I don't recall watching this episode as a kid, but that is exactly how I learned to play short stop...and just this summer I started to teach my 5 year old son to do the same. Funny because The Wizard was my fav player growing up
This episode was one of the few VHS tapes I had in 1987. There was no traveling league, no fall ball, no one on one private lessons. This was my baseball teaching and I recall almost every minute of it.
I remember watching these every Saturday. Fat Albert was the last cartoon of the morning/afternoon....and the Baseball Bunch came on right after. Then me and the old man would go out and have our OWN lessons. :)
i might be biased as a St. Louisan, but Ozzie Smith was underrated as a total player, not just his defensive prowess. Did you know he finished with more total hits than Mickey Mantle? You can see the Wizard loved defense. Too bad those days are over. Thank you for posting this clip. I loved the Baseball Bunch.
Ozzie's my favorite Cardinal of all-time. I've never seen him without a beard! I forget how little he was, but man, that guy could play shortstop like no other!
well, since you ask. it was a finished basement, carpet and everything. is that wierd? we had a big screen downstairs and my parents watched tv upstairs. i dunno why i even replied to this question. strange.
Why didn't you use a ladder?
He did.
Why didn't you use a trampoline?
He did.
Why didn't you even try to pole-vault it?
He did.
Why didn't you even try this, chicken?
HUH?

I use to do this on my garage, but father would get upset, because it would leave a bunch of marks on the garage! Thanks Ozzie! (sarcasm)

I don't know if anyone remember her, but Michelle (the one with the ponytails) was my favorite character on the Baseball Bunch.

Uh, that's what makes him "The Chicken." He's dim-witted.

Good stuff, but I don't get why the chicken just doesn't walk around the wall. Why does he keep trying to jump over it.
