  • Great view at 0:48 hehehe this is fun :) besides getting hit on the head, This is worth it :)

  • this is why i'm crazy about poi!!

  • good video!

    i enjoyed it.

    :)

and the lady at the beginnin of the video is ridiculously attractive.

    :b

ohh and so are you nick!

    ;)

    haha

  • i don't even remember how i learnt to do butterfly behind my head... i think i just did it one day, haha.

i'm still trying to get the hang of behind the back, way harder.

  • im training less and less, i wish i got the addiction back. i miss the retreat it used to give me..

  • Watch some videos of nick, yuta and all the other greats spinning!

    Inspiration and all that :o)

  • Your freedom of movement is amazing. I have to admit, opposites are probably the weakest party of my spinning

  • nice vid dude =] just one noobish problem...

what the diffeance between butterflys and opposites?

ooh and also do you have any all btb stuff?

like.. the poi always stay btb but you move your arms around...

annnd last thing.. how do i make ronans poi?

off topic i know. but its been bugging me for ages now hehehe!

    keep the world spinning! =]

    hugs!

  • butterfly is a pattern type formed by either same time or simultaneous swings at the same focal point. Opposites in general, are just swings that oppose each other.

I'm not sure as the exact components for ronan's poi, but its 2 stage balls, thick climbing rope and type counter weights.

  • ok so for opposites its a buttfly, except the center point is split with your arms split.

if you get what i mean.

yeah, me n goldie figured out ronans poi.

we guesse there made with stage balls, some form on threaded rope as for the counter weight...

i think its a modified rubber counter weight like off yoyo's

    cheers tho dude!!

    keep the world spininng =D

  • Sorta. Just that the butterfly is the name given to the pattern that is formed when you put your hands together while spinning opposites.

If you were to separate your hands in any capacity while doing opposites, does the butterfly still remain? Or is the pattern something else entirely?

    See what I'm saying?

  • To me, butterfly is opposites when you put your hands together. That's when it looks like a butterfly. As soon as you separate your hands it's just opposites.

Yes, Ronan's poi are stage balls, climbing rope, and actually the knobss from the ends of juggling clubs.

  • What Nick said ^

Opposite is how the poi are relating to each other's directions. With hand's 2 poi lengths apart (2 units), you can spin completely in the same plane. With hands 1 unit apart, you could use 2 parallel, but slightly offset planes so that you don't hit your other hand/arm. Butterfly would be about 0 units apart. You have to angle your poi into 2 different planes. It's a bit like a flattened X (atomic).

  • Yeah nick I have also latently been practicing these things for beginner....just because i have no one around to show...so this stuff is really good. You started out with orbits isolations and hybrids...but that stuff was just too far off. Thanks a lot for paying attention to us noobs :)

  • Hey nick ive been a subscriber for awhile now and i must say the new tuts you are comming out with are amazing for the beginner! i must say i really like the diffrent colors and glow on the fact that you can see what is doing what, advanced to come? :3

  • Thanks for uploading your tutorials, they are a great help to me,and I'm sure, the rest of the Nunchaku community.8)*****
