real choreography that Isadora handed down to the true Duncan Dancers that is done to this music. This has nothing to do with it. Although this dancer is beautiful and moves nicely she is not in the stlye of Isadora!

  • This might be a beautiful dancer but this is NOT in the style of Isadora Duncan. This dancer makes mockery of Duncan's Art of the Dance with her exagerrated gestures and movement that does not move from the solar plexus.

  • Right on, this is absolutely NOT Duncan. She's missing the whole essence of the work.

  • thank you for posting this phenomenon piece online!!!!

  • stupenda lei!!!Ricorda un sacco la Duncan
