  • I have to admit though This dude is the only guy on youtube who knows what he is doing!

This is the true fix for the problem!

  • I just put a piece of card along the area where the two screws are problem gone forever!!!!!

My fix works 100%.....no new issues no bs!

I wonder how many people completely messed up there Wii's trying to bend the piece

Its extremely flimsy and if you bend it more then enough it will warp!

  • Thank you very much for posting this video! The problem and solution were dead on!

  • What size is your screwdriver?

  • yea it started buzzing my wii got shaken a bit and now when i put disks in the wii goes to the black screen what should i order a new disk drive off ebay?

  • So is it BAD if a wii makes this noise? Or just more of an annoyance than anything.

  • The solution was to refit the arm with a disk in the machine. Don't fully tighten the two arm screws, and then move the arm aronnd until there is an even amount of space around the metal parts of the arm inside the white plastic disc.

    Result - no noise.

It may be that we are both right and it is a combination of the two but...

  • Ihave solved this problem on my son's Wii. I think you are wrong about the cause/solution. Yes the problem is with the arm, but I think the noise is caused by the white spinning disk rubbing on the parts of the metal arm. I tried your solution but what ever bend I had it still made the noise.

  • One thing you don't mention is that there is an additional plate to remove opposite the plate you need to bend before you can get the arm out also the screws are VERY tight!!

  • Hello, my wii can't read discs at all. I replaced my 4 year old lens with a new one but still have the problem. Could it be due to the same reason as the noise?

  • i also get a noise but also few clicking sounds and a dre will this help fix that or do i get a new drive(warranty is up) dont wnna a new because of £200 worth of dlc

  • My problem wasn't a lack of tension as far as I could tell since I don't remember the noise stopping when I had pressed down on it. I had tried removing the plate the second time that I had to fix it but i don't think I could get the bed just right. Bend it too much and it cause the plate to rub on the plastic and too little and you get your vibration problem. The clearance between the plate and the plastic is just too small...bad engineering.

  • Hello. I have completely stripped the screws. In the end I took off the top plate and then ended up tightening and loosening the screws with super pliers. I bent the thing like you said (downwards), and now it is working nice and quiet!

Thank you so much. Hopefully it will be a long time before I need to do this again.

  • Can you describe how exactly you are beding the plate? Maybe I can bend it without removing the screws?

  • @GoldenRice The part that is being bent is the part where the screws connect, so no you can't adjust it without taking it out. Maybe try a larger phillips head?

  • Eh. Nope. I've already begun to strip them, and I since then I have stopped trying (because I know it will break the screws completely).

  • Whatever you do, DO NOT STRIP the screws. Try just pressing down firmly and turning it slowly. If you strip the screws it's over.

  • @RemarkableRyan Yeah... about that... What would be classified as "stripped"?

  • @Cobaltios If the screw driver cannot take the screws out because the Philips female end of the screw itself has been destroyed.

  • Hello. I am trying to do this, but I can't remove the "presser" thing because the screw is way too tight! What should I do?
