probarbly her most sincerest song, i find her false and un-convincing as a serious artist. She showed potential with this, then ruined it all by going high camp and electro, shame, she could have done accoustic like Madonna and who knows?! The only song of hers i actually like.

I personally loved her deconstruction years, but many people didn't. And to keep her fans, she has to compromise this type of music and go electro to make her fans happy. Even Madonna had the same problem with the American Life. That's when she came back with Confessions Of A Dance Floor. Kylie had a problem with Impossible Princess, so she came back with Light Years.

American Life was a success reaching number 1 in over 25 countries, the criticism came from her criticism of the American way of life in the single American Life. Madonna and Stuart Price married folk, techno and electronica on that album to much critical acclaim, Nothing Fails was hailed by Rolling Stone as her best song since Like A Prayer, the other tracks released hit the club play charts at number 1, American Life spent 4 weeks atop the global chart.

Internationally American Life did great, but not in the United States. Hollywood and Nothing Fails peaked at 103 and 101 but they did do fairly well in the club charts. And American Life was the lowest selling studio album of her career. After the controversy of the single she had to leave the spotlight for some time.

The only place that American Life failed was America, throughout the rest of the music world it was praised for its bold attempts to marry genres like pop, funk, techno and folk. The single American Life was number 1 in over 12 countries whilst the parent album went number 1 in over 27 countries. Its songs were genius, Nothing Fails was praised my music bibles Rolling Stone and Q as being the most accomplished balled she'd produced since Live To Tell, America turned its back because she woke up!
