  • wow...what year is this

  • @stuffedicing

Trombone is actually the hardest because it is harder to move your full arm rather fingers.

  • Superb performance! I recorded the Canadian Brass doing their famous "Ballet" yesterday in Elizabethtown, PA and featured them on my YouTube site -- Stanvideo123

  • as a tuba player I must say: that is twelve different flavors of incredibly awesomeness.

  • I was expecting bees.

  • i play tuba but not that good lol :) I <3 my band teacher

  • DERP

  • this is one of the most funnist vids i had seen. haha

  • in all their vids the tuba always has the most fun.

  • That tubal-player his wife is probably the one most lucky ;)

  • Did you hear the trombone? Probably not.

  • Wow the tubal player was awsome:D i loved how he moved his fingers so fast it looked impossible but effort less

  • Chuck Daellenbach is my hero.

  • hahahaha 1:08

    THE FACE OF CONCENTRATION!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • magnificently played.

  • 9 people were stung by a bee

  • Holy fuck

  • 1:07 He is like what on earth...?

  • trombone: ha those suckers have to press buttons

trumpet guys: i can make faces while doing this!

other trumpet and horn: at least we don't get the fast part

    tuba player: fuck my fingers!

  • @stuffedicing so true!!!

  • they have to switch or their hands will get cramped like hell

  • I believe the title is Flight of the Tuba Bee or at least it is on their album.

  • i like canadian brass

  • See, You don't need a silver trumpet, Gold is the way to go! Good trumpet players, Unite! :D

  • eh it was kinda flat....

  • The tuba player look like pianist Marc-Andre Hamelin, and the French horn player looks like Prince Humperdinck from "The Princess Bride" :D

  • 1:08 "Pfffft, this is easy, I can make faces while playing this"

I love the humor in Canadian Brass's videos...:D

  • @ShinenAkuma I loled so hard when I got what you meant XD

  • Makes you proud to be Canadian. eh?

  • Tuba Rules!!!

  • dang. that was so good. man that tuba was fantastic. our tuba in our band suks >-<. but tubas really help a band and were lacking the low sound in our band. im from the waianae intermediate advanced band on oahu. we welcome everybody and hope to get some supporters. our website is waianaemarchingband.webs.com. . i play the clarinet but i also play the trumpet and am trying to play oboe. its hard. i really enjoy playing. please support us! we really try our hardest!!!

  • I thought the first guys was brushing his teeth, had to go back and see again.. o.O

  • i get the feeling this was still really easy for them

  • I'm always amazed to encounter thumbs down for performances similar to this one, i.e. technically perfect renditions of brilliant showpieces. They didn't like the tune? Then why bothering listening to it and, moreover, rating it?

OK, I get it. It lacks emooootion. Next time, pick a Chopin Nocturne or Rachmaninov's Vocalise if you're in a really bad need of rubato and gorgeous nuances.

  • The most amazing part of the song is the end where the guy does the tuba fingerings why he plays wow talent.

  • wouldja help me out with my tuba, ya hoser.

  • BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

  • If you think they are so GOOD at playing any songs !!!

    Thumbs Up ~~~

  • Man I hope i can play like that someday!! That is insane!!

  • YEAH REP CANADA!!!! CANADA FOR THE FUCKING WIN!!! im canadian btw.

    (lol slight canadian joke here)

you know canadians are good at blowing :P

  • @unholyfarter oh yeah, i know real well

  • this is insane!!!!

  • what tuba is chuck is playing?

  • we all get picked on for being band geeks. but this proves that bandies can tongue, finger and blow better than anyone

  • i hope he didnt hit the brown note there at the end

  • wow! go Canadians! Proud to be Canadian.

  • GGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEENNNNIIIIIIIIIIAAAAALLLLLLLLL!

  • there's one point where the one trumpet player goes and plays the tuba for chuck. if you watch closely, notes are still coming out but no fingers are moving

  • i bet they can type so fast...

  • the tuba finally got an interesting part

  • wow they play very good. best brass performance!

  • I like how they are taunting each other with their eyes and facial expressions!

  • The tuba mouth piece is vibrating from....tonguing...

  • wow that was amazing! 5***** Bravo!

  • he do this with perinet valve?! ... woow!

  • ESTUPENDO

  • This never gets old. :D

  • damn to the french horn!!! n the TUBA as well wow!!!!!!!!1

  • Hahaha that's freakin awesome

  • They are so pro it looks fake!! AWESOME!!!

  • r they rly playing? cause their lips arent even moving...

  • @bandlover005 One of the main features in one type of playing that many topend players use is to move the lips as little as possible. If u just relax and blow u can play really high and really low withot altering the lipposition or even move them that much. Its all about air...

Some players thou are the complete opposit and can play good anyway. Its all about what suits u best

  • We need a vuvuzela version!

  • whats the video where the guy has to give the trumpet player oxygen?

  • I realy like the tuba in it. I picture a bumble bee having a low pitched hum when it flies, so it realy is quite fitting. and also wow, to play that on a tube still impresses me.

  • @lexxraven fat bee

  • holy shite

  • most of these videos of Candian Brass isn't them playing live in the video, They record all of the instruments in studios and then they make a music video like this, and with them they try to add a little "Comedy" with the tuba player

  • @TNTTTMT its not they are really playing they just arent changing their amnoetuer because they are skilled to the point where they just have to change the air it is how most people play at this skill level and some just the oposite

  • i think this is more of a music video and not them actually playing

  • @ksmithity me too!!

  • Absolutely amazing!

  • HaHa

    Thant was awsome

  • When is this vidoe actually filmed ?

  • I remember seeing them perform this and half way through one of them said he was hurt and the guy with the beard did the fingering for the first guys instument as well as his own. Does anyone have a video of this?

  • did you notice how they don't have to stop for a breath? haha

  • dude circular breathing! :P get it now?

  • @Megatronacsbb its not circular breathing that they are doing... they are professional musicians they dont have to breath often at all... they arent playing high they are playing fast... playing fast doesnt take nearly as much air

  • Canadian Brass.... love em

  • if only it was actually them....

  • @MstislavRousseau It is them, they play individually in a studio and put it together. They remake videos to add comedy, but this them. R.I.P. FRED

  • GO EUPHONIUM AND TUBA! I am a true fan. Low brass is the best type of instrument to play.

  • They make it look so effortless........

  • @thisfreakinoneguy that is because they're not actually playing it in this video

they just wiggle their fingers for the camera

the recording was done in a studio

  • @thisfreakinoneguy good musicians always do

  • i think this band is gonna make me rip my balls off

  • euphonium ftw!!!

  • that was cool

  • May Fred Mills rest in peace

  • OMG! That is amazing!! I never heard a tuba play that before. Is that double tounging I hear out of the tuba towards the end?

  • haha most likely :P

  • thats amazing!

  • Man, Ive been looking everywhere for a French Horn arrangement for that song... Help?

  • It's my understanding that Charlie Dallenbach (tuba, here) once challenged Irish flutist, Sir James Galway, to a competition on fastest through "Flight of the Bumblebee". It is also my understanding that Charlie won.

  • Interesting story, you'll have to find a reference to it!

  • @GBJPhotoWorks where can i find him beating Sir James if its true...

  • @blueraspberry100 It is something to which the CB members used to refer in concert. I don't know if one can believe everything one hears, but the story sounded too specific to be made-up. We'll have to find Charlie and ask.

  • i watch htis and still its funny . ahh they know how to entertain and play i give them a high five for that ! :)

  • THAT WAS AWESOME!

  • Brilliant!

  • see tuba now was that so hard ?? hahahaa

  • @ultracherry55 Karla Hi lol

  • which one is Fred Mills?

  • 0:12

    That guy.

  • cool, and may I just say that that beard is fantastic!

  • The Canadian Brass have always included a bit of humor and showmanship in their act and this video is a prime example, cuminating in Fred Mills "assistance" with the fingerings. They're all just great, and Fred Mills, while no longer a member of the group, will be missed by all brass players.

  • It wasn't Fred Mills who helped with the fingerings it was Ron Romm.

  • That's not Fred assisting with the fingerings, that's Ronald Romm. Fred Mills (R.I.P.) is the other trumpet player.

  • Where the tuba valves are positioned makes it much harder as he can't arch his fingers and strike down the valves, instead having to push them 'flat-fingered'. Much harder, I would've thought?

  • imagine how hard that is, with no valves pressed on a tuba, you are blowing through 16 feet of air, imagine blowing that much air through 16 feet that fast

  • It's not actually the air you are blowing through that quick or else the instrument would be impossible to play. It is the sound that is moving through the instrument. If you don't think I am correct, go to a brass player and tell them to just blow through their instrument and not buzz, all you will get is one short spurt of air.

  • oh my god, excuse my putting it in laymans terms, now, im not expert on the physics of tuba, but i do play in a brass quintet as the tuba, so get off your high horse

  • Your not the only person in the world who plays the instrument, I play in a brass band, and for that you would need significant amounts of air, more then required for a quintet.

  • Cudos, I'll give you that one. Lets just agree that it is a great instrument and either way you need lost of, something... to play it

  • RIP FRED MILLS

He died this morning. Thanks for the amazing performances and thanks for inspiring many young musicians to explore their talents.

  • Its so sad that he died in a car crash. My band director was upset when he heard the news because Fred Mills taught him at UGA a while back.

  • AMAZING!

Much better (altho different) than Wynton's and he might be considered the best. It's gonna be much harder to do this on Tuba then trumpet -and crossing over from one player to the next is another challenge altogether.

    Wow.

(And people -it's a music video, not a live concert -ever heard of this? haha)

  • dammn brass playas on this song thats crazy

  • they are so cute!!!

  • amazing

  • oh don't get me wrong, they may have played it and if they didn't, whoever did is very talented. i just find their facial expressions look a tad bit off

  • almost all music videos are pre-recorded and then played over with a tape.. i doubt their budget as well as physical constraints of having enough room would have let them bring out the 9 or 10 different cameras they would have needed to get this all in one shot..

  • im not talking about the "camera angles/ shots" thing their facial expressions look off for playing flight of the bumblebee

  • yes, what i mean is that they aren't actually playing in the video, and the way it is directed is evidence because it wouldn't be possible to record them in this setting live like that.. it really is them playing in the audio, but it is an overlay. their facial expressions in the filming session are visual only, and they probably had multiple takes to work on their funny expressions

  • was it supposed to be funny?

  • yeah but i highly doubt it, check out there other videos and youll come to see that they are this good

  • But even if it was fake, SOMEONE had to have played it.

  • thats so cool

  • Canadian brass is indeed a band of very talented musicians.

  • looks a tad painful

  • Sweet Yaweh and Moses above. I played the Stars and Stripes Piccolo solo on the tuba for a concert, and I thought THAT was hard. (Although I have always known this piece, it amazes me every time.) That's nothing compared to this monstrosity. (The Russians seem to always have a lot of really good composers.)

  • Soplan lindo los muchachos

  • that is an insanly hard song on any instrimint

  • i saw a vid of a euphonium player SOLOING this piece!! blew my fucking mind

  • David Childs, eh?

  • Wooow, this is absolutely awesome. XD It would take quite a while to get that perfectly like these guys.. They have mad skill.

  • queguay esta la cancion . Es mi video favorito.

  • i can imagine like afterwards they scream "fingeeeer craaaaamp" but wow thats really really good =D

  • God...I played the tuba..And i've got to say...I think i'll pass out half way through that.....

  • superb! Especially considering they're brass instruments, to get it to sound like that! sweet!

  • wow that takes some skill right there

  • THE FINGERS! THEY BURN!

  • holy crap

  • if I were playing tuba and a trumpet player tried to play it, I'd kick his brass...

  • Hah!

    That was Punny

  • omg! this vid is so funny nice just nice

  • rofl at trumpet at 1:09ish XD

  • hahaha yeah es rudo el de la tuba!!!!!!! no ma se rifa bien chido hahahaha

  • They Look Like Their Not Getting Paid... LOL, They sound wonderful!

  • Cool!!

    Great job Tuba

  • Is it me, or does the tuba player look like Ronnie Corbett?

  • hehehe, tuba gets tired lol, never done that stunt...

  • the tuba guy looks funny

  • That tuba is boomin!

  • wow! =D

  • lol, such expressive eye rolling! wow! lol, this is great!

  • lol @ 0:43 *rolls eyes*

  • very nice. it is perfect if u dont look at the screen. they just acted like funny but remember that they are pro

  • cool!I love it~

  • the endings my favorite!

  • DANG!! That how you play!

  • cool professional

  • LOL

  • As a tuba player I find that hilarious that the trumpet player had to help out...LOL

  • towards the end where the trumpeter helps the tuba is funny XD

although whole thing is funny cause the facial expressions... .-.

    well... to me atleast...

  • that's Ronnie Romm lol. He's so funny
