are you sure? according to the rulebook of that competition, there is no test about making coffee. the tests are still simpler, for instance, finding and identifying objects and persons. in the final, the teams can show whatever they like.
@sereg179 The rulebook says: "the specific tasks must not be solved using open loop control". Such a sentence is unnecessary in a foreign environment.
If the comittee wanted to prevent cheating, they should build it into the test, and not into the documentation. But their premise seems to be "Safety first!", and that means to prevent the development of machines that will be able to learn.
@iweweewg The organisators cheat because the audience believes in their lies. What happens if they change the test? If the robots are forced to perform their task, for example making a cup of coffee, in a foreign kitchen which they never were before, using unfamiliar equipment they have never used before, then they will fail.
This cannot be solved by programmers, it has to be solved by learning and therefore by brain engineers.

Well, 1 % breakfast ... and 99 % show.
The kitchen is no place for programmers.

@wlorenz65 There is no place that's not a place for programmers. At least not according to programmers...
