I couldnt follow the argument; first they talk about selling dolphines later about killing them. The problem of dolphinariums is unaddressed. @lllou2 This movie apparently won several awards becoming the best DOCUMENTARY in 2009. But it's showing a problem in a very incoherent way which makes it poor in a journalistic sense. It isn't really telling me why this is happening: they eat them all? they sell them to dolphinariums or they just kill them for fun? If the answer was revealed we would have the problem properly addressed..and then I fear the quality would be even more poor.

about the cruelty of human beings and how selfish we are using dolphins as business not only for meat but also use them as entertainment business. I hope this documentary gives human beings some lessons. We say "this" is horrible, but what do we do?

This movie (docu) was kinda boring if I may say the truth.... but the worsest thing is they dun care so much about the dolphins as the care about to make japanese people and culture bad....

US foreign involvements is a whole other subject (a very reprobable subject by the way) but this movie shows us the cruelty in which these few men slaughter dolphins...it shows us how money can make people do horrible things (dominica, barbuda...etc.) This has nothing to do with the US goverment and how they involve in foreign countries! Im peruvian and I think every country has good and bad people. lets not judge the US ppl by their leaders decisions

It's like me and half of you guys saw two different movies. I cant believe this movie won an Oscar. Its very incoherent. I couldnt follow the argument; first they talk about selling dolphines later about killing them. The problem of dolphinariums is unaddressed. Villains- the Japanese are shady and finally the male lead. This movie is clearly his attempt to make dolphines forgive him his past. New York Times seems to share my opinion. Read their review.

@lllou2 This movie apparently won several awards becoming the best DOCUMENTARY in 2009. But it's showing a problem in a very incoherent way which makes it poor in a journalistic sense. It isn't really telling me why this is happening: they eat them all? they sell them to dolphinariums or they just kill them for fun? If the answer was revealed we would have the problem properly addressed..and then I fear the quality would be even more poor.

I think this DOCUMENTARY is trying to make us see what humans are able to do just to win money. I suppose that's a lot of money but what they're doing is an ecological disaster for not to mention is cruel. I can say this documentary is completely coherent and they deserve the award.

I think Japanese people are killing all this dolphins because they are really destroying the sea (they cath a lot of fish too) and meat is something important and expensive for them. Besides they were doing that ages ago. They believe that sea is something like a resource for them. But if people could truly understand each other it is believed that peace would be in this world. We don't even know how bad this world. The only option is to make japanese people understand how a dolphin is thinking

The Cove is the very dirty documentary film that reveales the brutal way Japanese people in Taiji are being treated by Ric O'Barry and Louie Psyihoyos .Cove crew made this cinema with dirty trap against Japanese. Recent news were showing bit of improvement on the dolphin hunt in Taiji. However, it may start again just like what happened for whaling. @leaveitplease you just pointed out the answer I have been looking for in this movie. Nobody got to the bottom of that because this wasnt the purpose of this movie. Im not sure whether the mercury argument is working for or against this movie. The authors are making indirect statment that the Japanese gov is trying to poison its own nation by killing and eating dolphines.The movie is about the guy not about the dolphines.
