I loved this. During Cuban Missle crisis, soviet sub came up and saw mattresses all across my dad's destroyer, and knew we were not at war. Nothing to fear, always brothers at sea, yes? I like to imagine and opera based on sub captain (Russian) and US destroyer captain. I did not know this until after my father died. And, I guess the Soviet Captain's notes were released, and cited in a book I read. Fathers never tell children anything, never ever. Now I must only imagine.

No no no the massive submarines could not defend the Soviet Union from Western action. The Western Navies did not threaten the Soviet mainland. Our nuclear weapons did. No submarine could stop that from happening. Look to the R-36 for that job, and that would have only blunted SAC. The simple fact is kid, was that the East and the West were both vulnerable to each other. And that the sociatal decay rate of Soviet society was faster than the decay rate of the West.

Look at the economic problems of the USA today. The USSR had similar problems in the 80's and early 90's. Yet you don't see the USA starting to split, nor has our safety net collapsed like the USSR's did. I'm betting you're some Russian kid who grew up in little Odessa NY (Brooklyn). @Mr0982mmawarrior We probably are in a 1930's style depression. We will have strife in the form of strikes and maybe some riots. We've been through this before, we'll make it just as we did in the past. American society is more stable than the Russian Empire was. In 10 years we'll be out of this. I think we probably have about 5 or 7 years left. But hey, why argue, we'll see for ourselves. Talk with you in 5 years and we'll see what happens and compare notes.

Hey, Sovietsky you put some American coolness in your vid claiming it for Russia. 1:46, 1:51, 3:05, those are Los Angeles Class hulls. Of course inclusion of this class is apropos, as where ever there was a Soviet SSBN, you could rest asured an American, or British SSN was also nearby. :)
