My 6 month old hyper male rat, crackers, seems to be sick. He hasn't been eating much and there has been some red discharge around the eyes. I'm 13 and I love my rats and dogs and welcome all suggestions that could help get crackers back to his normal hyper self
aww, i hope when i find a breeder in my area to breed my male (he's 15 months old, no anger issues, very hyper actually for a male, and i actually reserched alot about breeding before i started trying to find one) that she/he takes good care of them cause those babies and mom look really happy in that cage.

Please don't consider breeding rats just because they are "cute" or you want to experience the miracle of birth. There are so many things that can go wrong, so much stuff to learn about care, genetics, health problems, breeding. I have been learning constantly for 3 years and there are always new things to learn. Please only do it if you want to improve them as a whole species. Breeding out health and other issues. There are far too many rescues and badly bred rats around.
@Ingiequeen You are right and thanks for puting things into perspective. I will be giving it a lot of thought before I do it... if I do it. But I'm pretty happy with my couple of male rats ^^
In this video I used a mixture of pink and blue carefresh, but it is very expensive over here, I prefer to use either newspaper, polar fleece or what is called breeders choice, which is a pelleted litter made from recycled newspaper. It is available in australia, I'm not sure where you live but similar products would be yesterdays news I think?
That mama is gorgeous beyond belief! This is the age my babies are now (that is, the babies I'm adopting from a breeder). Can't wait until a few more weeks pass and I can go pick them up! This video fills me with excitement. Thanks for posting it. Your rats look very healthy, happy too!
Well yes they are all gone as it was a couple of months ago, but i sell my babies for $25, no matter age, colour or pattern, because they are all equal in my eyes.
@Ingiequeen Honestly, no offense, but $25 isn't a reasonable price. Considering how bad the economy is, you should sell the pups at around $1 to $3 a piece. I could find a full grown rare fancy rat for $8.
LOL X3 I am keeping him and 1 other boy, all the others are going to great forever homes, as i am a pedigree rat breeder, so it's a good feeling when they go to good homes that will love them for there whole lives.

Considering how much effort I put into my babies, I could charge $100 and still not make a profit.
$25 is enough to ensure that the person buying them is serious, and to deter any feeder breeders. Economy? I live in Australia.
