  • I cannot get over how great that bass solo is! 3:01 is pure genius!

  • Jimmy Johnson on Alembic bass, great solo, keepin' the groove.

  • 0:20 That guy fucking LOVES playing the cowbell.

  • Carlos Vega was the man! :(

  • Barnaby Finch on keys. Love it :-)

  • Too groove for me!!! great bass solo, awesome, what a feeling the guy has!

  • the funk, only the best

Fuck the pop, rebirth the funk like general rythm

  • Jimmy Johnson blows Lee away !

  • Carlos Vega one of the best drum player in history...

  • The basslines of this performance are ingenious! Especially the B part, with the latin groove!

  • What makes the bass solo so great to me is Jimmy stays with a groove while soloing on top of it. He keeps the pulse while he solos on top. There are a lot of bass players who do bass solos like a guitar player. I get bored with them quickly. But not with Jimmy's style. Really great!

  • Jimmy must be the most underated bass player ever. What a true intrument genius.

  • Amazing lineage from Carlos to Jeff Porcaro and on to Vinnie. The technique, feel, funk, and taste. Carlos on Gretsch, Vinnie's return to Gretsch, and Jeff's big Gretsch gold hardware kit which I got to see in the Oceanway Studio (1989) in Santa Monica when Peter Erskine was recording in the next room. I'll never forget the grace that exuded from Jeff and Peter on those sessions. I wish I could have been able to see Carlos play. These videos are really great! Thanks for posting them!

  • The bassplayer is Jimmy Johnson, the only one who is able to give a refreshing interpretation of Marcus Miller's original bass lines

  • One of the greatest basslines I've ever heard ._.
