I've always found that Outlook is one of those "Jack of many trades, expert at none" applications. No single piece of functionality is anywhere near best-of-breed, but people seem to put up with it because of A) the integration, and B) Exchange support.
And then there's the PST format and all of the data loss/corruption issues that plague it (#1 reason to avoid Outlook IMO). After doing lots of support for Outlook users, I'll never even consider it for my own EMail.
I'd like some help with outlook. I have a 7 yr old gmail account and recently I decided to give Outlook a try. My gmail has numerous undeleted emails which over many years I have divided into many separate folders Bills, clients, schools etc etc. What outlook did after confuguration was that it downloaded all the emails from gmail onto my computer and put them all as unread messages in my outlook inbox. Whats the point if it wont replicate my exact email positions? Can you pls help?
Do you know how to configure an yahoo e-mail account in outlook 2007? I can add it, but it don't open the inbox and others folders and don't log in when i type the yahoo e-mail password. What can i do? thanks.
Also since I grab my clients names at night is there any way to tell outlook to send the email at tomorrows date without showing the recipient that the night before that had I composed the email.
Hi What I want to do is for example: I market law firms via emails. So I would like
to send for example 30 emails to 30 different lawyers at same time but have each recipient
not know that he is part of a distribution group. so his email address is the only one that shows up on his email and not the other recipients. So he feels the email was only for him.
i have outlook and prefer it..i want to move my hotmail account and yahoo account to it but not sure how? all windows live mail can do is read emails but its laggy (both desktop and web version)
You can sit down and compare Outlook 2007 with the newest version of Apple mail. I an sure a non biased mind could not possibly vote for Apple Mail after that. Apart from Apple fangayboys.
that really gets to me, why the fruck do you think that mac users are gay? fuck you for thinking that, infact, pc fanboys think that theyre gay. im not gay, and being gay is normal, you are just homophobic and prejudice. i know apple mail isnt the best, its for small purposes, just for basic email and extras. but please stop attacking mac users for choosing a computer over the other, new apple users are giving macs 5/5s. if you dont like macs for some odd reason, keep your hate to yourself
I've always liked the MS Office suites, Outlook is great, it's a shame most of their other software isn't of the same high standard *coughwindows*, but then Office is made primarily for business clients which is what MS support more than the consumer base, hence still issuing service packs when simply releasing the update/fix/change as a stand alone patch when it's already finish would be better.
Internet Explorer shows the quality of the whole operating system...

Isn't Windows Live E-mail just a new version of Outlook Express?

Outlook folder management sucks ass. Why the hell can't you manage the folders in outlook like you can windows folders?
For example: why can't you multi select folders and then drag and drop them into another outlook folder? Huh? why?

I just started using 2007.
I wish there was a way to set up a template for emailing text messages.
We like to send our service techs calls via text messages to their cell phone, then print out their message as a redundant copy for their in box.
I expect that microsoft will intergrate a more text friendly aps with the explosion of texting.

I hate how Outlook/Entourage keeps all your emails in one database file... really a bad idea.

i use Apple Mail 3.4 - does the job for reading my Gmail
perfect. MS Office i could never take too, i use it in work but its just not viable for yahoo or gmail.

Apple Mail tried to import ALL of my Gmail messages from the past five years and took forever. So I switched back to Gmail webmail.
Thunderbird is the best, but I don't find a need for an email client anymore. I manage all of my calendar events and to-do's with iCal.

Outlook is very good if you use its additional features, not just e-mail.
