What moves me most--as a Freedom Rider 50 years later--is the interest of young people in this historic event, and the recognition focus on it brings that so much remains to be "fixed." I hope many more Americans will "get on the bus" in the months and years ahead.
When I look at this kind of historic documentary, it constantly reminds me of why it is still important today to stand up against any type of racism and hatred. They say we are using the race card when we speak out against racism and division in this country today. Call it what you will, racial division and profiling is worth the use of every angle of the race card if it means taking a stand for what's right.
