  • Why am i just now hearing this..OMG..DOPE!

  • CLASSIC i would bump this over ANYTHING on the radio

  • why cant people just keep it like this...?

  • dilla took 12 minutes makin this joint, and he was gettin fustrated because to his standerd he took so long. now you tell me who can make such a banger in less then 12 minutes ?

  • @Waky78695 He was frustrated because he couldnt get the drums not because it was taking him 12 minutes, just because it was made fast dont make it a great beat

  • @Pomaori well maybe igot it wrong, but my point is is that he didnt need long to make wicked beats. are u sayin that this isnt a good beat?

  • @Waky78695 Alot of people think its cool to make microwave beats "yo check this made a beat in ten mins son", speed does make a beat greater at all . . Its a great beat one of Dillas best for tribe but the fact it took him a short period of time doesnt make it great

  • @Pomaori lol calm down man im just admiring how quick he made such a good song LOL

  • @Waky78695 YO no calming down son i whipe out whack nikkas

  • @Pomaori erm ok..

  • @Waky78695 I aint your man either son, what kinda faggot shit is that . .u gotta man ?

  • LET'S STOP WAXING POETICALLY and BE THE MOVEMENT!!!!!!

  • this is what i miss about rap. todays rap songs are so over produced. none of them have soul. none of todays rappers have talent. rap today is nothing but sellouts trying to make money. TCQ is by far my favorite rap group of all time

  • @nigelvb There are still very good hiphop artist today, You just need to search.

  • @Colombiani true indeed...but without the promotional and marketing that the greats had obviously, we will never know

  • @ruffdraft07 JUST SEARCH!!!!!!!There is good hiphop out there, really, really good hiphop. I personally like Eligh is good.

  • @ruffdraft07 bro check out some stuff outside the states e.g english, australian, germany

  • @nigelvb over-produced...perfectly said.

  • That bass is lethal, damn dilla. 1 person can't get a hold.

  • i keep this track with me every where i go

  • taaah about 6 years when i was in 4th grade my dad gave me this cd and i had it in my cd player playin this song on replay. i was like dad what did i miss? haha

  • crazy how at one time this was the sound of commercial hip hop haha no high hats running at 120 bpm or pitched snares, with lazy synths, wish i could've been older during this time.

    R.I.P. Dilla Dawg!

  • @PTSO09 I know, I wish I was older at that time too, I was around a year old when this was made. SUCKS

  • Dilla produced 8 tracks on this album. RIP Dawg

  • -a day whitout sum atcq- never gonna happen!! love is not the word i have for these three fella's and most of the people they worked with... its much greater then that... peace

  • @0sanity0 i strongly agree

  • houses hoes haha, meant house shoes \/\/

  • Anybody seen that interview with dj houses hoes on dilla? says this was made in 12 minutes...

    genius.

  • This is so haunting....i cant stop playing this.

  • this track is tighter than asian pussy!

  • @jchem youre obviously asian as fuck. purple like black pussy

  • @jchem I think you meant more funky

  • @jchem its good that even some asians listen to this sht

  • @jchem you racist fuckface. asian pussy is very wide

  • JDilla gets total respect for this track, but the lyrics are sick, and QTip's delivery was flawless. There will never be another ATCQ. Their rap was art from every angle.

  • "So jump back inside your shell... let your million dollar thoughts propel, but next man who'll get dealt player hate at, or carries weight that we don't need... we're slim with disabilities and thick with possibilities. Cause then you can move with agility... Navigatin with good visability" QTip 2:36 So many diamond lyrics. Jump back inside your shell is like the spirit returns to the body with purpose - and be serious. Cut loose negative people and stay on misson. Find this in todays lyrics.

  • "There Ain't No Plan B's. Yo Watch, We Moving Through With Plan A - Money Market, Doing Things The Right Way." QTip @ 3:00

  • @FullTiltPokerNews Speaking of doing shit the right way... Their album covers never pimped an exaggerated lifestyle of wealth - all you ever saw on their albums were people of every color literally and figuratively. They were always promoting intelligence and unity.

"And I don't give a shit about being wild rich. Just make me comfortable and I'll deal with it. Your lust for the riches make a nigga feel sick.. down to his gullet... upchuck and then spit." QTip 1:20

  • Dilla is a beast..........nuff said.

  • I know how dilla would have felt with this beat.. the sample is just awkward, first off all hes a genius of course, to put sumthing like this together..

i still havnt managed to get a grasp of how he used his samples...

majority of the times, hes used minimum sample and made a intoxicating beat..

  • probably my favorite cut from this album

  • Houseshoes say's in a documentary that this is first beat he ever witness J Dilla make... and it took him 12 minutes to make, and he was getting frustrated with the drums... amazing

  • Funny how I loved this song when I was in college years ago enough to play it over and over again, without realizing how positive and deep the lyrics were. Now that the music industry has choked off all the positive vibes, it's become obvious how this track and others like it were the closest thing to truth or enlightenment with music. Way to go music industry for dumbing everything down to a point where hip hop's biggest fans can't even listen to the shit anymore. Today's youth needs this.

  • @FullTiltPokerNews Man, dont get me started...everyones a "rainman " when it comes to music now...i understand nothing lasts forever but it sickens me that people are so gullible now when it comes to music and lyrics...like they dont see its all about money an sex...lady googoo is naked everytime i see her on a magazine..WTF?? is she selling music or skin?? i guess people are into hermaphrodites in 2011...she's nothing to me...

  • @broccolihart1 Its part of the whole "degenerate the youth" agenda the government has now.

  • @Damian2354 Yep, and I get frustrated when i turn on the radio (rare occasion) or watch something that has these new, convenient singers or artists portraying this nonchalant attitude about life...the decline of music is happening.

  • drifting baaaaaack.....suddenlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy................

  • @djayee Nice one, I always heard the sample as "just" and notes and Rza type moans, never fully took in what it was saying. You just re-birthed the song for me

  • this track is extremely underrated

  • I just watched a mini-doc (Stussy) where Houseshoes said this took Dilla 15 mins. to make, and he was gettin' frussed about gettin the timing just right. Crazy.

  • @CJtheCynic

    Damn thats wild.

  • Dilla 4 eva!

  • R.I.P. real Hip Hop =(

  • true mcee!

  • If only Dilla was still here to see how many lives he changed...

  • fuck!!

this song is so awesome. so fuckin original

  • man back in '96 i was just starting 6th grade and i would put this on every morning to start my day...a 12 year old today wouldnt understand we lost our music.

  • This was one of my favs off this album, too bad not enough people support old school rappers when they drop albums.

  • Geez not G's..

  • THIS IS THE SHIT!!

  • J-Dilla Just couldn't leave. :'( Why?! Why Him?!?! I would give all the rappers that suck to this day, to bring him back.

  • i love Q-tip's voice

  • wow they dont make hip hop like this anymore

  • The brother well prepared is the brother who will start. I praise the Lord of the world that's unseen. Respect me for that and let me do my thing. I don't give a shit about being wild rich. Just make me comfortable and I'll deal with it. Your lust for the riches make a nigga feel sick. Denouncing my beliefs, well then your wig get split. Lay your egos on the ground so that you'll benefit. Take some time for your mind and get off them head trips.

  • Got to redirect this vision. Your minds are locked down like prison. Yall really need to go lay down cause positivity is risen. We all got flaws, so never try to think that you're perfect. Jump back inside your shell - let your million dollar thoughts propel. We slim with disabilities, and thick with posibilities.

  • Cause then you can move with agility. Navigating with good visibility. Strive to get this constant money activity. Try to stay on the scene like Fidel. There aint no plan B's - yo watch, we're moving through with plan A, money market doing things the right way.

  • @FullTiltPokerNews This is why I love Tribe, because they were trying to feed the minds of the listener with something real, positive and fulfiling. That's why tracks like this are timeless, because they were challenges to think about life at a higher level.

  • this beat is only drums, j dilla is pure swing

  • ill

  • This is on of my favorite hip hop joints of all time, I remember having this joint on repeat when I copped the CD back in the day. Dilla's production, Tip's flow, shit is hip hop at it's finest! Stop through and check my beats when y'all can, peace.

  • the BEST RAP IN THIS PLANET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What an ear Jdilla must have had - incredible use of an obscure sample to drive the hook of the song as well as the background of the body of the song. Pure genius. One of my favorite ATCQ songs.

  • RIP Dilla King.

  • The one person that downed this video needs to slam you head in a car door, you know who you are.

  • damn great track this is real hip hop..

    R.I.P j dilla

  • he made this song in like 12 mintues....

  • No, he didn't.

  • @DJJazzyFlashBooty Yeah he did, sorry.

  • So, you think he found the sample, layed it down, put drums over it, filtered it, mastered it, put lyrics over it, and put changeups in, in 12 minutes?

I believe you, but you can't blame me for being skeptical.

  • @DJJazzyFlashBooty he made the beat in 12 minutes.

    mastering, not sure.

    lyrics not sure.

but with Dilla I wouldn't be suprised.

  • @DJJazzyFlashBooty oh and I think we're both referring to the Stussy interviews (pt. 3)

    check em out.

  • Beat is off the chain

One of the best beats i ever heard

Tip got a sick flow too

  • House Shoes said buddy made this beat in 12 minutes. can u do that?

  • @ANT8U yeah i just saw that too.. amazing...

    Rest in Beats DILLA

  • Damn...

I miss Jay like I knew him...

He's the prime example of this music shit being deeper than some folks think...

  • me too man. very much.

  • Q-tip has the best most perfect rapping voice

    RIP J Dilla

  • I Love How Jay Dee Used The Sample In This Song

The way He Started The Song & The Hook Is so Monster

  • THE UMAHHHHHH...Dilla, Tip, Ali Shaheed!

  • wow..... i used to love this track when i was a kid. I only now it was made by j dilla who i rate so high.... rip man.

    Old skool 4 ever.

  • @cold2hold this should be new school not old school!

  • @cold2hold actually it was produced by The Ummah, which Dilla was apart of, but it wasn't solely produced by him.

  • @WillMillion15 Actually it was, the ummah was just the production team, watch the stussy interviews, houseshoes says he sat there and watched him make the beat .

  • @elemynt Still, there is no doubt that the Ummah as a whole helped him on this. Dilla may have made the initial beat, but you can hear Q-tip in this.

  • @WillMillion15 How can you say qtip helped him , when they had nothing to do with it? I'm saying my boy sat there in the room and watched him created the beat ....so how is the ummah still responsible for credit on the production. Its that train of thought which prevented Dilla from receiving the notice he deserved with tribe.

  • @cold2hold yup. E=(MC)2 J DEE

  • Bust it out , Section Section

  • The sample is "The Visit" by The Cyrkle.

  • sh** is fire!

i remember buying this when it first came out, and this was my favorite song on the CD -

Great Album...the first time i heard The Visit by The Cyrkle, i was blown away first of all because it's such a beautifully haunting song, the harmonies and the trumpet played at the end of that song is timeless...but i was also excited because when i heard it, i knew it was sampled from Get A Hold by Tribe....RIP J-Dilla.

  • one ofmy fav tracks right here.

  • this songs brings a tear to my eye. This how hip hop is suppose to be

  • i know right its still like that RIP j dill it loves on through him tribe madlib stonesthrow recorsd peterock etc and basements full of vinyl records samplers mics n turntables all over the world peace n love God bless

  • whats the sample?

  • @SkinETunes WORD UP! Couldn't have been said any better cuzzin!

  • @SkinETunes true that. lyrics meant something back then

  • i used to have this song in a tape deck and wear my head phones to sleep as a shorty!...props to old school hip hop!

  • 2pac used this on heartz of men

  • Dilla was a dope producer.

    R.I.P.

  • this instrumental is krazy, does anyone knowwere i can get it?

  • goddamn! I just copped the cyrkle joint he sampled the other day at a thrift store... ive still been listenin to the song tryin to figure where he flipped it! another burner from dilla

  • This beat is bananas,Dilla was a true genius !!!

Everthing from the kick to the snare to the singing sample.Nobody would think to flip a sample like this.

  • @dubbsway4life -at least nobody today would or even could put something like this 2gether..... its just plain sad

  • damnnn he really made a fukin dope beat outta this voice sample

the way he change them voices is crazy nice

  • this is on of those tracks that you just sit back and chill too!

  • yeah

  • WhatYallKnowBoutDis!!!!

  • smoke somethn to this !!

  • Rest In Peace Jay Dilla!!!

  • this is overly dope

its a shame Jay dee's work was recognized after he died man

a big loss to the hip hop community

  • omg. DILLLLLAAAHHHHH

  • ok..now.. where did i put that time machine??

  • J Dilla

  • ... no wonder why this beat is so dope.

  • i didnt really get into this album as much as the others but it definitely had some heat flamas on it

  • PHENOMENAL SONG, BEAT, AND ALBUM!!!!

  • In my top 5 for favorite songs ever!

  • this was Q's prime, no one touched him back in the day...this is poetry, one of dopest rhymes ever.

  • this song is wicked, the choir guys in the hook is a nice touch. a wicked training song

  • The choir guys is The Cyrkle - "The visit (she was here"

If you listen to the actual song, it's insane the way Dilla sampled it. VERY few producers would have thought to take that song and come up with this.

I only found someone doing a cover on this site but it's not bad, you can still hear where the sample came from.

  • this song is too ill...J DILLA NEW WHAT WE WANTED TO HEAR.
