Actually that is what I like in South Korea....it is mandatory regardless of who you are or your status, doesn't pick and choose & only those that have health issues are exempt. Ironic that in the states....young men volunteers to go to military to survive, earn a living, get an education....used to be mandatory for them there too. In SK...it is all about duty. With North Korea as neighbor....just in case, they need to have as many men ready to defend their country.
