You're spot on! Her voice changed through the years. 1990-1992 she was raw and stuff like that. 1993, her voice started to become smooth and softer until 1996. She 1997 she sounded a lil tired but in 1998 came back with the raspy voice. 1999-2002 there was even more of a change. 2003 was a g00d year. 2004-present. She doesn't belt as much but whispers a lot. She is still very capable though.

OMG!!!! She sang "Butterfly" live!!!! She can really sing it, but that song is really difficult, especially when you sing it everyday and you have to travel far plus different temperatures. Rehearsals then the actual show and interviews. That's really hard for Mariah! Love you MIMI!!!! Thank you for the gift of music.

Mariah never smoked during her career, she said she smoked as a teenager and lost three octaves, then her voice healed and she got them back.

Tommy wanted mariah to belt notes all the time! He wanted her to sang r&b but to belt notes and sang sad but yet helpful love songs. Mariah didn't want to sing that all the time! She wanted to sing fun songs and with relationship problems to help people and to sang about her relationship with tommy m. But he didn't want that!

dude i noticed that you said she sang pop when she was married to Tommy. Your wrong, she has sung R&B since the beginning. And she sucks compared to her wonderful years, and its fine, because shes getting older. But i bet money if she sang for God, she would have the voice of the 90's, God knows probably better. @PreciousMariah22 Yeah your right her music pre-butterfly was predominately pop with influences of R&B, but she still has included some pop elements in her music, its actually the opposite from the earlier years when you think about it. I still think of her as more pop but still very big in R&B.
