  • 3:07 whats the song?

  • @REPOMAN24722 its Moby - Porcelin

  • @rally240 i think lol

  • american<europe<japan just my opinion. otheray eu and jap cars are equal, own preference

  • Yea...I agree with him, never really liked Japanese cars all that much. They never make me look twice at them. Boring exterior and Boring interior. Mazda and Scion tc and Mitsubishi are the only three imo that look good. Even then not all Japanese cars are reliable mostly Toyota and Honda, this from consumer reports. As for Nissan 350z looks like it's trying to copy a Porsche. Some European cars are ugly like Renaults but in General they excel in aesthetics.

  • JAPANESE COMPANY'S MAKE THE BEST CARS ON THE PLANET PERIOD.

  • I have a Mitsubishi Starion ^_^

  • i could not disagree more with Clarkson in this case. EVERY car has soul no matter how shitty or great. Each car is unique, it grows on you as the years go by. No car has soul, its you, the driver, that breathes life into the car.

    come at me

  • Clarkson here really needs to get his facts right. The RX7 shape has been about since 1978. 944 was only about in 1982...

  • @R33Racer

And the Porsche 944s design was carried over from the Porsche 924, which debuted in 1976 and whose design was crafted back in the earlier 1970s.

  • @cawimmer430, Ah yeah that is true...

  • Well of course these cars look and feel European. Japan was trying to sell to American and European markets, so why would they design their cars to be completely unfamiliar to those people? Use your brain kiddies, its called business. Introduce unfamiliar product = product fail. Why do you think America doesn't sell huge gas guzzlers in certain countries? Why do you think the Fiat 500 was a complete FAIL in America. If you are under 21, please don't post opinions on the internet.

  • all those cars look nothing like the european cars mentioned.... european cars are hideous pieces of shit, why would japan (or anyone) want to copy them?

  • sounds to me like jeremy's jealous of japanese car's superiority

  • jeremy noob, talk about european copies of japonese cars also!! noob.

  • japanese cars better than european cars! PERIOD!!

  • Here's the difference Jezzer...

    The Japanese cars actually run.

  • @1999CSVT as if german cars don't

  • @FantastyckplastycK

Sure they do. For a mint. Compare the cost of ownership for a ten year old Lexus LS430 to a ten year old Mercedes S500.

  • LOL I WANT THE SCOOTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it is true! D; my MR2=poor mans ferrari

  • " Just savour the awfulness" ...we have to live with every new Japanese or Korean car launched here in India.....Hope one day we learn to outweigh Japanese mass production philosphy with aesthetic and classy designs.

  • some american cars are good too, the honda insight @ the begging is a really cheap rip off of the general motors EV1. basically the Japanese is trying to steal ideas from everyone else too. those yellow belly bastards have no talent in cars, they are so desperate...

P.S. my mom's corolla is like a GINGER!!! NO HEART OR SOUL!!!!!

  • LOL this is amazing more girls having a bitch ahhaahahahahah. which makes me wonder. Lamborghini Diablo and 300Zx have same head lights.. 300zx was made earlier wait lamborghini did buy the headlights off nissan HAH. koeniggsegg has veryyy similiar looking lights to the FD Rx- ow wait they did buy that off mazda too AHAHAH.

  • Well, if Japanese manufacturers are where they are is for a reason, and there are a bunch....as for English manufacturer, how many can you count worldwide compared to the Japanese...

  • Doesn't this argument remind about Hyundai a few years back?

I love it when history repeats itself, lol.

  • Renault killed Nissan

  • is this not Top Gear?

  • i only have 4 words to say: MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE AND FTO!

  • @Sasori327 fto sucks balls

  • @cro508 your dad sucks balls. u never driven an fto

  • Did he call just the NSX boring? Would like to hear Clarkson comment on this Video now, since he's driven the Lexus LFA and Nissan GT-R

  • @7ohnnyLG Yeah it's ridiculous, the NSX was just as if not more advanced than any European or American car at the time it was released......the people's supercar....a quite original concept. Japanese cars practically ooze heart and soul.......the Nissan Z series, Nissan Skyline/GT-R, Toyota Celica, Toyota Supra, Toyota MR-2, Mazda RX-7 & RX-8, Mazda Miata. I mean come on, Japan has SOUL!!!!

  • @Arqera I think you'll find korea has seoul ;)

  • Haha, it's funny because European and American manufacturers are on the decline whereas the Asian market is growing. As other users have pointed out, he's conveniently missed a whole bunch of Japanese models that are original concepts and damn good with it. Moral of the story: Every country makes good and bad cars.

  • that's the same case here in the states, our cars are just as reliable as theirs and our cars have a soul

  • 67 people have sand in their vaginas

  • fuck you,you are just a patriot of the european cars idiot, the japs cars are so much better.back in the 70s the japanese companies startet and crushed everybodys ass!!

  • Buy a american car. So when they break, you can poor your heart and soul into it.

  • lol, renault clio, peugeot 306 and closing with a Rover 75 as examples of cars with soul? What a fuck head.

  • In the 80's, Isuzu was tied with Lotus, and that is why my 86 P'up has torsion bars and front stabilizers!

  • I have a G35x - no matter how "mass production feel" it might have - i love it. Beats a crap out of 3-series BMW (speed and reliability wise) for a lot less money. Also, it looks good, comfortable and has all the toys i need.

  • @bathellfire That car looks like shit matey :-( You would be better off with 350Z

  • ohhh the GTR 2011 is boring? the old NSX is boring the new LF-A IS BORING?

    clarkson is a asshole

  • @FEGTTTSDH but he was right- in those days, almost all japanese cars were unimaginative and boring. he has since publically changed his mind about japanese cars. i dont agree with him about the nsx, though.

  • @CourthouseSquare1 yes but the older japonese car are extremaly reliable and fast

  • OK. The old car japonese are copies but improved in all aspects

"Buy an european car" Why? much more expensive and more slow, unreliable, ugly and more more expensive. Which is the alternative a old toyota supra RZ with 330hp and high reability

  • OK. The old car japonese are copies but improved in all aspects

  • this clip was taken entirely out of context.... you guys need to see his entire series. He spends a whole hour discussing the Evos and godzillas, and the rest of the clip was about how Japan took over the automotive world and how they're gonna fail to keep hold of it.

  • If James Brown and Aretha Franklin had sex in the back of a 1975 Ford LTD and than gave birth to a child on the Soul Train stage while Curtis Mayfield was preforming Superfly. My "87 Acura Integra would still have more soul.

  • few of the best value for money car with good performance and price ratio are from japan. Toyota supra, Mitsubishi Evo, Subara WRX, and of course Nissan GTR (Godzilla)

  • Is that why they are better in almost every aspect now?

  • I'll take an affordable easy to service Japanese car over an expensive pretentious German car made in mexico any day.

  • 41 people have their heads up their asses.

  • Can anybody tell me why the Toyota 2000 GT is boring???

Jeremy the BBC boffins are paying you well, huh?

  • Jeremy is confused: what he want to say is that chinese cars are "heartless copies"...

  • Japanese Cars don't deserve shit talk. I'm not saying Toyota and Nissan are the best or they rape American and european cars, (maybe they do) but there is a LOT of innovating and solid builds coming from Japan and the're are plenty of Japanese cars with soul. Many without soul, ok, But...Other cars ALWAYS have "soul"? WTF Jeremy

  • oh fuck you clarkson! take your fuckin head out of your ass, how come he didnt say anything about the Toyota Supra or any Honda's? he forgot to mention "Godzilla" Nissan's Skyline GT-R was made by japanese designers and engineers not some stupid short french dude, Evo? STi? anyone of those cars is worth more than any fuckin English car. i would give them Aston Martin but theyre owned by some fuckin towel head in Dubai xD

  • i think ive got old before my time im in that stage of muscle audi's not so much the little hot hatch golf, mx-5's rover tomcat coupe's. The only problem which the fun roadsters is that you cant relax in them nor with the hot hatch cars. Its more a 5 min thrill machine but full of fatigue. Its nice to own a car that has a bit of all the things a car should have, fun, performance, prestige and easy on the eye and grown up.

  • hes right back then they really try to be like the world, but i think theyve improved a lot since then...

  • you can't say anthing about that beautiful 2000gt at 1:29 or the 3rd gen rx7 or any of the skylines, or old datsuns or the 300zx or the celicas and supras.

  • what is that car at 1:29-1:30? Is it a 2000gt or some old datsun i really can't tell.

  • cars are a mode of transport. there is no soul needed. japanese cars are reliable and cheaper .

  • skyline evo impreza fd rx7 fto eclipse 3000gt new mx5 350z silvia rx8 civic nsx integra mrs none of these, including some more werent copied from europe
  • European people always get their panties in a bunch when another country makes somthing better than they did. Dipshits!

  • Whatever. Anyone would expect a BMW or Mercedes to be faultless at least during the warranty period...any mechanic will tell you about the huge amount of warranty claims on Euro brands. I wish i had a dollar for every time I here a workmate or friends tell me about there first experience buying cars such as BMW X3, Mercedes B class or a Mini and there constant problems. They simply can't match the consistent quality levels coming from Japanese factories

  • I came here only to dislike this video.

  • Jap cars are the best, i couldnt care if there "boring" my 190 bhp corolla t sport is anything but boring

  • euro cars are trash. they fall apart. electrical fails. ugly as sin (except for super cars).

    Sooooo ugly

  • @49Shortvid so true ,i agree 100%

  • whats the name of the song 2:47

  • @shaneoex

    Porcelain by Moby

  • i normally like clarkson and his shows...but this is just rubbish and simply not true...he just doesn't like japanese cars...or he just didnt like them...the new episodes of top gear say something different

  • Ever drove a 68-73 Datsun 510 it not a soulless car.it has SOUL!!The Mazda Miata is not a boring car however, the Miata is designed in California by an American name Robert Hall.

  • which european car can get 190bhp from 1.8 litre engine without a turbo or supercharger. thats 100bhp from a litre in celica vvtli. one of the nicest lookin 4 cylinder coupe in the world.

  • @realfizzy Which Japanese car is actually pleasant from the inside?

  • @luuzeri Most of them, WHY

  • @realfizzy let's see you after an accident, or let's see you walk properly after a long ride ;) dude japanese cars are rubbish

  • @shaheeneyal Had an accident with a pevgeot corner to corner and im still walking thanx to the crumple zones in my japanese coupe.

  • the 240z looks way better than any jag

  • More biased, unfounded rambling. European cars suck, most consumers have already figured that out by now. Don't fucking talk if you offer shit cars, the only good cars with attitude and efficiency, style and practicality are the Japanese cars. American cars, petrol sucking tin cans and European cars, beautiful but unreliable, they don't have the same comfort as my Mazda. Toyota shits all over Euro cars, so think before talking shit about copying, cunt.

  • @gyaradosgengar You'd be happy to know that Mazda cars have a lot in common with Fords, e.g. engines, interiors, etc...

  • @efusiongaming And yet they don't share the reputation of being money sucking oil guzzlers like the Americans. Haha, face it, Japanese cars are by far the most popular world wide, so enjoy your worthless, inefficient Euro cars and I'll enjoy my much more practical, faithful Japanese car.

  • @gyaradosgengar European Fords are highly praised as economical and very reliable! I grew up with a Ford Fiesta (also copied by Mazda for its 121 model in 1996). Don't generalize, Japanese cars and Euro cars are all the same shizzy, plus, most Japanese companies are currently owned by the Europeans, and often trade engineering knowlegde, so when it comes down to it, only the Volkswagen Group works alone, and still makes very reliable cars, like the ones from the Skoda marque.

  • omg euro fanboys find any peice of crap to think theyre better than people who dont drive euro grow up

  • heartless? ok cunt what do ya call the RX-8 or the Shinari, 350Z, FT-86 ,Supra and the FTO? stop being racist just cause you're eurpean, both asians and europeans make good cars ok

  • @Sasori327 sti,evo,si,300zx,starlet,240sx,pulsar gti,se-r,celica,mr2,lfa, and so on all copies right lol

  • @dcin1 how is the evo, 300ZX, Sti and celica copies huh?

  • @Sasori327 lol im just adding onto the guy above me already long list of japan legends

  • the rx7 is different though, when it was made everyone had given up on rotaries

  • what song is that in the end?

  • nsx copied ferrari (mid engine, rearwheeldrive)

and the rx-7 is the most heartless copy ever not only copying the porsche look but using a german engine.

OH YEAH HEY SUBARU WERE DID YOU GET THAT ENGINE?

so if your a follower and copier buy a japanese car.

the only good one was a gt-r and they weren't even sold in america. (how stupid)

  • This whole argument is stupid. Why can't people accept a good car as a good car and forget about its origin. I love the FC RX-7 and the AW11 MR2 just as much as I love the Marcos 1800, the mercedes 190E and the Lancia stratos. A good car is a good car, and real enthusiasts don't give a crap where it was made.

  • @MCChase a good car is only down to the person who owns it. You can buy a alfa, lancia or any of the more wallet ache cars and still end up with something that tinkers on for a couple of 6 digit turns of the miles counter. Any car that is treated well, serviced and driven correctly should give good ownership.

  • @23chilled

I agree, I never said i didn't. I fail to understand your point here?

  • @MCChase nither do i, i go on about some random sh** sometimes it amazes me what comes out my mouth

  • @MCChase real enthusiasts, wont buy japanese cars most times. why? because they want a car with soul a cars that is MORE than just a machine and im sorry but i havent seen a japanese care that would make you feel like its MORE than just a machine. also nobody likes fakes no matter how good they are. i ALWAYS have to argue my point with my alfa. everyone here calls it a piece of crap. but even though unreliable. my car is special. it makes me feel special, it makes me feel like it is special.

  • @galbmw So by your logic, whichever car came first is real, and everything after is a fake. Real enthusiasts appreciate a good car, no matter where it is from, no matter if it may or may not be "fake" or not. I wouldn't call the Chevy Camaro fake since it's designed to compete with the Ford Mustang, right? No, I'd call it an alternative.

  • @AhAhA747 nah you didn't understand me. taking someone else's designs isn't right. it never was and never will.

  • @galbmw It isn't right. Yet the only cars I see that are actually blatant ripoffs of another are Chinese cars.

  • @AhAhA747 nah not all some jap cars to steal shapes. but like clarkson says mabe its because of what you get when they dont lol. for example toyota aygo. but then again Nissan GTR and Lexus LFA were designed by japanese FOR japanese taste and fuck they look good

  • @galbmw That, I can agree on. But those are pretty expensive cars, and I prefer the older GT-Rs over the new one. But yes, good-looking indeed.

  • @AhAhA747 yea burt they are hand mande and all. to me the R32 GTR was the best.

  • @galbmw Both the R32 and R34 were sick looking cars, my preference is the R34, but I have seen the R32 in person and it is a nice car. The R33 is the least favorite of mine, but nonetheless a great car as well.

  • @AhAhA747 where i live there is WAY too many R33's very little R34's and an ok amount of 32's i HATE the look of 34 but its a good car. look wise for me 32 is the best

  • @galbmw Out here in the U.S., it's (obviously) very rare to spot a GT-R save for the R35. I've only seen 1 R32 GT-R for sale at a dealership and an R33 at a car show. I only know of one R34, the owner of the dealership I mentioned drives it.

  • @AhAhA747 come to australia... before i came here i loved Skylines, now i sorta hate them just because there is SO MANY of them. i live the looks and the way they go but they are SO overhyped here its not funny lol.

  • @galbmw That's kind of how I feel about the new GT-R today, it's a great car but really its overrated. At least with the older generation, there's a stick shift and less computers that make the driver feel like a driver, and not feel like he's driving a 485HP PS3.

  • @AhAhA747 yea thats true. my alfa is paddleshift and its great on track. but in traffic it gets VERY annoying. i DO have a stick i can shift with just not a clutch

  • @MCChase Amen brother

  • The RX-7 had a rotary engine, to this day it shares that feature with absolutely nothing, that I'm aware of. I don't care if it's even a good engine, I'd get one just for that, so many cars today are just rehashes of something else, even use the same bodies and parts.

  • @DMtactical Mazda weren't the first or only car makers to use a Rotary engine.

  • @te71se Of course not. But it's still one of the most unique engines out there, especially on today's market.

  • Whatta bullshit

  • japenese cars = fail

  • listening to the newest CLOWN in town.

  • Correct but out dated video. Old Rx7 was a copy what about the very last one?

Lexus LS was a copy of Mercedes S class(BS imo) what about the newest?

They were a copy but not anymore. Look at the CRZ, and try a pick a single feature that copies the europeans.

  • The Nissan Cube is definitely not a heartless copy :P

  • @vaiol123 no, it's a heartless box =)))))

  • Great video.

  • I've had ENOUGH of European cars! To Euro manufactures - ...how...hard...is...it... to make a car that works properly without some stupid little problem? Euro buyers are usually embarrassed to talk about various problems with there new car because a new car should not have problems...the Japanese seem to understand this...are you listening BMW, Mercedes?? Just hopeless

  • nissan skylines, mazda rx7s and honda nsxs are NOT heartless copies.....

  • "We've taken away their only advantage."

OMFG c'mon, I enjoy top gear as much as anyone but that is just plain bullshiat. The Europeans have craftsmanship, everyone knows that... but they don't have RELIABILITY, which is what the Japanese have and will always have. They know how to give rebirth to their industries, whereas Europeans and Americans are still stuck on Jaguar XK's and Ford Mustangs. No sun setting anytime soon let me tell you...

  • zi hope for the good of humanity that Jeremy Clarkson does not reproduce.

"A car made just for you."

My BMW gave me hell. Least reliable car ever. If it was made just for me, it was not a gift. It was a curse.

  • Yeah, the Prius is a real copy of... oh no, right everybody is copyingthe Prius right now...

  • @wmsenna who cares about the prius? its not environmentally friendly if you take into consideration what it takes to produce its batteries! and it aint cheap to run if you take into consideration what the batteries cost to replace every 6 years! Europens use clean Diesel power.... maybe japs should learn a thing or two from them ;)

  • And now the Koreans are trying to copy the Japanese who took cues from the Europeans. And of course all 3 are bitching at American cars and their handling. >.>

  • Jap cars try to compete with the europeans which is not the same as copying

  • I love my RSX, it doesn't copy other automakers

  • 2:07 Just savour the awfulness, lol.

  • Their Land Rovers running and unlocked in the hope that some poor shmuck will steal it.

  • I never thought I'd be saying this, but FUCK YOU CLARKSON YOU POMPOUS BRIT! So the Japanese take inspiration from other countries, but they take something that was not preticularly brilliant, like british build quality, and make something that is better. Mazda has sold 800,000+ Miata MX-5, and most will cover the distance to the moon and back without a single problem, unlike an Elan. The MR2 was the best small mid engined car Ferrari never built. I've also heard stories of people leaving....

  • Love Top Gear, but this is an opinionated and outdated. No need for commenting, because Japanese car makers have obviously showed up this old Clarkson clip.

  • Woooow it aint the Japanese! It's the Chinese who makes copies

  • wow japan makes cheaper and better cars and people call them copies

  • yaris caris gayis

buy american! and buy european the REAL car makers!

    btw. 3:30 james hey? hmmm

  • lmao....rx7 copy of a 944 ? lol...its just the same category, not looks

also it has a wankel engine...an engine that japan got from EUROPE and made it WORK lol.....

Japanese cars are perfect in "aerodynamics, fuel efficiency, technology, reliability, tuning, handling, price...wtf ?

  • The lexus was bigger cheaper and more luxurious than the merc. The rx7 was rotary and was made before the 944. (not that gen tho) Japanese copy, but they make it better than original.

  • what is the music at 0:47 ?

  • They just take good cars... and make them better :D Now that's merchendise :)

Just like Watt did with the Steammachine!!!!!! :@ And see how the world looks like now :)

  • im not saying all japanese cars are crap though, i quite like a few myself. i even own one. its the owners and the idiots who know nothing about cars who say this and that without ever taking second thought.

  • when it comes to reliability it is how you treat your car. my camaro is old but still like brand new and has never EVER had any problems... not a joke. my dads land cruiser died completely and horribly at a young age of 200k miles... he never took care of it while i cleaned mine ever day and maintained and replaced every part as suggested. if you are the kinda person who buys a car to use and then throw away like trash buy Japanese. if not buy something with passion and take care of it.

  • Japanese things have little heart and soul, I agree on that one.

  • Everthings start from copying.

  • Something German or something Jappanees

They never let you down ;)

If you have the money for a second car,

then you might as well buy a wonderful peace of design from Italy. ;)

    Ow yeah.

    indeed:

the fascist may have lost the war,

but they goddam know how to build an amazing car. ;)

General Motors can learn sth from them ;)

  • How come a LS400 is a copy of a mercedes, doesnt even looks like a merc at all

  • jeremy is full of shit.. he will say what he is paid to say.. one day he will praise japanese vehicles.. the next day he will be talking shit about them..

  • lol look at Japanese cars now... silly Europeans.

  • yeah, still made of tin and low grade plastic

  • What is the grey car at 1:30?

  • do you mean the sport car or the jeep the sports car is a 2000gt toyota old school jdm and jeep is a pajero

  • toyota 2000gt

  • all i have to say is this guy is a fucking dumbass! but i respect his opinion ...of being a dumbass! JDM! ^_^

  • Japanese cars are reliable and that is their biggest feature. I can see how a car can have some sort of personality or feel, but honestly, if you put so much emphasis on that a car has a personality, I think that simply testifies that you have a lack of friends.

  • It certainly is true that the Japanese build the best cars in the world in terms of build quality, but he is right that they don't have the personality of European cars. It's probably the Germans who have got the best of both worlds.

  • The original Skyline GT-R from 1970 is no copy, I'll tell you that much. I've NEVER seen a car as good looking as that.

And Jeremy is forgetting that he once praised the R32~34 Skylines for being "robustuous and playful".

  • @zildjian6a the "yaris estate" was copied by FIAT...lol and they also forgot the honda 600...the crx, the subaru impreza and mitsubishi evo...some others too, but too lazy to name...

  • @zildjian6a Diarrhea is better looking than a 1970 Skyline.

  • @straightedge442 you sir have a poor taste in design

  • @zildjian6a But it still looks like shit. A playstation is fun, yet not pretty, same thing with the skyline.

  • @zildjian6a i agree,and toyota supra,never seen anything like that,the mazda rx7 and many others...

  • @zildjian6a actially..lancia made one in 67 very similar

  • the toyota carina 2 isnt a heartless copie is a brilliant car and it isnt copied off of anything

  • they still don't make reliable cars...and gm and ford only bought a stake in isuzu and mazda respectively..and renault has a 44% share in nissan..

  • And b4 anyone asks;

Last of the Supra's, first of the Mini's & the Aussie XY Falcon!

  • Bullshit Clarkson, bullshit

You just want everyone to make a car that follows the Euro, no, ur Euro mindset of what a car should be...as usual

Every time I here u say how bland a top model Jap car looks like on the inside & how refined a Euro car is on the inside, I see a Jap car that has an interior that is like a dignified woman who doesn't need makeup to convey her beauty, while all those Euro cars u say have beautiful, refined interiors just look like a tinselled up Hooker

    Such eye sores

  • Your such a Sedgewick, i suspect your at least 45-1000000 years old.

mercefully What you say is wrong.

  • Just say what you're really thinking dude, which is "Merc's rule!"

Good design is ageless, anyone whom isn't limited by there worship over a single badge would know that & its ironic that you state age, seeing as Clarkson's mindset derives from the vintage Euro-concept of appealing, which did look great on vintage cars, so unless the entire design is retro, though that fails more often than not anyway, it simply looks cheap, out of place i.e. wrong.

  • the nissan micra doesnt look jack shit like the mini. It looks more like VW golf instead.

  • oh the same old whos dominent in auto tecnology the europeans just cant admitt the fact that jap and korean cars are more well sought out and make more sales...

just because european car companies want to remain dominent in europe thats why demonize the japs...... fall of the west rize of the east admitt it.

  • well, the only copy cats i know is china...

  • So what did they copy???The Datsun180b was like no british car lol

  • Jap cars still way better, They copy cars early on, Datsun 180b vs ford cortina I had both cars, The Cortina heap of junk, the 180b I love it got me to work ,could not kill the moter ,a heater that worked!!.I spent so much money and time on the cortina to keep it going. But the best thing the cortina had that the 180b didnt was that the cortina had a self destrucked it went on fire,it had a push join for the fuel line into the carb which was Knowen to pop out and spray fuel all over the hot moter

  • So subaru impreza is a copy of what?

So Lancer evo is a copy of what?

SO Nissan GTR is a copy of what?

  • European cars that couldnt do as well.

  • @antiLeixo

I dunno maybe those AWD rally cars from the Group B days? Take a basic production car and make it fast?

    Oh yeah.
