Again....You have a VERY special J45....I kept waiting for the "Do You Feel Like I Do"...its so vocal it reminds me of Framptons Talk Box....beautiful
@richardc1972cowboy Very nice tune, I like your style of play , I spent a lot of time researching the J45 Custom before buying one and wondered why everyone, including you, moves a lot when playing them, now I know, they inspire you to put everything into them because they sound amazing and seem to be alive when you play them. I live about six hundred miles from the nearest quality guitar shop ( really) and your vid helped me choose this superb instrument , many thanks, Tony
Richard that sounds fantastic unplugged, what springs you wearing 12's and make please, I am now going from a songwriter to J45 - whats the neck like please as I am old guy learning, thanks John UK
Richard lovely sound and playing, what strings are you using please?also I am going to buy a new guitar on a trip to us,have you tried a gibson songwriter deluxe standar, I hear the necks are brilliant and all help in playing is useful as I am 60 now and can strum but want to develop as reitred and have anew teacher to help pentatonic scales etc. cheers john
@browser007200 I use Elixir Custom Light Acoustic strings. Expensive, but worth it. Don't know about the songwriter deluxe never played one. If you're learning it goes without saying - buy a Guitar that is relatively easy to play. A tough guitar that 'fights back' will only put you off . J-45 is a dream to play ( I think) and it sounds great so even as you learn you will like what you hear. Good luck with it!
I've just bought a j45 rosewood (2004) and I'm having a hard time to get a nice sound out of it. It's sounding good when I'm fingerpicking but way too bright with a pic. Is it a characteristic of the RW j45 to sound metalic? I had a standard one a couple of years ago and for what I remember it was much more woody. I'm considering going back to the standard. Might be the strings I'm using (earnie ball super slink phosphor bronze 11)?
I would advise oyu practice playing lead (scales, solos etc.) on acoustic - when you swtich to electric it will be much easier then. Acoustic will build your hand strength. Speed comes from practising scales, hammer ons hammer offs etc. Thats my view anyway. Good luck with it
What type of Gibson J-45 is that exactly? I'm seriously thinking about getting one but don't know which version - but I gotta say, from watching this video I want yours! Is that a Rosewood model?
What do you think about people who say the newer Gibson's don't sound as good? I think your video just proved that wrong - that guitar is magic.
Thank You. Newer Gibons don't sound as good? Don't know about that. I like mine though. It's a Rosewood model. If you treat her nice , play her a lot and sings songs with her, everything will work out just grand...
New j-45 sounds esactly as the 60's and 70's J-45 only the wood need to became older....but I hope you can find the time to play a new J-45 for many many years...trust me...
Not in standard, in some tuning I found one time, don;t know what it's called. Thanks for the comment. This is just an improvised instrumental, but worked out well I think. I've been playing for just under 20 years

What year is your guitar, do you know?
Bottleneck66 1 year ago
Hi
I have the same guitar :)
I have been playing for about 4-5 years now. Only acoustic gitar and I just bought myself an electric (fender road worn).
I really like the way you play. You have some really nice, and fast finger movement in between the chords.
Does that come from practicing solos/scales on electric guitar?
think I really need to get started with that.
Any tips on practising that?
