  • death to scar!!!!!!!!

  • Epic. I so want to see this!!!!

  • This is too sad, I just can't watch it. BUT I HAVE TOO!

  • when I actually saw this live I was sobbing at the stampede (not even the death), tears pouring everywhere unashamedly. so fantastically done. want to cry thinking about it now.

  • Im seeing this in May! cant wait! looks AMAZING!

  • I just saw this,

I swear this scene could've given me a heart attack!

  • It was nicely done.

But I feel it didn't grip the emotion like in the cartoon. When Scar whispers Mufasa's death, and as mufasa fell with a epic roar and simba crying "nooooo!!!"

Both are good in their own way I suppose :)

  • No matter how many times I see this, whether it be in the original film, on Broadway, even in Kingdom Hearts 2, this scene will always make me cry...

  • heartless audience! mufasa just died!!!

  • @niknikprodutions They clapped because it was done very well. It's a show and to see that done so well is a beautiful thing.

  • the way scar said "long live the king" was sooo... well corny, the movie was better :P

  • what if he was all like "what t fuck all ya'll clapping for? he just killed my father."

  • Hands down this was the bet part in the show. And I cried like a baby...

  • you know, I always pictured this part of the musical simba running around on da stage in a circle. screaming,...............HELP...........H-H-HEEEEEELLLPP

  • The stampede is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen! Actually the musical is too! I want to see it again!

  • I love the xylophone (or whatever it it is) at the beginning, but why the heck is the cheetah trying to hunt giraffes?!

  • @rayman5300 hmm i don't know maybe it's trying to hunt down that giraffe according to the scene i think.

  • well i never saw the LA version of the lion king but they closed the show at pantages theatre and i don't know where else to see the lion king i know they have it new york but it's so far from here at cleveland at least the stampede is one of my favorite scenes.

  • WTF whoever did Scar ruined the "Long live the King" Line Jeremy irons made it so much scarier

  • Do you have they live in you? I noticed that you have the German version. Do you have an English version? :)

  • Comment removed

  • So cute when Simba roars

  • Who acts out Mufasa? Scar? Young Simba? The cheetah? The giraffe? The shadow puppets?

  • This is just awful... I'm sure it looks better when you see it for yourself but the acting is way off and the whole stampede part looked silly.

  • @ToxicTurquoise454 ive seen the lion king musical many times.. and this part is far from awful it's actually one of the most amazing bits in the piece. I wanted to cry

  • I always wondered how they did this scene. Interesting.

  • ...even though i know mufasa's going to die, throughout this whole scene i'm screaming "COME ON MUFASA YOU'LL MAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!"

  • I LOVE this scar!!! he's great!!!!!

  • Where is the Cactus Butt part?

  • nyc version?

  • is scar being played by gareth saxe?

  • Only you, Americans, clap during a theatrical show. The opera and the theatre are holies: here in Italy the clapping is ONLY at the END of the show.

  • @MNK92 Well, aren't you guys cool and superior simply because you clap at the end of the show. *rolls eyes*

  • wow

  • Mufasa's death was soooo dramatic. I remember when i saw this at the Orpheum in Memphis, the room was silent (apart from adult sobs and kids asking where's Mufasa)

  • Mufasa NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  • This has got to be the best scene! I was in the audience thinking how are they going to portray such huge and action packed scene? Then when those rotating wilder beast bodies started and a second row of them rose, I lost my shit in my head! Amazing!

And as for the clapping, audience just assumed the scene was over since it faded to black. Simple mistake. Plus yeah it was amazing!

  • Really audience? Really?! You could really feel the love for Mufasa when he died and everybody CLAPPED!!

  • did you notaced that some of the wilderbeasts had two heads lol.

  • @legendarywerewolf206 :| they don't have two heads, they're holding more than one mask to create the illusion of the huge stampede.

  • they clapped because it was such a spectacular sight, with amazing effects

  • It's comforting to know that when people witness a murder, they're just going to stand/sit there and clap -_-

  • I don't think that was the right time to clap.....

  • this would have looked better if the people looked like, oh, i don't know... LIONS!!!

  • This scene was cool live.

  • thats amazing! I want to go see this live AGAIN

  • Zazu is LAZY AF

  • I remember watching this when i was 13 :) My fav part was the stampede! they done it so well!

  • wats with the cheetah and the giraffe in the beginning of the video?

  • @ingrid98R Setting the pace and tone, perhaps, to show that it was a regular day?

  • I'm not crying i'm.....sweating from my eyes

  • That's so cruel - Simba's just lost his dad and then Scar tells the hyenas to kill him!

  • I always wondered how they did the stampede scene on stage. Did a really nice job of it. :) Now that I've actually bothered to watch a scene, I can honestly say that I'd love to see it live someday!

  • @16Nire61

Oh you should definately go, I saw this at the Orpheum in Memphis several years ago...but I swear, Scar was far more badass then this guy...almost sounded like the actor who did Scar in the movie...

The entire play is just...well, there is no words to describe how phenomenal it is...even seeing Beauty and the Beast at the Orpheum doesn't even hold a candle to seeing the Lion King.

Hope you get to see it someday!

  • Honestly, that running in place looks kinda goofy...

  • 1 dislike: Simba! :0

  • where was simba screaming no!!

  • @whitetigerslr409 i think it would interfere with the dramatic effect they were trying to give with his fall. he yelled no at 6:18 but in the more recent shows he yells "daddy" as he runs out on the stage now with an echoed effect

  • @TLMBroadway193, I pretty much agree. ;)

  • poor simba :(

  • me crying ? im not crying... nope not me... :( why would i cry? its just a performance D: *sobs*

  • Never saw the musical, but I have it on my mp3 player (the musical song adn the movie song) I always imagined this part differently in my head when I was walking my dog, but the real thing (even if the video quality isint the best) is beyond anything I imagined. Still the music always makes my cry no matter what version. We actually talked about this with my class mates, and a lot of them still couldent listen to just the music without feeling like crying XD thats how emptional the song is!

  • What city was this performance in?

  • Scar's outift looks EPIC! xD

  • Such a powerful song AND scene... I want to watch it live someday!

  • The flashing when Mufasa died helped make it look intense

  • Have yo'u got 'He lives in you'? Reprise with that Mufasa mask? I've seen the musical about 10 years ago, but I want to see that one part again

  • cheetah at the beginning :3

  • ...sniffle...

    ...M-Mufassa...

    *cries*

why am i so dang emotional about that part...?

  • That tune always sends shivers down my spine.

  • When I went to see it at the point Mufasa fell, one little girl in the audience cried out 'noooo!', it was heartbreaking!

  • Lion king has the best music

  • amazing, i cried when i saw this

  • @oaghipn and me

  • I knw this one for word *hides face* sad I knw bt I jst looove the lion king

  • That was freakin cool

  • Best Musical EVER!!! Right beside Phantom!!!!

  • God, I still cry at this part. T^T

  • I'm sorry but this scene definitly doesn't translate well to stage. All I see is a confused Mufasa dancing/running around.

  • this is one of the best parts of the entire musical... so intense...

  • Can you upload the Be Prepared reprise?

  • @oaghipn I second that!

  • i would not have clapped when mufasa died.....wtf people lol

  • @andyaquatic its not the fact that he died, its the affects that are cool

  • @andyaquatic Lmao ikr!!

  • @andyaquatic people dont know how to think and i wouldnt clap for mufasas death either

  • @andyaquatic they clapped because that part was performed out well. heartless lol why would you even write something like that?

  • Awe-inspiring, spine-tingling theatre, at its best!

  • I cried so hard when I saw this part for the first time. They pulled this off so well!

  • @TLMBroadway193 do you have the battle of pride rock? if so please post it thx

  • Am I the only one who finds the film Simba more realistic than this kid?

  • what was with the cheetah at the beginning?

  • They should release this on DVD.

  • @sgauden02 AGREE

  • This is more amateur hour than I expected from Disney, but not from a production targeted at the youth-and-parent demographic, or on Broadway.

  • @ZaffireWolf amateur? are u serious?

  • is it just me or do the hyenas look like gremlins?

  • @Flexglitcher807 I agree. Edd looks sooo creepy.

  • @Flexglitcher807

    It's not just you.^^

  • Is there a full version of this?

  • I just saw the lion king two days ago on broadway, and i like the scar they have now much better. His voice/mannerisms were EXACTLY like jeremy irons!

  • those buffalo masks are really huge up close

  • You are the best for uploading these!!!!!

  • Oh, my God....Even though It breaks my heart when Mufasa dies....I just LOVE THRILLERS.

  • I love the way they made the heads to move.

  • RUN! THERE ARE HOPPING COWS BEHIND ME!

  • Is this the original Scar?

  • it's been nearly a decade since i saw this play, and there are only three parts that i still remember. one of them is this scene

  • omg this is the most amazing part in the whole thing, I once played Scar in a production of this. so much fun in that role

  • BEST. PLAY. EVER.

  • I remember when I finished the 5th grade and the rest of 5th graders went to go see this and I had lots of fun and I was 11 years old when I saw this.

  • OMG I'm crying at this!

  • As I recall, this was the most terrifying thing I had ever sen in theatre until I saw Coram Boy (that play is just plain creepy)

  • I hope those guys were clapping for the performance...and not Mufasa's death... lol

  • @GodofBrownies Yeah it's quite ironic isn't it?

  • @GodofBrownies I'm quite sure they were.. Otherwise, what a bunch of psychos -- clapping when someone 'dies'!!

  • @GodofBrownies haha XDDD i don't think that they will do that.... so sad..... :'(

  • When Scar tells Mufasa about the Stampede, the Chorus starts saying "Oh my God".

  • :""( GAWD! I forgot how sad this part was!!!!

  • <3 Lion King <3

  • This was definitely one of the most memorable scenes from this followed by the scene where he sees Mufasa's ghost

  • One of the most touching scenes ever in a movie! A father's love!

  • the wildebeasts were masks at the front and then the ones behind them were all painted on paper covered rolles, so tht it'd look like there was loads

  • do u have "he lives in you reprise" where mufasa's spirit talks to simba? I loved that part of the show.

  • 6:00 Epic death

  • this is my favorite scene. not because of Mufasa dying, but because of the spectacular designs for the scene, like the wildebeests running down the hill and approaching Simba and also the amazing music.

  • this is my favorite scene. not because of Mufasa dying, but because of the spectacular designs for the scene, like the wildebeests running down the hill and approaching Simba.

  • This is such a sad scene... if i watched the movie now I would cry. I know this is different from the movie. But it's still so sad

  • This is the saddest scene.... the music is amazing.... the scene's so sad. If i watched it now.... i'd cry.

  • This is not Broadway. This is the Los Angeles Company.

  • I went to see this when I was finishing the 5th grade.

  • the best scene ever
