  • is rooting safe

  • 2.04 didn't work. cmd ran but I got a failed message or device not found or an error every time a command line ran. Is ADB needed to run that? I thought this was supposed to be a one-click (read: easy) method? I tried version 2.06, nothing. ran it multiple times. installed the latest drivers, rebooted the phone, tried again. nothing. no superuser access.

  • it says Bootloader 2c.7c and battery ok ok to program transfermode USp but nothing has happend yet nol stayed the same

  • @redsoxfan7111 If you get stuck in the bootloader screen pull the battery and give it a minute, then put it back in and turn your Droid on then retry rooting :)

  • Does not work on my windows 7 64bit. Just get error messages about 7-zip and can't find the path.

  • @tonymartindale It works with my Windows 7 64-bit fine, which version did you use? Try 1.8rA or 2.04 if you still have issues :)

  • @RDKamikaze Hi, I tried 2.06 and 2.04. With 2.06 I just get messages saying Non 7zip archive and with 2.04 I get Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to assess the items.

I ran this as an administrator so I have no idea what it means.

  • how do you unroot?

  • Hey once I followed all of the instructions for downloading the Root 2.01 Beta and have the superuser installed in my apps, what else do I need to do to have full access to my phone and be able to download any applications for free????

  • @bryx0103 Rooting your Droid isn't intended to let you download apps for free (it's not jailbreaking like the iphone). Rooting gives you root access to your Droid so you can do thing like overclock, increase battery life with a new kernel, backup your Droid, change bootloading symbols, custom ROMS, etc.

  • @RDKamikaze I know there are ways to get the droid to do what i want like switch it to be running a different phones software and all that just like jail breaking, do you know how I can do that?

  • So does this work on MOTO DROID with 2.2 Firmware?

  • @jonbtrini Yes it will even with the newest version of 2.2 which is FRG22D :)

  • Yo its saying i dont have permission? wtf?

  • @DevoidOfN2O Which phone are you using and which firmware? This is only for the Droid 1 (as in Verizon's first Droid phone) and also, which version of Soup or Root are you using? Try 1.8rA or the latest 2.06 Beta :)

  • can u do this on a mac?

  • @Kaosilation666 No mac support at this time, sorry.

  • Is there any way to root the droid x the EASIEST WAY?

  • Does it work for the Droid x 2.2 official froyo

  • @j3ss3100 Droid 1 only, sorry.

  • its telling me device not found

  • @mwain91 Is your Droid plugged into your computer with USB Debugging on? Which version are you trying, get 2.04 if you don't have it yet.

  • @JG16778 The only unroot option I know is by flashing the stock ROM with RSD Lite. If there ever is an unroot option through ADB shell, I'll be happy to create that option!! :D

  • Will this work with lesser versions of android? I.E. 1.6 on the motorola cliq XT?

  • @zeebull It will work with lesser versions of Android as well, BUT it's still only for the Droid 1. The cliq has different programming that must be done, sorry.

  • I just downloaded version 2.04. Is this the newest version to use?

  • @bflores05 Yes, I just barely release 2.04 yesterday as I had some issues come up where I couldn't develop for a while until then. Enjoy!! :D

  • okay is super user able to be used on this? and how would i unroot if needed?

  • @Tofoocheese Yes, superuser is installed as part of the rotting process :)

  • @RDKamikaze alright it didnt work for me i ended up finding the commands and that did the trick. is there anyway to unroot in case of issues without flashing your phone with rsd lite back to stock?

  • @Tofoocheese It doesn't work for everyone on rooting, I'm not sure why (or you have to try it multiple times and it will work).

As for unrooting, the only thing I know is the RSDLite method, sorry.

  • every time i run 2.03 it just installs again i tried running every firmware program and not rooted

  • @Brago750 What do you mean by "it just installs again?" Have you installed the Motorola drivers (first question) yet? If t, you have to do that. Send me a personal message on youtube or androidforums and I'll help you there :)

I'm working on a new revision right now, 2.03 featured sending debug information to my email but it seems to be causing issues for some people, so I might take it off. The upside is that it gives me a lot of great information as to what steps are/aren't working! :)

  • will this work on moto droid running stock 2.2 i have 1.8 version

  • @Brago750 Yes, that's what froyo is :) Froyo is a new term for Android 2.2 firmware.

  • when i try to run the program a terminal pops up not the page that says "Root me"

  • @blehblehblahblahbleh Try to download Version 2.04, it's new as of a couple days ago. That one should work for you :)
