The standard for the Donaudy according to many is set by Schipa, but Muzio sings it with equally great musicianship and her voice is beautiful, while his is ordinary. This is fabulous.

Did she make more than one recording of O del mio and would anyone know what year.

I have 9 of her records, I do thank for O del mio being rtnd to UT as it was removed

when Labienus kindly placed it on UT. Her gift should be for all to hear.

This is breathtakingly beautiful.

It makes me cry and I think that the period from the introduction of electrical recordings until the advent of the LP - about 1958 - was possibly the Golden Age of singing - before the engineers started tampering and long before Classic FM began to debase classical music as they capitulated to the Pop Culture, which reduced all music to the cheque books of Sony etc...

Listen to Muzio's phrasing; only Magda Olivero, Rosa Ponselle and Callas had this gift.
