banditcar, when i was a kid i watched star wars, hoping to become as good as darth vader ,asjaj ventres or darth maul with the saber. but that is now real thanks to u,my favorite star wars trainer :D
Banditcar is a natural teacher. My career has involved producing video instruction for various physical activities. It's not easy to do it right. Contrary to what some people may think, there is more to consider than just turning on a camera. I can not believe how easily I adapt to these directions, even with my video instruction experience, I'm still amazed. Great Job!
Wow, thanks for that. That is probably one of the best comments I have ever gotten! I really do appreciate it and I am glad that you were able to take something from these tutorials. I do what I can and leave the rest up to the viewers.
I just noticed something. All your spin tutorials are exactly 56 seconds long, and some of them have the ends cut off, as if done unintentionally. Is your camera busted or something?
haha, no my camera is not busted. I used a 5.2megapixel digital camera that only took 1 minutes worth of footage at a time. So I had to try to squeeze in the lesson in under a minute each time. For the DVD, I used a miniDV camcorder and extend all the lessons for more instruction.
Your tutorials are **excellent**, banditcar! Now, I only wish someone (ok, maybe I should do it) would make some decent attack / defend systems and videotape them. That NYCjedi stuff is really, really bad--a lot of saber bashing.
Most of the problem probably comes from the switch to the other hand and the awkward position you have your arm in and the movement of the blade. It took myself awile to get use to the movement after I came up with it. Sometimes if you work the move backwards it will help you to break it down in a different manner and understand the movement. Was there any certain part of the move that really gave you a problem?
so i saw these tutorials and was completely hooked, i can get the first few down but im having alot of difficulty, i think its mainly to do with the saber im using(darth vader rep.) and the placement of the power switch i cant get much grip on it for fear of hitting the button..not sure where i was goin' with this but suggestions are nice?:]<3[keep up the good vids]
The Vader will give you trouble doing inverts and some spins. The Obi-has a narrower "neck" and its allot easier to use. I have been handling swords for 20 some years. When I shopped for a saber I picked out the obi just for that reason. I also have relatively small hands so it made sense for me.

Are you using the Obi from Episode 2, 3, or 4? (can't remember if 4 is any different from 3, but I know 2 and 3 are different) Thanks

It's actually a 2005 ROTJ Luke. Great for these moves due to the light weight and bare hilt.
